Problem, Ghost, Phantom... said 06/04, 05:55 PM
The Celtics are comeing off one of the best years of all time and it would be great to see them win another ring but the Lakers are the better team...
PG. Fisher vs Rando Id take the vet. Fisher who is a strong defender can shoot from anywhere and is someone his team looks up too.
SG. Kobe Vs. Ray Allen. even though Im from seattle ang love Ray I have to go with Kobe the MVP he will be the best player on the floor for ether team!
The Celtics have Paul over Vlad-Rad and KG over Odom even though I think Odom will have a great series.
Center is an easy win for the Lakers with Pau over Perkins
The Lakers get 3 of the five and then they also have a deep bench that will destroy the Celtics bench with Farmar, Shasha, RT, ect..
overall the Lakers have too much firepower for the Celtics in this matchup..
Nickb23- It's a Girl! said 06/04, 06:17 PM
I got it already the Lakers are the favorite, everyone told me. The thing is the Celtics would not be the first team to win from the underdogs lair.
The Lakers have been great and are getting nice and confident. I don't know who will win, but will give it a go.
These 2 have played twice, both Boston wins. The first game was 110 to 91. Tony Allen played 42 minutes and is expected to be guarding Kobe some in this series. Kobe in this game was 6 for 25 with 22 points. That is 24 % from the field, looks like some good D was thron his way. Pierce by the way dropped 33 on the Lakers.
Second game was a 107 to 94 game. Rondo outplayed Fisher and had 10 dimes with all 4 of the other starters getting over 18. Tony Allen didn't get near the minutes but Kobe was 9 for 21 with 28 in the loss. Better but still, good D on him.
Here is my point....you said you take Fisher but Rondo is younger, faster and did outplay him (he missed the first game). Kobe is great but Boston has the best D in the NBA and while you can't shutdown Kobe, they will make him take as many shots as possible to get his points, just like they did LeBron and that is how you beat a supestar.
I have more to come
Problem, Ghost, Phantom... said 06/04, 06:28 PM
So are you banking on the fact that you think Tony Allen can gaurd Kobe and that Rando will out play Fish??
You should allready know that Kobe is going to put in work hes going to play good. Its the finials and he can smell that cahmpionship Ray Allen cant gaurd him and certanly Tony Allen cant. The Celtics coach allready said that Perice would not be on Kobe much because they dont want him to use all his energy on D. If they stick Ray on him kobes going to light the garden up.
The Celtics have had there trouble scoreing the ball and with Kobe on the struggleing Ray Allen or Perice they should have a tough time scoreing.
Fish on Rando.... Fish is going to push this kid around and taunt him and we have all seen how Rando does when under pressure and its not pretty. I think Fish will have a great series he has been to the finals and is a great clutch shooter and defender.
Lamar Odom I think is the X factor he he palys well then its over for the Celtics. When Odom and Kobe both play well the Lakers are allmost unbeatable!
Nickb23- It's a Girl! said 06/04, 06:40 PM
I am not banking on anyone thing. Those guys are not gonna win it for the Celtics. They are gonna help in the areas you deem weaknesses.
Let's get your X- Factor real quick. Lamar Odom a notorious big game choker. You have a hunch....in reality we call that being a homer. In the 2 games against the Celtics this year he averaged 9 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists. he shot 33.3% from the field. he will not make much of a difference in this series. in fact he may be a huge weakness for the Lakers considering.... he is going up against KG.
Look I understand that the Lakers have Kobe, he is great. the Celtics have Pierce who dropped 41 in a game 7. They have Ray, who has started to find his groove and put up big games against a team with a much better D than the Lakers. They also have KG, who is the glue to a great D and has slowly started to assert himself more with each series. The Finals are here and KG is gonna come to play.
The Lakers are great but so are the Celtics and they have homecourt and plenty of hungry stars as well. They also have fans that have been waiting for 21 years.
Problem, Ghost, Phantom... said 06/05, 02:12 PM
Ok so Odom is a big game choker? since when? Odom has never been in a deep playoff run before this year and has never had the chance to choke.
Ok lets look at waht the Lakers have done in the playoffs.
1st round. sweep of the Nuggets
1st round celtics. 7 games with the weak Hawks
2nd round. Lakers destroy they Jazz in 6
2nd round celtics. another 7 game series
3rd round Lakers beat the defending champs in 5!!!!
3rd round Celtics. Celtics beat the Pistons in 6
so far the Lakers have destroyed the much better western Conf. While the Celtics have gone to 7 games with teams like the Hawks??
The lakers also have one more thing that Boston has to deal with a guy named kobe!
Lakers in 6
Nickb23- It's a Girl! said 06/05, 05:46 PM
I seen the playoffs, thanks. The Celtics have had one flaw all year it is to play down to their competition. The Hawks came out of nowhere but were young and talented. Nobody wants to face LeBron after what he did to the Pistons last year. In both of those series, when it came down to it in game 7, they took care of business. Then after 2 long series, they took care of a veteran battle tested Piston team. Both teams have gotten more than enough rest, so it is an even playing field.
Thing about the Celtics, they had NO problem with the much better West. They were 25 and 5 against the West and only gave up 92.6 a night to the superior conference. That would be 4th in D, if you put them in with everybody else facing both conferences.
This Celtic team has stepped up to every single challenge this year. They are stacked with guys that can step up on any given night. The odds are fully against them but that is just how they like it, do or die. Kobe is great but they will back him work for every basket. They are better defensively and on the glass. They have the stars to step up as well. It is an even series and in the end they have homecourt.

Rondo is quicker and a better defender than Fisher. Better arguments by Nick, so vote to the right.

I can't believe almost everyone thinks Fisher is better than Rondo. Are you kidding me? Rondo is a great young point guard, and anyone that can get the ball to KG, Pierce, and Allen, while keeping them all happy, is amazing. Fisher to me is way overrated. He throws it to Kobe and watches him do amazing things. Kobe has more assists than Fisher most games.

the way the series is scheduled it favors boston greatly....if things go as planned...it will be hard for LA to win 3 straight at home....but thats only if things go as planned...

Homecourt advantage for the Celts ends tonight. Lakers go in and steal Game 1. Don't worry though, it will go back to the Celts, as even though I see LA winning the title, I don't see them taking 3 in a row in LA.
On a related note, I don't understand the 2-3-2 format. If you want to do it, fine, but do it in all rounds of the playoffs, not just the finals.

no disrespect to Odom (he's one of my favorite players in the L.) but if he's the laker's solution to pierce, thats not much of a solution.

No disrespect to Rondo. (i like his scrappy-ness) but...
1.) if Rondo played for the laker's, wouldn't he just throw it to Kobe too?
2.) laker's run an offense that doesn't revolve around the point guard making all the playmaking plays.
3.) Fisher is a MUCH better 1 on 1 defender.
4.) Fisher can actually keep a defense honest by hitting WIDE open shots.
5.) Fish is better.
