First off, he's going in, no doubt about it. He's a career 20 and 10 guy, an 11 Time All-Star, Defensive Player of the year, former league MVP, and NOW a Champion.
Pearce is the Elder Statesman of the Big 3, and worthy of the Finals MVP. But KG was the linchpin of this team over the course of the season. His defensive mentality, hyperness, unselfishness, and team first attitude transformed the culture in Boston. In my biased opinion, he was the REAL MVP this year.
I've been a Celts fan for over 30 years. I was a fan in the pre-Bird era. KG's impact on this team was just as huge to the Celtics as Bird's rookie year was.
For these reasons, I think he should go into the Hall wearing Celtic Green.
I know he's the best player EVER in Timberwolves history, but not winning anything appreciable there was hurting his overall legacy.
He'd have been an HoF player if he'd spent his whole career in Minnesota, but this win elevates him to another level entirely. A level he wouldn't have been at if he stayed a Timberwolf.

It will depend on how long he stays a Celtic - if he plays for the Celtics for longer than he was a Timberwolve it will be a tossup. It will also depend on how many more rings he can win in Boston. If the total number of rings completely outweighs what he did in Minnesota...however....
If he was to retire today, he would go in as a Timberwolve. This is going to be along the same lines as was discussed about Roger Clemens a couple of years ago - even though he won titles in NY, he would go into the Baseball HOF as a Red Sox, because that is what he was known for.
So right now he is going into the HOF as a Timberwolf....discussion to continue in 10 years after his career is officially down and all his stats for all the teams he is on can be looked at.

I remember the Clemens argument. I said that the rings outweighed the time spent, because rings define your legacy.
You said "...If the total number of rings completely outweighs what he did in Minnesota...however.... ". I say winning a ring in the first year outweighs everything he did in Minnesota, by a mile.
Most players don't stay with 1 team as long as Clemens and KG did. They'd still be HoF players of they never got rings. I can't argue that his ties to MN are strong, but ties to a Championship are stronger.

1 championship doesn't outweigh what he did in Minnesota....he hasn't won a MVP for the Celtics or set any of the celtics all-time records....
You have to compare stats for each team.....Garnett owns most of the records for the Timberwolves....also, if you think of a player, what team comes to mind immediately when you hear their name? Not counting, the day after a title is won, if you hear Garnett you still think Twolves....until he spends more time on Boston and puts up stats to equal or has accomplishments to surpass what he did in Minnesota he will be considered a Twolf for the HOF purposes.....
If he were to retire today, he goes in as a Twolf - his stats/awards for Boston just don't add up yet.
Rings doen' t define your legacy, they just cement them....Marino is one of the greatest QBs ever without a ring, with one, there probably is no discussion. 1 ring for KG doesn't outweigh his importance to the Timberwolves organization and history for now....give him more time on the Celtics and this may change.

i would not say he would have to play for boston longer than min. but he should play at least 4-5 season with them and another ring/league mvp/something significant in order to go into the HOF as a Celtic. He spent most of playing days as a Timberwolve and if he were to retire today he should go down as timberwolve.

His contract in Boston runs for a bunch more years and i think he will want to embrace the legacy of Boson Celtics and become a part of the greatest NBA team ever...and be linked to some of the games greats .......for that reason, and for the reason of winning at least one NBA title in Boston, I think he will embrace Boston when he goes in...but he will never forget the Timberwolves

i agree but i still think he needs to do MORE as a Celtic before he retires as one.... and playing a few more seasons with no rings, no mvps then he should as a timberwolve, even though he never won a ring there he got many awards and spent most of his career there.

The answer is what got him in the hall and where did he do that. Your answer:
"He's a career 20 and 10 guy, an 11 Time All-Star, Defensive Player of the year, former league MVP... and NOW a Champion. "
Seems that most of that happened in Minnesota.

He needs to play at least five seasons there and have at least three championships before I would agree.
