With another game tallied in the Win column for the good guys, it brings a firm ending to the "no offense" drama running around the White Sox dug out...

Currently on a 6 game win streak the Sox are the hottest team out there...building a 5.5 game lead in teh AL Central and taking 3 of 4, so far, from the twinkies, and with the season 1/3 over, were setting our self up for what should be a promising season...

In the past 6 games were
6-0
with a team batting average of .351,
a 627 slugging%
a batting average of .490 on first pitches
and averaging 9 runs a game...

Where does all this come from?...having put up 54 runs on 79 hits in the last 6 games... this team has done a complete 180 from the Ozzie rant.

that's just offense, our pitching has remained consistant with Contreras throwing just under 1.30 era and a 0.86 WHIP, and Dotel throwing 1.59 era with a 0.71 WHIP....and the entire effort only allowing 20 runs in 6 games...with 37 strike outs in 60 IP

This team is punching on all cylinders right now and are shaping up to be one of the biggest threats for a deep post season run, if they continue there ways...

Disagree? TD

Boston Red Sox 8-2 in last ten games, ChiSox are only 7-3.

When I think of hot, I dont think of who has the current longest winning streak. Thats too easy. We have seen plenty of teams jump out to 6 game winning streaks only to fade to black. Talking to you Dodgers.

The no offense drama surrounding the White Sox was fully warranted: with this latest "explosion" their team batting average sits only at a paltry .258. The Boston Red Sox conversely are at .282.

I would hope when playing a mediocre team like the Twinkies you would beat them. Thats no great feat. The Twins arent even a .500 team.

This last ten game stretch has included the Sox beating up the Rays to overtake them in the division and tie the Cubs for the most wins at 40.
Beating the Rays is actually noteworthy considering Rays are still 11 games over .500.

If you had wanted to box me into using stats from the last six games then that should have been in the TD title: hottest team in the last 6 games. However, the Red Sox are the HOTTER team for the SEASON with 334 runs(36 more than ChiSox), 636 hits(81 more than ChiSox), 1001 total bases(86 more than WS). Pitching? RS have more shutouts, saves, and Ks.

If i wanted the hottest team for the season it would have been easily the cubs...but come on if that was the case i would have put "the best team in baseball" for the title....hotest as everyone can relate, is refered to when a team streaks

That Minnesota team you are talking about is the same team that took a 4 games series form the Red sox 3-1....and put up 28 runs on 39 hits...thast just under 10 hits a game on them...and your complaining that Minney isn't a worthy opponet?

Of Bostons last 12 games they have come against 2 last place teams in their divisions with 6 of the games against seattle, the worst team in baseball and Baltimore a .500 team...the same .500 team that you complained about my white sox beating in Minney....

White Sox have found bats, and in a big way...Crede who, in the past week has hit a .617 average with 11 hits on 18 AB 5 being home runs and 12 RBI's...Not only has the hitting come around our pitching, compared to your boston pichting has light years on them...We have three pitchers in the top 20 for best ERA thus far while your #1 man sits just out of the #30 rank...and thats your first best....your #2 guys Beckett sits just under the 50 mark...

The Cubs r not hotter than the Red Sox even if we r talking just the last 10 games. Cubs 7-3, Red Sox 8-2. So how are the Cubs hotter for the season when they & the Red Sox both have 40 wins? I dont get its "easily" the Cubs. Red Sox fans would strongly disagree with u there.

The hotter streak over the last 10 games or the last 60+ games between the Red Sox & White Sox is the Red Sox, so I am right either way.

Twins r mediocre. They have played 63 games 2 showcase what type of team they have & have lost more games than they have won. Thats not impressive as much as its depressive.

4 comparison sake lets look @ the 2 teams beneath each of these division leaders:

The Rays have hit 22 more HR than the Twins. Rays have more total bases, walks, stolen bases, a higher on base and slugger percentage than the Twins. Pitching? The Rays ERA is .72 lower than the Twins. Rays have more Ks, allowed fewer HR, 46 fewer earned runs, given up 133 fewer hits, & have the Twins 7-3 in shutouts.

If the Rays played in the Central they would be ahead of the White Sox right now! So, beating up on the Rays lately is MORE impressive than Twins.

If Joe Crede is ur posterboy=thats not good.

Thats my point, if The twins are so much worse than the Rays, then why did they take 3 of 4 games from the Red Sox? and average 10 hits and 6 runs in each game...

Cubs pitch against a lot beter hitting..the advatage is def in the NL for hitting this year...and thats not even close..

This isnt about Minney and Rays....its the White one vs the Red ones....

Also you hve to factor in that the red Sox have played 4 more games than the white sox...right therev is a HUGE difference in stats...now i cant say how those 4 games would have been played by the sox, but when factoring in how they have been playing of late, the stats just might even out

Our pitching is sitting #1 in the league right now, and for a fans sake i would take pitching over hitting, even with the Whites on a tear with their hitting, there pitching out battle Bostons any day of the week

In the end the Sox are hot, and with an easy 9 games ahead of them there is a godo chacne that they will continue there winnign ways. Hitting has improved, much more than the Red sox in the past week, and pitching has still been on target, much more thna the red sox..
right now the White ones are hotter than the Red ones

Why why have the White Sox sucked for most of the year until recently? Their manager Ozzie Guillen has gone on more tirades this season than Bobby Knight did in his career. They couldnt hit, field, or get anything together and were so embarassed after getting stomped by the Rays a week ago that Ozzie was calling for wholesale changes from the GM on down including himself. This is a team on fire? Well enjoy your 6 game winning streak cuz the Sox are who we thought they were: a roller coaster of a team at best and beneficiary of playing in the weakest division in the American League.

If you think this spurt of offense means anything more than just an isolated penny rattling in a bottle for the Sox that means you have a blindspot the size of the whole first half of the year when it looked like the Chisox were stepping to the plate with wiffle bats.

I know you are a Sox fan but come on, lets keep it real. This is the best the Sox are going to play ALL YEAR and its only a little six gamer in June. Zzzzzzzzzzzz

The Red Sox are hotter than ChiSox in last 10 games or last 60 games or whatever games you want to pick out in between. 8-2 is GREATER than 7-3 over the last 10 games.

Hello Steveo, I disagree but cant do this right now. Will post first argument in a couple hours. Hope the baby is okay.

June 9, 2008  08:13 AM ET

Oh and anybody that posts below will not influence me as I already have my team picked out. The Dodgers.....JOKE!

June 9, 2008  09:07 AM ET

actually Boston and Ohillie are both 8-2 over the last 10 games while Chicago is 7-3.

June 9, 2008  09:07 AM ET

Phillie that is

June 9, 2008  09:24 AM ET

D*dgers suck.

June 9, 2008  09:27 AM ET

In all of baseball?

The AAA Iowa Cubs of the PCL. They've won 5 straight and 9 of their last 10.

June 9, 2008  09:56 AM ET

Porkins if I didnt like Steveo I was going to pull something like that out of a hat.

June 9, 2008  12:11 PM ET

open for the pickings...

June 9, 2008  12:13 PM ET

The Angels had won 7 straignt before their loss yesterday.

June 9, 2008  02:05 PM ET

And Phillies 12-2 in last 14 played.

June 9, 2008  02:11 PM ET

The Cubs.... 6-0 is not enought to say hottest. Not enough games The Cubs are 11-3 in last 14 with an even split of those games at home/road. They have actually done it all year going 17-10 in Apr; a May mark of 18-11 and 5-3 in June. They have yet to lose more than 2 in a row all year. Now that is hot

Although the phils are 12-2 and I would say on even level with Cubs in short-run although the Cubs haven't cooled off since opening pitch.

June 9, 2008  02:16 PM ET

Phillies are only 1.5 games worse than Cubs. They've been doing it most of the year too.

June 9, 2008  02:28 PM ET

hottest team refers to a streak, if i wanted best team in baseball i would have put that as the title....and cass, you obvisouly new what i was getting at it you even said yourself

"If you had wanted to box me into using stats from the last six games then that should have been in the TD title: hottest team in the last 6 games. However, the Red Sox are the HOTTER team for the SEASON "

now its a title of the td battle...and people will voe based off you swinging my title in your favor...

good luck

June 9, 2008  02:54 PM ET

Well looking above us only one person has mentioned the Red Sox so its not like its a unanimous opinion either way. Lots of different ways to define hot beyond who has the longest winning streak. If longest winning streak automatically meant the hottest team then someone would be able to accuse you of going for an easy win and I know thats not the case so lets agree to disagree as that is what FN is all about, right?

You can take stats and shape them any way you want to make them look in your favor. The season is 1/3 over, and you want to use that averages for the last 6 games NOT!!

Vote to Cassidy
