1st yes I am a Raiders fan but last year they went 4-12 which is a 2 game improvement over the previous season,......I see no reason they cant go 6-10, mayeb 7-9 if things break right.......

They play 1 team in the first 12 weeks that made playoffs or was .500 last season......That team is the SD football Chargers.......

Then they play the Chargers again in Week 14 and Pats in Week 15.......So they play 2 teams all year that made the playoffs or were .500 last season......

Now I know they may have over-paid for some talent but they got loads better with their offseason......

Javon Walker is an upgrade over Jerry Porter......

DeAngelo Hall is a very talented player and gives the Raiders 1 of their best CB duos in years.......

Darren McFadden is an explosive player and combined with Justin Fargas gives them a nice 1-2 combo.....And yes Lamont Jordan is still around to provide depth in case of an injury......Dominic Rhodes (thank god) was released.......

So the Raiders upgraded an offense that was 25th in total offense and 23rd in scoring......

Will predict schedule next and go over defense......

Ahh..a Raiders fan. And I thought we were friends dj...friends dont call friends morons twice in 10 minutes.

Anywhoo, analyzing previous records for your schedule provides a nice estimate, but its hardly accurate. The NFL is a perfect example of parity. Only thing is, the Raiders just always stink.

Javon Walker is an upgrade over nothing. He is not the Javon Walker of even a few seasons ago. Thats $15 million guaranteed for a guy who may or may not be effective at all, not to mention him passing out [getting mugged] on the Vegas streets last night.

DeAngelo Hall is a talented loudmouth who is an overrated corner. He's never lived up to the hype you all tout. He's a malcontent. Good luck. Do you know why they call it the secondary? Because its secondary to pass rush. The Raiders have LESS of it this season.

McFadden is very, very good. But the running game was never the problem last year, was it? I thought Fargas did a great job considering the circumstances.

Finally, no Jamarcus Russell in your argument? I cant blame you. Who knows if he is even ready to step in, not to mention actually weigh in under 300 pounds. Go over the rest of your TD, Raider fan.

In 06, Walker had 69 catches for 1,084 yards (15.7avg) and 8 TD's.......Porter's best season was 64 for 998 (15.6) and 9 TD's in 2004.......Last year he had just 44 for 705.......It was time for him to go and Walker is a better WR at this stage in his career........

I have them starting 0-6, although its possible they beat KC or Jets to avoid that......I think it will take Russell a few games to get comfortable and then once he does, I think they will show some spark and score some points.......

The defense is solid with an improved secondary.......Hall over Fabian Washington.......And Gibril Wilson will allow the Raiders to play Michael Huff (a solid safety) at free safety.......

At LB they have a couple of studs in Thomas Howard and Kirk Morrison who will continue the Raiders legacy of solid LB's.......

2006. You're citing Walker's stats from 2006? Lord only knows if he's even ready to test his leg out. You're best bet is to hope he plays, and talk about the stats later. Maybe it was time for Porter to go. But a $15 million bonus albatross doesn't fix it like a band aid.

[I hate doing this, as this never works, but I'll oblige]

Russell will take half a season, at least, to get acclimated to the pro game he's not used to in a backfield he's never played in with receivers he's never thrown to for a coaching staff that is still under the gun of Al Davis.

I do think he will lead them to victories against Atlanta, KC, and Miami, because even Jesus loves the Raiders.

The defense is not solid. Who is playing on the defensive line? Hall & Wilson are good but not THAT good. Wilson came from NY, where he had the luxury of a dominant DL. More to follow.

Nope, Jesus loves the Boys and Pats.........The Devil loves the Raiders!!!! Those are his boys!!!

Since you are very ill informed, the Raiders have one of the best pass rushers in the game......Let me introduce you to him.......Derrick Burgess.......In 07 he had 8 sacks, in 06 he had 11, in 05 he had 16.......Thats 35 over the last 3 years and its gotta be among the top 10, if not 5 in that time span......To amazed you didnt know him in order to google it......

They also have Gerard Warren a good run stuffer who had 4 sacks as a DT......Not a lot but decent and any knowledgeable sports fan most DT's got rack up a lot of sacks since there primary purpose is to stuff the run and not get to the passer........

Tommy Kelly was ripped for his big contract but he is being moved to DT to replace Warren Sapp and he will be able to team with Warrenn at DT to disrupt the opposing teams ground game......

U said this: Russell will take half a season, at least, to get acclimated to the pro game he's not used to in a backfield he's never played in with receivers he's never thrown to......

Wasnt Derek Anderson new at one point???? Come on you gotta do better than that.......

Burgess has been a solid pass-rusher, yes. But nobody 'replaces' Warren Sapp. You are losing hall of fame talent and sticking an overpaid body in there. You cant assume they will 'disrupt' anything. More pressure will move to the Secondary - where DeAngelo Hall is just not the answer.

Yes, I said Russell will take half a season to get acclimated. It takes almost all QB's that long to get going. You cite Derek Anderson, and yet he still had more experience. He's also an isolated case (with more WR weapons). 9 times out of 10, it takes much more time.

The offensive line: Scouts Inc. projects the line to rank among the worst in the league. This will spell doom for a QB trying to learn the pro-game (with average footwork). And even the running game could take a tumble, McFadden or not. Russell will see alot of time on his back. The Raiders didn't even address the O-Line in the draft!

Lastly, this is the Al Davis show. They overpaid for talent, signed a washed up receiver, failed to address the o-line (despite one marginal free agent), and Lane Kiffin isn't even Davis's choice to coach. He just won't fire him. This team barely won 4, and you lost a hall of fame LEADER.

June 17, 2008  05:46 PM ET

You could have had the cahones to challenge me personally.

June 17, 2008  05:58 PM ET

You're absolutely right. No way they go 3-13. They are going 2-14 at best. Lol!

June 17, 2008  06:02 PM ET

June 17, 2008  06:11 PM ET

June 17, 2008  06:12 PM ET

And why in the hell is Javon Walker, NFL player, walking around by himself in the Las Vegas darkness? Just dumb.

June 17, 2008  06:12 PM ET

"......I think it will take Russell a few games to get comfortable"

I think it will take 3 months on weight watchers to get him comfortable.

June 17, 2008  06:19 PM ET

Thanks guys, long way to go.

Javon Walker is an idiot...Thats why Robmenn....

If I got $200 on me, I dont let anyone know......

June 17, 2008  06:36 PM ET

I feel bad for Walker. I suspect he was innocent in the robbery, and he was also in the car when Darrent Williams died. Rough.

Finish up Wednesday

June 17, 2008  06:47 PM ET

The defense was 1 of the top units 2 years ago

They got tired last year because offense couldnt stay on field

June 17, 2008  06:49 PM ET

I love when a Raider fan tells me that their defense ranks at the top of the NFL. When nobody needs to throw on you and waste the energy, your defense will naturally give up less yards. The team itself is a debacle.

Man I love the way people vote in these things.
