You know I gotta go with my dawgs from UGA.

They will probably be ranked preseason #1, and in that position it will be easier than most teams to get to Miami in January even with one loss.

Don't give me any stuff about the schedule too b/c I've already covered that in my latest blog.

Alright, you picked Georgia and I'm going to go with a good, talented team. That team is called the USC Trojans.

USC has been good for the past years and that is going to be the same as this year. They might not be ranked in the preseason #1, but that doesn't really show much at all.

If you are ranked #1 that just means that the "analysts" think that you are the best team in the league.

USC is a great team and have been very good for years. They continually have great players and they just have overall talent that you it is hard to beat.

USC has a great coach who knows how to lead a team. Pete Carroll is a great coach. He has led his teams to BCS championships and has been in a lot of Bowls and knows how to lead a team.

USC will win the BCS Championship.

I actually hope to see these two teams in the national championship game.

Alright...well being ranked #1 or #2 isn't that big of a deal. Just because that you are ranked 1 or 2..doesn't mean that you are going to automatically be in the BCS Championship game. Plus, look at the schedule and the conference of the Georgia Bulldogs. The SEC is tougher than the Pac-10. Plus, Georgia has LSU, Florida, and other teams. USC has what...OSU? That is it. It is that game and thats it for toughness.

It is easier for Trojans to make the BCS Championship game and win it than it is for the Bulldogs.

Pete Carroll has a better record, with more wins (4) and less losses (5). Pete Carroll has more titles and has more bowl championships.

The USC Trojans have a great team, and they aren't just talented, but they have experience. Georgia doesn't have much experience, but the thing that will push the Trojans to the top is their coach who knows how to coach in this time and has a lot of experience in this area.

The Trojans will win the BCS Championship.

Just b/c you're ranked #1 or 2 doesn't automatically get a team into the big game, but it certainly does help.

Now that a one loss or even two loss team can make it into the title game, it'll be tough to keep a one loss SEC team out as opposed to a one loss team from another conference.

Carroll has more titles? More like title. One rouge AP poll in 2003 doesn't necessarily entitle someone to the... title. Richt's coaching record is comparable, and the only missing piece is that elusive National Championship title.

You say that USC players have experience and UGA doesn't? I don't see where you're getting that b/c by my count USC has 11/22 starters returning (4 on offense and 7 on D) where UGA has 18/22 starters returning. Plus, USC has to rehaul the two most pivotal units: QB and the entire O-line including the TE.

Here's why UGA's schedule is manageable: http://www.fannation.com/blogs/post/201018
I posted it a week ago before I knew about this TD.

I would wager a bet that UGA has the best chance to win the BCS title in '08. Since I've seen UGA ranked primarily at the #1 spot in the preseason polls so far, I would think that most people agree with me.

Being #1 or #2 doesn't help to get to the National Championship game. The preseason rankings are wrong so many times.

It is going to be hard for a SEC team to only lose 1 game. I don't see any team coming out of the SEC only losing 1 game. Florida and LSU and Georgia are top teams in the SEC but I'm not seeing any of them coming out with only 1 loss.

Carroll has been in more bowls. He has more bowl wins and he has that key component to a coach, a National Championship Title. He also knows how to win with new players, and he knows how to give them help when they don't have the experience to give that to them.

Pete Carroll gives the USC players what they need for experience. Plus, 11 of 22 starters are returning. They are also having the backups that were on the team last year to start. They sitll do have experience and they have good players, who can only get better with Pete Carroll coaching them.

So because they are ranked #1 in the preseason poll people agree with you? They might think that Georgia is the best team, that doesn't mean that they think that Georgia will win the BCS Championship.

USC is a great team and will win the BCS Championship this year.

Oh crap, here's my second argument cause I meant to say that in a comment.

-->Being ranked #1 or #2 preseason actually means more than most think b/c LSU was able to squeeze into the BCS championship game with two losses b/c they were preseason #2. USC was #1 with two losses also, but losing to Stanford, the lowest team in your conference, does not bode well. 2004 Auburn should have been in the title game with USC, but USC and Oklahoma were ranked #1 and #2, and guess who go to go to the big game? Not Auburn. My point is that it is very favorable to be ranked #1 or #2 in the preseason.

USC has talent, but they are inexperienced. Georgia's players are talented and experienced to last the season and post season.

You say that Carrol is a great coach, with which I agree, but Richt is a great coach also. Carrol has a 76-14 record, and Richt has a 72-19 record which is very comparable. Plus, Richt has the same O-coordinator and D-coordinator that he has had for years.

Interesting point How 'bout 'em. As long as a team wins the right games at the right time of the year....

June 13, 2008  05:01 PM ET

The SEC is too tough to dictate the winner. Goergia, LSU, Florida, etc. etc, USC has an easier road. If they beat Ohio St., They're pretty much smooth sailing.

June 13, 2008  06:42 PM ET

That's a big "if" to say that USC will beat tOSU; it's about the same size "if" as saying UGA will beat Florida.

June 13, 2008  07:34 PM ET

Thanks eabitchz, I was going to say that in my argument. >_>

June 14, 2008  02:17 AM ET

Just for the record, I have great respect for USC and Pete Carroll. I am an UCLA fan, but I still think USC is definitely a very good, if not great, football program. I've been stuck arguing against USC my last three TD's. People seem to love to pick USC.

I've got one more point though.
As for the comment that I didn't address: "the thing that will push the Trojans to the top is their coach who knows how to coach in this time and has a lot of experience in this area."
Pete was on the cusp of going to the BCS title game in '06, but he lost to an UCLA team that he probably should not have. I had to get that jab in for my Bruins.

June 14, 2008  09:39 AM ET

USC doesn't have half of the expeirence UGA does, they have 1 returning strter on the O-line, a new QB, a bunch of sophmores starting a tailback, and 2 sophmores starting on the D-line.

Good TD How 'bout 'em...thank you for the TD.

June 14, 2008  01:24 PM ET

Crappy second argument by the left. I'm voting right.

June 14, 2008  01:24 PM ET

And has anyone ever heard of THE Ohio State University?

June 14, 2008  06:53 PM ET

back at ya dyhard, good luck.

June 14, 2008  06:54 PM ET

Fausto, I tried to argue that tOSU should be ranked #2 in the preseason polls, but people seemed to agree with my opponent who said USC should be #2. I personally think tOSU will beat USC, but I seem to be in the minority.

June 14, 2008  06:59 PM ET

I meant post that second argument as a comment, whoops.

June 14, 2008  11:00 PM ET

This was a good TD argument... since it was one of the few had actually had to sit and ponder about (well... at least if you're neutral on both teams). This TD could have helped along by a UGA - USC Rose Bowl match-up in 2007, and I was one of the few in Big Ten country rooting for it. Regardless, I'll have to say USC is more "likely" to win the BCS title versus UGA - just for reasons mentioned here - UGA's schedule. If Georgia's schedule comes to past and lives to its true potential, OUCH. The thing is though, even if USC loses to tOSU, it'll probably be close and leave them in title contention. Say UGA only loses one as well (they will lose at least one in my opinion). Even as the SEC champ with a damning schedule... can they overcome voter intrigue with USC... and the USC "dynasty-aurora" if it came down to it? It would be awfully close but I feel the voters would side with USC (they always do the unexpected...). I also used another scenario... if these two met in the title game itself. USC's/ Pete Carroll's familiarity with the BCS and BCS titles games automatically make them favorites, no matter who, where, when, or how they play. I'll stop now before I write a whole article, but man, could you imagine a Georgia vs. Southern California BCS (title) game? And curse the Rose Bowl for the non-2007 matchup.

June 15, 2008  10:00 AM ET

yeah man, I'm a UGA fan, and I was excited to see UGA in the Rose Bowl. The two hottest teams in the country would've been a better game than two blowouts. Then again, can you imagine how bad a Hawaii vs non-big name program would have been for a BCS game?

Could UGA overcome voter intrigue? I think so b/c as much as everyone loves the "USC dynasty" right now, everyone is jumping on the SEC bandwagon. I hear a lot of stuff from fans of other conferences, but it seems that most pollsters and experts think pretty highly of the SEC. Kinda like I said before, it'll tough to near impossible to keep a one-loss SEC team out of the title game again. I hope UGA goes undefeated, but realistically they'll have at least one loss.

Write a blog about it jjreynolds; i'd read it.

June 15, 2008  04:37 PM ET

I think most people want to see this match-up, but realistically OSU will get back into the title game. I wouldn't want to see a rematch of tOSU and USC no matter how good their regular season game was. I don't want to see another tOSU vs. SEC team match-up either to tell you the truth.

That was a close one dyhard. I thought we were going to tie.
