Who should the Bulls take as their #1 pick?

*State first then argue next

My Pick:

Derrick Rose

My Pick: Michael Beasly

Good Luck MH7King winner advaces to the finals

If I was the GM of the Bulls, I would draft Derrick Rose from Memphis as my #1 pick. Why? Because nowadays in the NBA, teams look for young great Point Guards or young Centers, unless they are a future Kobe or LeBron. Rose brings the Chicago Bulls a great Point Guard, which can score the ball and lead the team. Rose has the ability to develop into a Chris Paul like player. He is strong, fast, and talented.
Beasely, on the other hand has a great body to play SF/PF in College, but in the NBA it wont cut it. Do you really think he will be able to play PF in the NBA, considering his size and the fact that he would get outmuscled by the other beasts in the league? Beasely relied way too much on his strength and athleticism in College, which will not cut it in the NBA, and he most now refine his skills. He has even shown that, when forced to dribble, he can lose the ball easily. He also tends to be selfish which raises the question as to how great of a team player he can be.
Overall, there are too many questions with Beasley. I mean sure he is a 'beast', in College! He is with the big boys now.
Rose is the more complete player, making the decision for the Bulls much easier. He is #1.

If I was the GM of the Bulls I would take Michael Beasley as the top pick in the draft. Beasley is the best player in the draft, and is something we need which is a post prescence. Granted he may not have the size to play PF in the NBA, he can play SF. He's sort of got Lamar Odom's body frame, and can be a very effective SF in the pros.

Beasley averaged over 26 points and almost 13 rebounds in college. The Bulls could really use a guy that can be a scorer and rebounder. The Bulls already have Kirk Hinrich at point guard. I don't really see him being the future of the team though. I think that they need to go out and get a veteran point guard to lead the team. Derrick Rose will take a year or so to come into his own. If they take Beasley he can come in and have a Kevin Durant type season.

Last season the best player in the draft went 2nd overall. Look what happened. Odom didn't play a minute last year and Durant won rookie of the year. The Bulls need to take that in consideration and take Beasley.

Overall, this is goint to be a tough pick for the Bulls. But, going into the draft, I see Rose as the more NBA ready guy. People are dubbing him as the next Chris Paul, but more explosive. Like I previously stated, Beasley's fundamentals may be in question, so seeing that you really need those fundamentals playing Small Forward may hurt him. Also, dont forget Beasley had 'attitude' problems in High School and College, which will contribute to a teams chemistry in a bad way. Which team would want that. Plus, the Chicago Bulls already have Nocioni and Deng in that Small Forward position, and Beasley is too small to play Power Forward.
But here is the flaw in your argument.
You stated, "The Bulls already have Kirk Hinrich at point guard. I don't really see him being the future of the team though. I think that they need to go out and get a veteran point guard to lead the team."

Rose led Memphis to the NCAA Finals. Hinrich can be traded to acquire a PF to play besides Rose. Although he is not a veteran, Rose is a tremendous leader, something the Bulls need. What the Bulls dont need is a another SF, including one with too many questions in his game.

Rose is Chicago's future.

You say that Rose is a tremendous leader . He was the leader of Memphis in college, and heck it's easy to be a leader when your team is playing for the national title. We don't know what's going to happen when he starts losing. Beasley on the other hand, didn't play on the best team. He played for Kansas State, so he knows how to play well even when his team isn't playing well.

To already compare him to Chris Paul is a little far fetched. He hasn't played a minute in the pros. There have been great college point guards that don't pan out in the pros. Example- Jay Williams was an all american player at Duke, and he never did well with the Bulls. Even before the motorcycle accident he wasn't playing that well. Another example is the highly praised high school star Sebastian Telfair. Since he stepped into the pros, the only reason he has even been mentoined in anything is because of the many times hes been traded.

I agree that this is a tough pick for the Bulls, but I think they need to take the best player availible and that is Michael Beasley.

dang it i spelled beasley wrong

BEASTLEY

They obviously need LOW POST scoring, I mean come on.......Gooden????

Trade Thomas and Hinrich for Arenas maybe (?) and bring Noah off the bench

Report Offensive Comment

Regardless if they take Beastley, Thomas would get dealt

Report Offensive Comment

wizards wouldnt trade arenas for hinrich and thomas. the wizards dont even need thomas

Report Offensive Comment

Yall know Arenas can opt out of his contract this year if he wants to

Report Offensive Comment

he is opting out and is resigning with the wiz for a longer deal because they are signing Jamison and he said if they sign Jamison he will stay in Washington

Report Offensive Comment

Wiz COULD do a sign and trade

Especially since Wiz seem to play BETTER with just Jamison and Butler

Report Offensive Comment

He should leave I don't see the Wizards being able to be a better team than Boston, Detroit, or Orlando anytime soon

Report Offensive Comment

Hinrich wouldnt hog the ball as much as Arenas and Thomas would be a solid guy off the bench, Etan Thomas is coming off a major injury and he doesnt have the "upside" Tomas does.......Plus Etan is a backup C and Tyrus a PF

Report Offensive Comment

I agree, Lakers

He would be a nice pick and roller in Chi-Town with Beastley

Report Offensive Comment

I think if Arenas does go to Chicago with him Beasley, and Gordon then they will be a contender in the East

Report Offensive Comment

and the Wizards got power forwards already who they are big on. also Washington healthy is better than Orlando and they beat the Celtics 3 out of 4 times this season. Wizards can hang with any team in the east

Report Offensive Comment

Gordon wont be resigned, Lakers

Deng probably will

LOL

Orlando is a team on rise, Howard would destroy any Wizards C

Lewis is a lot to handle for them

Turkoglu is a solid player

And the Magic will most likely address PG in free agency or draft

Report Offensive Comment

I don't need to hear any arguments..........

Rose WILL BE a superstar and a GREAT leader

Beasley WILL take 2-3 years to develop and MIGHT be an all-star

Take Rose

jgb these are supposed to be won by the person with better arguments. That means you should wait for the arguments to vote and not based on your own opinion.
