The Bucs were wrong to sign Jake Plummer.

I was looking through the Buc's roster a bit earlier, and I came across a name that almost made me cry.

The Bucs have signed Jake Plummer. That was a horrible move. Even if he isn't a starter, that is horrible. Yeah, look how good he worked out in Denver. The Bucs shouldn't have signed him, and he is just going to downgrade them.

The Bucs have Jeff Garcia. And if he gets injured, they could have people for back-ups, such as Josh Johnson. Jake Plummer is just making an already unsucessful franchise get worse.

Considering the quarterbacks already on the Buccaneer's roster, the Jake Plummer signing isn't a bad move.

Jeff Garcia is 38 and Tampa Bay doesn't expect him to do as well as last year - plus he could get injured. You mentioned Josh Johnson - he hasn't played a single NFL game yet - he will just be lucky to get a few snaps in this year.

Josh McCown is a clown and Brian Greise did bad with the Chicago Bears last year. I don't even want to talk about Chris Sims.

Jake Plummer was great from 2003-2005 and one bad year in 2006 slowed him down, so what. He has expirience and he will help this team.

Plummer may be 33 years old and not be an ideal #1 starter but he doesn't need to be. He knew how to win in Denver and that will really help the team.

I think a 33-year old veteran quarterback with success in the past will definitly help the Buccaneers out if needed.

"Plummer may be 33 years old and not be an ideal #1 starter but he doesn't need to be. He knew how to win in Denver and that will really help the team."

Yes, Jeff Garcia might be old, but he has been in the league a lot longer. With the Jake Plummer signing, that means the Bucs have 6 quarterbacks on the roster. That is way too much. We don't need him, and we can do fine without him.

I guess we are arguing something that isn't happening but let's finish this TD.

I said that Garcia will be the first one on the depth chart, I think that Plummer would be a good back-up though with veteran expirience and a peronality that is all about winning.

The Buccaneers have six quarterbacks but only two of them are good - Garcia and Plummer.

The rest of the quarterbacks aren't that good.

But we don't need him. We did fine without a back-up last season. We made the play-offs. We didn't win, but we made it.

Making the playoffs doesn't really count.

A team's only goal is to win the Super Bowl. Before this year, that wasn't working.

Mean as well fix a franchise that hasn't gone anywhere since their previous Super Bowl.

The Bucs didn't sign Plummer, he was traded to them... yet he has never reported to camp or anything team related and has said that he is retired, even though he never filled out the retirement papers...

June 20, 2008  08:53 PM ET

"The Bucs have signed Jake Plummer."

Uh, they didn't "sign" him, they traded for him...LAST YEAR...and he promptly RETIRED.

June 20, 2008  08:55 PM ET

"yet he has never reported to camp or anything team related and has said that he is retired, even though he never filled out the retirement papers."

He repaid his signing bonus earlier this month. He has no intention of ever playing again.

Bucmaster... I take it you just became a Bucs fan?

I mean, this happened last season... and it was a trade... and he retired... and it was a pretty darn big story when it happened...

June 20, 2008  09:02 PM ET

Hater, I've been a fan since I was 8.

June 20, 2008  09:05 PM ET

Are you 9 right now?

No, just kidding, but seriously: How the hell did you miss this???

June 20, 2008  09:07 PM ET

Jake Plummer opted to pay the Bucs 8 Million Dollars of his sallarie back so he will never have to play for them ever!

I have no idea, I didn't know this happened a while back...

June 20, 2008  09:11 PM ET

The arbetraition proceedings just ended a week or so ago. The deal is done and Jake can move on and the Bucs get some needed cash back for their sallarie cap.

"I have no idea, I didn't know this happened a while back..."

I'm just wondering how a bucs fan possibly missed all that drama last year when it happened. Plummer announced he was retiring even before the Bucs traded for him. Gruden in all his wisdom, and insane obsession with obtaining every has-been QB he can, traded for him anyhow and tried to talk him into coming to training camp.

June 20, 2008  09:40 PM ET

"that means the Bucs have 6 quarterbacks on the roster."

That's not enough for Gruden. He collects useless QB's then does everything in his power to piss them off.

June 20, 2008  09:50 PM ET

this is kind of old news...

June 20, 2008  10:00 PM ET

why is it 'wrong' ?
stupid ?.....maybe.....but wrong?

June 20, 2008  10:04 PM ET

Yea, this is definitely old news.

So they had 5 qbs before. Plummer is at least the top 2 qb on that team along with Garcia. If Garcia goes down, Plummer is definetly a solid backup qb and along with the veteran presence he brings, its a good singing
