Surprising: Tampa Bay Devil Rays and Flordia
Disappointing: Yankees in the AL and Padres in the NL
Coletrain said 06/02, 04:12 PM
I agree with both the surprises but I disagree with both the disappointments. For the disappointing, I say Tigers in the AL and Rockies in the NL.

Yankees: They have the greatest payroll (largest). They brought in a new manager to try and get this team back to the World Series. Their pitching staff has been a very big disappointment, they have been recalling people from AAA and have some injuries. Yankees are 6.5 games back where the Tigers are 6 back. The tigers are going to be able to get back to the top of the Division before the Yankees are able to get to the top of their division. The Yankees have the Red Sox and Tampa to deal with where the Tigers only have the White Sox and Indians to deal with (Twins will die out in the end) and the white sox and indians both are not going to be in first place by the end of the year. The Tigers will be, so there season will not be a disappointment.
Padres: Since the Padres did not make the playoffs last year they had a lot of expectations for this upcoming season. The Rockies did not have a talented enough team to be very successful two years in a row. They are a very young team, with not a lot of experience. The Padres were at the World Series game 10 years ago and being from SO CAl, they have a lot of expectations. More to come in next argument.

After the Tigers got Cabrera, Willis, and Renteria they were considered to be one of the favorites to win the WS. But this season has been terrible thus far. They're 24-32 and 4th in the overall disappointing AL Central. The pitching has been a complete disaster up and down including Willis and his injury. And about the line-up: They've gotten shut out the most times in baseball (9) and they've already released Jacque Jones who was supposed to be one of their everyday OFers heading into the season. The Yankees always get hot in the 2nd half and have a better record than the Tigers now. We know the Yanks can recover from bad starts. The Tigers look like a mess right now.
For the NL is has to be the Rockies. They made the WS last year and on paper have a fantastic young core. Yet on June 2, they have the worst record in baseball, Their ace Jeff Francis has been terrible, and trading their best player in Matt Holliday has become a possibility. The Padres weren't expected to be that good in the first place because their offense is dismal.
"Padres were at the World Series game 10 years ago"
That was a COMPLETELY different team. The Rockies made it just last year.
