David Ragan

13th in points, only 1 place out of top 12, which is NASCARs version of the playoffs, and only 7 points behind veteran Tony Stewart.

In 5 of 14 races David Ragan has finished in the top 10. The two races David finished in the top 5 are two of the hardest tracks in NASCAR: Talledega and Darlington.

David has accomplished this rise to the top without the benefit of having had started on the pole in any of the 14 races run so far.

Imagine where this guy would be had he not wrecked on lap 161 on the opening race of the year at Daytona, his only DNF of the season?

The average starting position for this young driver is from the 17th position so he is basically fighting his way through the field from green flag to checkers.

No driver above David Ragan in the standings can be more underrated because they are all well known names in NASCAR.

Greg Biffle.

Ever heard of him? I'm sure you've had. Biffle is known, but he's underrated in the sense that no one realizes how good he's been this season.

He's in 7TH place in the Cup standings.Behind is Jeff Gordon, Kasey Kahne, Kevin Harvick, Clint Bowyer and Tony Stewart.

Gordon is considered one of the greatest ever, Kahne has recently won a couple races, Harvick has 2 Top 5 finishes, Bowyer has 3 Top 5s and 7 Top 10s and Stewart has 4 Top 5s.

Biffle himself has 5 Top 5s!

Biffle also fights through many drivers, because his average starting position is 15th!

Biffle is the most underrated driver in NASCAR.

Biffle? Way too good a driver to be underrated.

Biffle has won 12 races in his career. David Ragan? Zero

Biffle has 40 top 5s and 68 top 10s in his career. Biffle is a well known and established quality name of the NASCAR circuit. Nobody underestimates him.

Biffle is 9th in the power rankings. Ragan is 14th.
http://sports.espn.go.com/rpm/powerranking

Biffle currently has the 7th most points in all of NASCAR!

Biffle took second place in rookie of the year voting. David Ragan did no such thing. In his rookie year Biffle won at Daytona.

In 2005 he tied for second place in overally points for the ENTIRE SEASON. He won 6 races that year alone.

Biffle has been a regular, winning driver on this circuit since 2003.

Biffle is rated very well thank you.

Forfeited Turn

I will not take advantage of the fact you had 2 bar mitzvahs yesterday. Hopefully you can get in a third argument.

Drivers are OVERRATED as a bunch. The car designers, engine folks, and pit crew are FAR more important. How do you know this Ragan fella didn't have the BEST car and crew on the track and actually underperformed?

that is a very valid point, however, the drivers must have some skill. There are drivers that can take bad cars and win races with them, and there are those that cant. because it is all about the skill of the driver and the control they have of their car. Your point is valid because the driver doesnt tinker with the car, he just drives it, and if any crashes ensue, he may just get caught in the middle of it and it may not be his fault. But yet drivers are trained to keep their eyes on certain things, and I knowfor m, if i was zooming at 180 mph on a track withh 42 other cars going around the same speed, some skill wouyld be needed, because in ever day life, with your average driver, it'd be a 43-car pile-up.

Got my vote Cassidy

I dont blame dudeman for hiding in his closet over this one. He had zero chance.

June 13, 2008  07:52 PM ET

old school=hiding in a bomb shelter when a nuke is before you.

June 14, 2008  12:09 AM ET

For now, I am leaing left ever so slightly...it depends on what dudeman comes up with for his second argument

June 14, 2008  12:39 AM ET

Hmmmm.... Tough call. I think I'll vote left in this one. Good job both of you.

June 14, 2008  08:11 AM ET

Crap, I doubt I'll be able to get to this, 2 bar mitzvahs today.

June 14, 2008  01:06 PM ET

The time it took you to write that you could have started most of an argument. Lose your excuses.

June 14, 2008  07:31 PM ET

I know nothing about nascar so I will refrain from voting

June 15, 2008  02:41 PM ET

I have to go with Cassidy on this one. Biffle is flying under the radar, yes, but he is not underrated. Rookie of the year in CTS & NAtionwide AND with championships in both... again, not underrated.

June 15, 2008  04:30 PM ET

Remember that Biffle has already won a Truck and Busch (now Nationwide) championship. Hard to underrate a guy like that. Roush was patient with Ragan and it's really paid off. If he makes the chase it will be a huge surprise. Biffle is almost expected to make it.

June 15, 2008  06:29 PM ET

I disagree with both of you. Biffle? Overrated.... Ragan? Not underrated, but not overrated either. I'd probably have to say Matt Kenseth or Kasey Kahne

June 15, 2008  07:03 PM ET

ragan is underrated...........but not after this season...........he will be on everybodys radar.................vote for the left

Lose your b8tchy attitude, and understand that people have other things to do.

Neither of these guys are really underrated. Both get ample time on the TV and are quality drivers. If anyone is under rated it is Brian Vickers. Out of the 2 mentioned I will have to say Ragan. Biffle had his moment but never is worth a spot on my fantasy team come Sunday...Ragan has been there since day 1.
