Best collection of players in one division of MLB at one position. No pitchers. If using outfielders must do CF, RF, or LF.

Ill take the NL Central 1st Basemen
Prince Fielder-Brewers
Albert Pujols-Cards
Lance Berkman-Astros
Adam Laroche- Pirates
Derrek Lee-Cubs
Joey Votto-Reds

Give me shortstops from the NL East.

Hanley Ramirez- Florida
Jose Reyes- New York
Jimmy Rollins- Philadelphia
Cristian Guzman- Washington
Yunel Escobar- Atlanta

Your list is certainly impressive, but I'll tell you why mine is better. My list has easily got 3 of the 5 best shortstops in the MLB. Can you say the same for your list?

Not only that, but each of my players has put up above average numbers at shortstop (with the exception of Rollins who was injured for half the year; then again, he's the reigning MVP), but one of your players, at least hitting wise, is one of the WORST 1B in the MLB: Adam Laroche.

Laroche has the 2nd worst BA among NL 1B. He has the WORST SLG% among all NL 1B. He has the WORST OBP among all NL 1B. Laroche has the 2nd fewest RBIs among NL 1B. He has the 2nd fewest HRs as well, not to mention the WORST OPS.

Laroche is currently one of the worst 1B in the major leagues. You can't say that for ANY of the players I've chosen.

Fielder, Pujols, Lee, and Berkman are all top-flight players
Joey Votto is a good up and coming player
Laroche is not hitting-but is still one of the best hitters on PIT. He still hits in the 4-hole.
All of these players (other than Votto) are the best or one of the best hitters on their team. Laroche will start hitting.
Guzman and Escobar are good-but are not depended on like the 6 on my list

Cmon he did not even make an argument

Still Fielder, Pujols and Berkman have been top 3 in the MVP voting in the last two years.
Lee and Votto-my 4th and 5th best are lightyears better than Escobar and Guzman

C'mon Baun-ded, I trust that you get the point.

But aside from LaRoche, the list of 1B is pretty damn good. You have the NL's best hitter as of right now, the game's best overall player, a young stud with 50+ HR power, another young guy with big time potential, and a great producer/ 5-tool guy in Lee.

Left has 5 excellent players and 1 dud.
Right has 3 excellent players, 1 fraud, and 1 up-an-comer

This will depend on arguments for me.

Hanley and J-Rol are two of the best, Reyes hasn't hit for much average this year, but he can still a base, Yunel has done nothing but produce since he was called up last year, he's hitting over .300 solid RBI and HR numbers, and has adjusted well to the starting SS role, and Guzman is coming back.

Porkins, I would put Votto in the category of up and comer as well...but regardless, there are several star 1B outside of the NL Central (Morneau, Adrian Gonzalez, Teixeira, Ryan Howard).

The best shortstops outside of the NL East are....Derek Jeter (awful defensively) and Miguel Tejada (he's having a resurgence this year, but I don't think it lasts)?

Compared to the rest of the league the quality of shortstops in the NL East is mind-boggling. The same can be said for NL Central 1B, however, the disparity isn't even close.
