The pistons have been always a championship contending team.. Unfortunately they lost a key component Big Ben. I really hate how they gave him away, I know for sure they would have this years championship. I know the spurs played great whole season like they usually do but this years finals were no contest. Big mistake for letting big ben go... I am really disappointed and have been for a while. Now they have to get a better center and get Rasheed back to PF their franchise needs to be revived.

If they couldn't get to the Finals with Big Ben last year, why would they have been able to this year? Lebron James first beat Ben on his new team, which like Detroit has a strong cast of non-superstars. He then beat the rest of the Pistons' "Big 5." And how can you know for sure they would have the championship? They'd have to beat the Spurs, who they couldn't beat two years ago when they had Ben. And it's not like the Spurs' lineup was any worse this year.

They were too cocky, and had to much publicity because of all of the wins. Which was good and bad. This year the Pistons had no Big 5 including Webber. They would've developed and grew bigger as a team, they were already great because of their talent and I think they look like a family more than any other team in the NBA.

Let's look at how the Pistons have "developed and grew bigger as a team." 2004: Won the Finals over the heavily favored Lakers. 2005: Lost in the Finals to the Spurs in 7 games. 2006: Lost to eventual champion Miami in round 3 in 6 games. 2007: Lost to the Cavs in round 3, who got swept in the Finals. Sounds like a proportionately steady downhill climb.

... As you can see due to the stats you put up they did pretty good. They beat the favored Lakers. Lost to the Spurs in "7" Games. and Lsot to Miami the eventual champions. The lost to the Cavs was a huge upset when they were up by 2. Hopefully they can bounce back. They are still figuring out their Webber and Wallace situation

I said all that to point out the gradual decline, and that this year continued a trend. And the main point here is that you said "I know for sure they would have this years championship [with Ben Wallace]." And that's nonsense. They couldn't beat the Spurs two years ago with Wallace, why would this year have been any different, especially with a worse coach? Also, you said they "gave him away," when they really just couldn't afford to give Big Ben the $60 mil the Bulls could. They offered him $48 mil, which would have made him the highest-paid Piston ever. No one was going to stop the Spurs this year, no matter what team Big Ben was on.

I was looking forward for the mavs are suns to finally beat them out of the running but they both came short. You can't just deny the fact that all 5 of them had the best chemistry a blind man could see.

I'm not denying they were a great fivesome, and very fun to watch. I feel like some of that was gone though, when Larry Brown left. Something about those six personalities together was perfect, and Flip doesn't quite fill the role.

I actually sort of liked it when Larry was still coaching. Flip hasn't been living up to his legacy.

I never liked Larry except when he was with the Pistons.

Didn't the Spurs already beat the Pistons Big Five once in the Finals?
