FGCFF Tourney 1 Championship, Top ten Nfl prospects for 2009

Alright I had to come up with this fast but I think I have a decent list
Put your picks first argue later

1. Michael Oher, OL, SR Mississippi State
2. James Laurinatis, MLB, SR Ohio State
3. Matthew Stafford, QB, JR Georgia
4. Michael Crabtree, WR, JR Texas Tech
5. Rey Maualuga, MLB, SR USC
6. Malcolm Jenkins, CB, SR Ohio State
7. Tyson Jackson, DE, JR LSU
8. Chris "Beanie" Wells, RB, JR Ohio State
9. Fili Moala, DT, SR USC
10. Knowshon Moreno, RB, JR Georgia

Good luck How bout'em I am interested to see what you have came up with

1. James Laurinaitis. MLB, Sr., Ohio State
2. Michael Oher, OL, Sr., Mississippi
3. George Selvie, DE, Jr., South Florida
4. Malcolm Jenkins, CB, Sr., Ohio State
5. Rey Maualuga, LB, Sr., Southern California
6. Michael Crabtree, WR, So., Texas Tech
7. Chris Wells, RB, Jr., Ohio State
8. Matthew Stafford, QB, Jr., Georgia
9. Fili Moala, DT, Sr., Southern California
10. Myron Rolle, S, Jr., Florida State

1. Oher- he is the best O line men right now, each year this position grows more in Importance with todays offensive schemes, he would have been a top ten pick last year if he hadn't of stayed for his SR season, choosing a linemen as a high draft pick is almost always a safe pick, he is probably one of the safest picks for next year

2. Laurinaitis- Also would have been a first rounder last year but he decided to stay anyway, I put Oher slightly higher than him because Oher is probably the safer pick it was close between these two

3. Stafford- some people want Tebow in the top ten but he isn't the type of Qb you want in the Nfl, Stafford has a strong arm and throws a tight spiral, makes good decisions and has the size you look for in a QB, he also has pretty good scrambling ability, if he takes Uga to the title game he will be highly scouted and should go early in the first round

4. Crabtree, hands down the best receiver in college football very explosive, has every thing he needs to become the next Randy Moss or TO, will have a big season next year and I think thats why he is a better pick than Jenkins

5. Agree

finnish in the next round out of room

I'm just gonna focus on the differences in our lists.
>Laurinaitis over Oher - Laurinaitis has been performing at a higher level for years. To be truthful, I never heard of Oher until the draft was raise. Plus, MLB is a much more vesatile position that requires more skill and strategy (not to knock OLmen b/c they are the 2nd most important unit on the team), and Laurinaitis has shown his durability, commitment, and skill.
>Stafford- He has a great arm and size, but he has been far too inconsistent so far to be in the top 5.
>Selvie- He's been hands down the most dominating DE in the NCAA. 31 1/2 tackles with 14 1/2 sacks is amazing.
>Crabtree- I put him at #6 instead of in the top 5 b/c he's still a sophomore this next season. Is he a one hit wonder? We'll see.
>Jenkins- He's in my top 5 b/c he was already a big name player in '07, and his patience will be rewarded. His commitment to OSU looks very professional.
>Rolle over Moreno- The #1 recruit in the '06 class has proven his worth at FSU. He had 36 unassisted tackles last season with 144 overall. Being a sophomore takes Moreno down a little bit also b/c the NFL needs durability which needs to be seen in Moreno.

Alright I'll use your strategy, good argument

Laurinaitis vs Oher- Like I said trying to choose between these two was tough, and yes most line backers are versatile, but everyone needs a good linemen and Oher is the best this year, some teams don't even use Middle Line Backers, thats why I gave Oher the edge

Stafford has had no real go to reciever, Massaqoi is decent, so was Bailey, but UGA got a top WR recruit named AJ Green, he will have a whole lot better year this season, I think he will be a top prospect with that said, because I don't know that Selvie will even be the top DE next year

Selvie had the edge in Sacks last year, but he didn't have to share the D-line with Glenn Dorsey, Jackson had 36 tackles, 28 yard for loss, but only 4 sacks this year without Dorsey I think he is going to have a great season

Crabtree vs Jenkins- Crabtree is a pretty versatile guy, in addition to playing WR for an NFL team he could also be a help on kick returns, I don't think he is a one season wonder I am expecting him to have an even better season next year, I don't think a team would want to pass up on talent like his making him highly looked at by teams,

Out of room

James vs. Michael (like I know 'em) - Everyone does need a good O-linemen, but there are a lot of guys who fit the part this year besides Oher like Boone, Smith, and Loadholt. Oher just gets the most publicity.

I think the WR's at UGA get the brunt of people's opinions. They did not perform well in the beginning of '06 and the '07 USC game, but I've seen a lot of consistency with them catching. AJ Green will be a great addition to the WR core, but we don't know for sure if he will in '08. Stafford will need to prove himself in '08 which is no easy task in the SEC.

Selvie reminds me of a Jason Taylor type player who is quick off of the edge, so that is why NFL scouts will love him.

Jenkins is a more reliable pick to me b/c he is proven. While having a good WR is nice; having a good CB is just as nice.

Moreno might be a first rounder, if he leaves after his sophomore year which is rare for RB's, but top 10 is a stretch.

Good TD and good luck; I'll need it.

Good luck

GL to you too. I'll accept it when I'm at home and have my list in front of me.

Let's go!

Report Offensive Comment

I thought very thoroughly about putting Tebow up there, but I'm not gonna even try to fit Tebow into the mix; the task is too demanding considering his background and the NFL's preference.

Report Offensive Comment

I wouldn't put tebow up there he will go later in the first round, not a top prospect at qb though

Report Offensive Comment

Stafford won't go in the Top 10. No doubt he is good but he just hasn't done enough at Georgia to be in the top 10.

Report Offensive Comment

Also I know this is top 10 prospects and not top 10 picks for next year's draft. So while I do agree that Laurinaitis is the best prospect for next year I don't think he will be the first pick. Oher will be the first pick barring unforeseen problems or other issues.

These are interesting lists. In regards to Knowshon Moreno - my friend is a trainer for the football team, and he told me the other night he has heard multiple conversations in the training room between Moreno and other players in which he states he wont leave until his junior year. Now a phat signing bonus and salary(dependant on how he performs this year) is always a great motivator if he has a stellar year. All in all, I agree with both lists ha, so I guess I will wait to hear the arguments to decide

Good arguments fellas. So good in fact, I have to go back and read them again so I can help decide the first FGCFF champion.

i'm voting right. He really convinced me his players were better than GeorgiaFan's. Voting right.

How bout Andre Smith from Alabama

"Being a sophomore takes Moreno down a little bit also b/c the NFL needs durability which needs to be seen in Moreno."

Come on. He was never injured in high school and he was a WORKHORSE. He got virtually all our carries, caught some balls, and returned kicks and punts.

He was fine last year at Georgia. If he makes it through this season healthy, and he will, there are no durability concerns. He has never really been injured, so I fail to see a problem there? It will actually be a PLUS- NFL teams don't like backs with tons of college carries.

Report Offensive Comment

Maybe I should've left it at Moreno just being a sophomore, but how come sophomore running backs rarely go to the NFL if they like a guy with less carries?

Good TD gafan1000.
