Roger Federer will win Wimbledon this year for the 6th consecutive year in a row. Although many experts say Federer's reign as the number 1 player is over, this will not affect his chances at Wimbledon for years to come. Federer has won nearly 60 matches in a row on grass and has not lost at Wimbledon since 2002. His confidence and preparation for the tournament is unmatched. Federer's streak is the same as Nadal's streak at Roland Garros -- the guy owns the place and the tournament and I do not see Federer losing there until someone proves they can throw him off his game on a grass court. So far, that has only been one person (Nadal in the 2007 final) though Federer was in complete control in the 5th set. His game is also perfectly suited for grass: he can charge the net, serve and volley, or stay back and mash from the baseline. He pretty much is the definition of an all around player. The only person similar to Federer in this aspect is Novak Djokovic, though Federer has too much experience and confidence on grass to be dethrowed by Djokovic this year
Prediction: Federer will win 6 consectutive Wimbledon titles. In 2009, Novak Djokovic will win his first Wimbledon title.

Roger Federer is a great player and is still number 1 in the world. But like you mentioned, Federer's reign is coming to an end. And Federer has a very tough draw with Ferrer, Nalbandian, and Novak Djokovic in it.
And last year we saw how much Nadal made Federer work. And this year, Nadal has gotten better, evidence of this was Nadal's route of Federer in the French Open.
I don't even think Federer will make the finals. We have seen Djokovic. He has been gaining momentum ever since his win in the Austrailian Open this year. Djokovic has been waiting for this moment.
Also, before Federer gets into the Semi's, Federer will face David Ferrer. Ferrer is now ranked 5 in the world and is the player who took out Nadal at last year's U.S. Open. Ferrer is also title hungry, as is Djokovic.
Federer has a very tough path to the finals. If he makes it there, he will be tired and nervous, and play like he did in the French Open this year. For those of you who don't know about my French Open reference, Federer lost in 3 straight sets.
Federer's reign has finally come to an end.

we can agree that Federer's reign as number 1 is coming to an end..though not his grass court dominance
ferrer will lose early, and nalbandian is not a threat
federer's only threat at wimbledon is djokovic. Federer is more title hungry than Djokovic. even though he lost to him at the AO, he was ill so you gotta take that into account.
Federer over Nadal in the finals in 4

"ferrer will lose early, and nalbandian is not a threat
federer's only threat at wimbledon is djokovic."
Hold the phone. David Ferrer is a great player, number 5 in the world, and could easily take Federer down the way Federer is playing. So, Ferrer will not lose early.
Nalbandian is ranked 7 in the world, and has given Federer in the past at Wimbledon and the U.S. Open.
Djokovic will give Federer an extremely hard time. If Federer squeezes this victory out, Federer will face Andy Roddick or Rafael Nadal.
Roddick is coming off a shoulder injury, but has caused Federer trouble in Wimbledon finals. No doubt Roddick will be a threat here.
Then there's Rafael Nadal. You said that Nadal's not a threat. Well, he is. Last year, Federer beat Nadal in 5 sets. They both played very well.
But this year, Federer has gotten alittle worse, and Nadal has gotten alittle better. Federer will not win Wimbledon for these reasons.

Federer has a very tough path to get to the finals, while Nadal has an easy path.
Like I said before, Federer's reign has finally come to an end and it will show in Wimbledon.
Happy Voting!!!!!

Report Offensive CommentI have a theory. anyone that takes a seemingly easy win td after it's been up for awhile has a early advantage in voting. Because the people that saw the td and passed on it all considered taking it and formulated arguments to the contrary in their mind.
Then when the person finally accepts the challenge, he has those voters agreeing with his points and all thinking "I was gonna say the same thing".

Report Offensive CommentEO ---- Just checked the Vegas odds. Federer pays 2 to 5. Nadal is paying 18 to 1! How do I argue that Federer won't win when the people willing to back up their opinions with $$$$ have it at such a huge difference?
Having said that, Mets Fan makes some good arguments because he looks at the draw and points out several spots for potential upsets.
