2 straight 1-&-done playoff appearances n the playoffs under Tony Romo.
Best record n the NFC & homefield advantage throughout the playoffs last season was wasted.
Terrell Owens was left @ the podium n tears.
Romo has learned his what not 2 do on your bye week lesson about staying n the states & not frollicking with bimbo.
From day 1 T.O. said he & Romo bonded under a unifying goal of getting to the Superbowl.
Jerry Jones retaining the biggest chess pieces from last season, including not letting OC Jason Garrett get away is more evidence this team is dedicated to playing for nothing less than the big prize at the end of the year.
Whatever Adam Pacman Jones contributes will just be a bonus. This team was 13-3 last year and doesnt need a whole lot of help short of some stones in the playoffs.
Zach Thomas experience on defense will only help everybody else more on that side of the ball.
Linebacker Greg Ellis states: The pieces are definately there to go ahead and finish the way we want to.
Considering two of the best other teams in the NFC, Seattle and NY Giants just to name two have been to the big game recently, nobody will be more talented and motivated.

Well, lemme start off by saying that every year Jerry Jones does his best to put the best players on the field for his team...and with that said anything but a SB Win in his eyes is Disappointing...that aside...
We all see what has transpired with this tam in the offseason, and the moves made to bring the best talent in possible...but if they were NOT to make it to the super bowl all would not be lost...
With the current core of players they have, they have failed to get past the first round...and with signing big name players, and retaining big name players form last year...it would be a big step and all wouldn't not be lost if they got ANYTHING past the first round.
Even making the SB this year (08) compared to years past is the biggest Jump from the prior post season results and this team even making and losing in the Conference Finals game would be a HUGE step...
Not making the playoffs would be disappointing, Losing in the first round of the playoffs again would be disappointing...Making it ANYTHING past the first round shows improvement and a step in the right direction...nothing disappointing when your team improves from last season...

I am talking personally about the Cowboys, not teams in general. If the Cardinals were to lose the NFC Championship to the Cowboys, the Cards season would not have been a disappointment in my opinion. Most teams go through certain stages before getting to the big game. The Boys have long past those stages. The Cards for example, just need to make the playoffs and advancing a round or two would be a bonus for that franchise.
All the offseason moves the Boys have made, plus the pieces they have retained, plus the team goals now that their breakout season is behind them all point to this big cardboard sign on their team bus: Superbowl or Bust.
The huge step you speak of with the Boys getting anything beyond the first round is actually just a baby step for them on the road to a much bigger and grander goal. Improvement for this team is to top a season when they went 13-3, made the playoffs for the second year in a row, and had homefield locked up throughout the NFC playoffs. To improve on that is to prove they really are the NFCs best team and best teams are made on the field. Nobody will be backslapping each other over just one playoff win. Nobody is more NFC-ready 4 SB

I think people have jumped this Cowboys hype of a REALLY good team
QB-You have a QB that has played one full season...ONE!! and then you go and sign him to a multi-million dollar deal...with one years experience as a starter....and you expect this QB that has one season to lead them to the SB and if he doesn't than it is disappointing...I guess every other QB/Team besides Roethlisberger is a disappointment
WR...Terry Glenn will be lucky to play this season at full strength....he is just coming off injury and he has been in the league 13 years, which leave GREAT cause for concern
RB-You have a back that is proven in the TWO back system but not yet by himself as the man taking the main load of the teams carries....in which he had only 3, 100+ yd games with 200 + carries
You have three main positions that are in question and you if they don't perform at top peak then its a disappointment? It wont be a baby step to get past the first round of the playoffs? Why? becasue 85% of your team lacks playoff experience..and if its such a baby step as you call it, then why haven't then done it the past two years? it must be something bigger than that seeing its difficult for them to do so
Cassidy's Ultimate Sexy said 06/02, 01:50 PM
Its not hype. The Cowboys took down the Packers last year in the battle of the unbeatens and at that time the Pack was a much better team than the eventual SB-winning Giants. Romo may be very young and not yet considered a vet, but he has gotten his team to the playoffs twice in a row very early in his career. Eli Manning and some other good QBs cant even say that. Romo got his sweet deal because the Boys have seen all the other junk since Aikman and it doesnt take a genius to figure out Romo is the real deal.
The Boys season isnt dependant on Terry Glenn having a breakout year across from T.O. That contribution can be scattered amongst Patrick Crayton, Sam Hurd, and Mike Jefferson just to name three of many.
The Cowboys have the option of going one or two back with the drafting of Felix Jones. Running back isnt the core of the Boys attack anyways as this is a pass-heavy team.
I am not saying the Boys need 2 set regular season records as a measuring stick of success. Getting to the playoffs any way possible then making it a two or three game season to get to the dance is the strategy and who better suited motivationally than the Cowboys? My money is going there

Id say more than Romo is receivers helped him get to the playoffs....and the year before he didn't even play a full season let alone losing 3 of 5 games he played...making the playoffs his first half season isn't his accomplishment.
Recap: Dallas hasn't won a playoff game in 10 years...and in the past 3 years have failed to get past the first round with this core of players...They rest their hand with a second year qb...History and lack of playoff experience will come down on them...and if they are to NOT make the SB there is something good that has come from the season...getting further in post season then they have done in the past 10 years....if they don't get to the SB this team isn't the great almighty BOYS we thought they were...and with a 2nd round loss of conference loss they are still better than what they were...you can rag on how good they were in the regular season but history shows they suck in the playoffs....and anything past round one will be improvement and NOT a disappointment..
Im sure EVERYONES money was on the Pats when playoffs started last year...what a better team to win it? Now that was a team built for SB success and that was a disappointment...

From a team or fan perspective ANY season that doesn't end on Super Bowl Sunday is a disappointment for this team. This is no surprise.

If the Cowboys were to beat the Steelers in the Superbowl, then Dallas' season would be a disappointment.

Sorry but Cass is right... when you win that many games you expect a ring and they will be disaapointed if they do not go to the SB. The coach is on life support with Garrett breathing over him and he has to at least be in the show this year to survive.

Yea I mean....I'm with CCC on this one. My feeling is any team that is built to win now (expected to win 11 or more games) and fails on a quest for the Super Bowl will come away disappointed. Especially with the NFC being weak (I'm a Giants fan and readily admit that).

Technically, the Cowboys are already a disappointment. First, Romo fumbles the snap. Then, they lose vs. the Giants last year. But, yes, if they do it again, they will be a disapooint again.

Disappointing to Cowboys fans yeah, but you can't really go into a season expecting a SB appearance, parity and all. I will vote left just based on the fact that it would be disappointing, as it is for any of the top tier NFL teams.

I think if the Dolphins got to the AFC championship game and lost, their season would have still been successful.
The anything less than a SB berth at this point for Dallas is considered a failed season (imho)

As much as it pains me, I must agree with Cass. As a 'Boys fan I'm a bit tired of this one n' done business, and I know that Jerry has put together THE team to get us over the hump. That being said: Isn't it EVERY teams goal to win the SB?

I agree with Porkins. They need to win something. But I agree with Cass in that that something has to be a Super Bowl. And I'm a Cowboy fan.

How is it a disappointment when you have a QB that has played only ONE season...and if he doesn't make the SB then its end all be all? or a running back that has never carried the teams full load....
The first round of the plays for Dallas is OBVIOUSLY a HUGE step...anything past that is an accomplishment...
