I don't want to hear anything about the Indians, I don't want to hear anything about the Tigers, I don't want to hear anything about the Twins, and I certainly don't want to hear anything about the Royals. From timely hitting to starting pitching to a solid bullpen, the White Sox are clearly the most complete team in the AL central. Although they do have a number of struggling veterans, it is a foregone conclusion that they will pick it up. Even with Thome, Konerko, and Buehrle struggling, the Sox still possess a 30-24 record to put them on top of the division. Vasquez, Danks, Floyd, and Contreras have formed a dominant rotation, and Linebrink and Jenks are perhaps the best setup-closer combination in the league. To add to the stellar pitching corps, 25 year old left fielder Carlos Quentin has quickly established himself as a star, ranking 1st in the AL in homers (14) and 2nd in RBIs (48). While all of the other AL central clubs have definite weaknesses (i.e. Detroit's horrendous bullpen) the Sox have enough leadership, talent, and depth to win them another championship and merit the title of most complete team in the AL central.

The AL Central this year doesn't have a complete team. Where one team as in the Twins have the best batting, the White Sox go and make that up with the best pitching
As far as the TD goes i guess its up to me to prove that the our white Sox have worse batting than the twins have pitching...Making Minney a better all around team than Chicago
Minney
Pitching 17th
Hitting: 8th
Sox
Pitching 3
Hitting 26
White Sox pitching has been lights out...no doubt. They take top 3 in
Team ERA 3.374
Team WHIP 1.27
hits given up 440
1 team in Earned Runs Given up:187
Why do i put this out there? Because this is the reason why the White Sox have been winning games. The pitching is only allowing 3.5 runs a game
Our Hitting: We have one of the WORST batting averages in the Big leagues...ranked 26th...(compared to Minney with a rank of 8th)... with only 240 runs driven in...WITH NO players hitting above .300, and 3 of the biggest stars on the team hitting BELOW .210
This team has GREAT pitching with struggling hitting...combine that together and i do not see a complete team...if anything, Minny whos sitting 2 games back with a little higher overall ERA and better hitting is that team

Fortunately for the Sox, however, they were not built around high batting averages. This is a power team that plays in a smallish home stadium, and GM Kenny Williams has clearly put together and effective lineup despite the low averages. Just look at HRs this year:
White Sox: 3rd in all of MLB with 64
Twins: 29th in all of MLB with 32
That's right...the Sox have hit TWICE as many home runs as the Twins this year, and their record and lead in the AL central reflects this. They also trail the Twins by just 3 RBI and 9 total runs despite that massive gap in batting average. As can be seen, even though there is a massive difference in batting average, the Sox offense and the Twins offense have basically made identical outputs to this point in the season, minus a few runs.
Moreover, I don't think anyone can make the argument that the Twins offense is struggling more than the White Sox. Even at in a terrible cold spell, the Sox offense is basically equaling the output of the Twins. Konerko has had 4 straight seasons of 30+ HR, and as his bone bruise heals he will start hitting again. Cabrera has started to hit, and Alexei Ramirez has also. Higher averages will come, with time.

HR are a small factor when it comes to hitting...we can have more than double the HRs than the Twinkies, but when it comes down to runs driven in, they have more...and thats what counts..who has more runs at the end of the game
Regardless of how you see the two teams offense, the twins have the edge in almost every statistical category for hitting...
ONWARD!
Its not the HRS that reflect our winning ways...if you were a true south side fan you would know our pitching is a product of that winning and 1st place record...our hitting has rarely saved games at all this season and has had little to do with the success
Prior seasons of players have little to do with this season...Like you said Konerko has HAD 4 straight seasons of 30 + homer runs...well our chump of a first baseman is off to a .210 batting average and 6 HR...to me, its doesn't seem he will hit nay numbers that he put up over the past 4 years...i mean he has 11 years in th league and is hitting a slow point in his career
i would take a team that has moderate numbers than one that has one DOMINATE are compared to one greatly struggling area any day f the week...it shows consistency and overall completeness of the team.

Your attitude on the importance of HRs is irrelevant, because my points stands that the Sox are still just 3 RBI's off the Twins season mark. With how far the Twins are from the Sox in terms of pitching, there is no possible way to argue that the Twins have a more complete team. A 3 run homer yields the same outcome as 3 seperate 1 run singles. Right now the Twins and the Sox are cranking out what amounts to almost the same amount of total runs via different styles of play.
Yet the White Sox compliment this offensive output with phenomenal pitching, something the Twins do not do. I understand people will always frown upon HR hitting teams, but the Sox are using this power to supply offense right now while the pitching is taking over. I was at the World Series in 05, I know how they got it done (pitching), but I also know that the 2005 team also was led by a .290 average (Podsednik). Clearly teams can win championships without dominating averages.
My point is that despite the average difference, the Sox are still displaying an equal offensive output with a far superior group of pitchers. Hence, they are the more complete team that will win more games.

Ok lemme put it to you like this then...you said MOST COMPLETE TEAM...when a team struggles to be good at all the aspects of a sport, than they are not a complete team
If Chicago just hits Home runs for their Runs, and RBI's, then they are missing out on other parts of the sport, as in singles, doubles ..triples...e.i the rest of the game that make a complete hitting team...the Twins utilize all aspects of hitting, doubles triples and hr.....and the BA is a reflector of how well teams hit in every category....and with the Twinkies have a much high batting %, it just goes to show that they are a more complete hitting team....they utilize ALL aspects of hitting rather than just HRs
Now comparing both pitching and hitting, i would much rather take the team that is more consistent...as to where each respecting are is putting forth effort...and when Chicago has a 3rd ranked pitching compared to a 26th ranked hitting...there is no way that the team is more complete compared to a team that sits more in the middle of both categories...as the twins have a rank of 8th for hitting and 16th for pitching
Equal offensive output? almost...done in the COMPLETE fashion that you made the td? NO

Hitting a lot of HRs doesnt make up for the 26th worst hitting team in all of MLB. If the Sox make the playoffs it will be in spite of their hitting. Minn barely higher overall ERA plus better hitting is as close to being complete as you can get.

Offensive output = offensive output. Homeruns may not be as exciting as triples and stolen bases, but runs are runs guys. Total runs, in the end, are the only offensive stat that actually matters.

the ONLY reason i disagree with you is becasue you said complete....hitting home runs for the majority of your offense isn't a complete one...other than that i wouldn't have a leg to stand on
