Let's make this clear...no dude derserves to get the crap beat out of him just because he's flashing all his blings, just like no women deserves to be raped just because she's dressed enticingly.

But if are are with friends at a club and some dude is showering you with champagne, you may or maynot take actions. But there's bound to be some dude in the club that will have bad intentions and I believe that's what happened to Walker. In my humble opinion, this was no random hold up. He was being targeted for his stupidity and arrogance.

First off, you got it right with your opening statement. "No dude deserves to get the crap beat out of him".

Not for "flashing bling"...
Not for going to a club with friends...
Not for drinking at the club...

If it were you or I at a club, maybe wearing an expensive watch, or flashing some cash and we got beat down and robbed it would be no different.

He was targeted. That much is true. Not for being stupid or arrogant, but for being at the wrong place at the wrong time. Happens to lots of folks, both the famous and the average joe.

No one asks for what he got.

Dang!

Down 7-1 already???

Alright, so we both agreed he was targeted. Let's talk about WHY he was targeted then...

1. Reports showed that his alcohol bill was $15 grand, and that he was spraying people with it in the club. If I was in college and on Spring Break in an outdoor club somewhere in Cabo, that might be cool and all. But I don't think too many people in the Bellagio expected to get all dressed up and get doused with alcohol.
2. He was undoubtedly drunk as hell (i.e., easy target).
3. He had over $100 grand worth of blings on him while acting like a fool to piss people off (i.e., attracting people unnecessarily).

Now...what if he still had all the blings on him, but rather than **** off the whole club, he just chilled in the back of the club and had a good time without making himself an target for some gang bangers? Wouldn't that likely offer him a different outcome?

My guess is that he pissed out guys off, so they waited for him to give him a beating. While kicking the s'hits out of him, the loot became an opportunistic gift and so he was robbed too.

You said he did not asked for it, but I say he did (right or wrong), based on his actions.

I'm sure that if his tab was 15k, he was supporting the drinks for a large group of hangers-on.

I'm also not about to condemn a young man from enjoying the fruits of his labor and having a good time at a club.

What's wrong with many American fans is that we love our hero/celebrity/athletes, but revile them at the same time for the size of their paychecks. I don't revile Walker for spending some of his cash. Here's another thing - you don't have to be super-rich to get mugged and rolled in an American city.

He was a target all right, he was a mark. But no more so than some exec from New York who "makes it rain" at the Spearmint Rhino and then walks home. There are predators that hunt in our streets on two legs. I don't care who the victim is, no one deserves or asks for it.

Well, looks like I am going to lose on this one. I am surprised to be honest.

Bottom line is...he did not help himself by **** off people in the club. Think about it, there were certainly other people in the club with money that night since we are talking about the Bellagio here. Somehow, no one else were targeted. Isn't that interesting?

I am sticking to my conviction that if you play with fire, you will eventually get burned.

So are you suggesting that nobody else got mugged, beaten or robbed in Las Vegas that night or any other night? That no one got a random undeserved beat down there or anywhere else in America?

Praise the Lord, the crime wave is over! As long as you are not a rich young athlete out spending your cash, you can walk around in complete safety! Please.

There are certainly some elements to this story that are hinky. However, your basic premise is flawed. If you are young, and have cash, you should be able to spend it, even waste it by some opinions, without fear of getting put in the hospital. Why is it so outlandish to be out having fun with your boys? What is your better alternative? Make a lot of cash, then stay locked up in a compound like Michael Jackson? We all know how that turned out.

To suggest that somehow he deserved or asked for the beating he got is preposterous.

"No one asks for what he got."

Well...some folks have a fetish. Like stowe.

June 18, 2008  12:46 PM ET

this is most likely not random or robbery, its most likely related to the Darrent Williams shooting

June 18, 2008  12:50 PM ET

Frank believes it is also the same people who shot Taylor...and are responsible for Nicole Bass....

Walkers punk attitude makes it likely he was the actual target in the Williams death, they let it die down and cooler heads prevailed, they decided just to give him a good beatin

June 18, 2008  12:57 PM ET

funny stuff.

do you? it seems to be criticism would be better taken with explanation as opposed to simple insult, i just cant see whats wrong with my comments?

June 18, 2008  01:46 PM ET

I think OJ Simpson did it. I heard that Javon Walker had some of his memorabilia.

June 18, 2008  01:48 PM ET

No one deserves what happened to Javon. However, with him being involved in the Williams incident, he probably shouldn't be out in public spraying people with champagne and painting a target on his back. Discretion is the better part of valor.

Frank Pentangelli Retired TDer Just so I know who is talking, are you Odenator or T-Fo ---- or maybe both? It is sometime hard to know who is talking on this site

June 18, 2008  02:01 PM ET

i just got an email that said my acct is being deleted as a result of several warnings about the nature of my comments, later dudes

June 18, 2008  02:02 PM ET

LOL

June 20, 2008  08:46 AM ET

Dude was definitely targeted. That's why I always said if I have money like that, I am walking around with big body guards with good gun permits. I'll be in the club with the ice and the champagne but if you try to jump me, my dudes will either beat you down or take your life.

Vote right.

A man with Walkers money doesn't deserve to be robbed any more than a women in a mini-skirt deserves to be raped...but...there is such a thing as asking for trouble. I guarantee that there wasn't one person in that club with champagne on his new suit, that cared that Dom Perignone is $125. I think the robbery was an afterthought. Again, noone deserves this, but he MOST DEFINITELY asked for it. Next time, Walker should consider buying the house a round.

Vote to Odenator.
