Beasley will go 1st overall.
The Bulls already have solid guards on their roster with guys like Kirk Hinrich, Ben Gordon, and Larry Hughes. They also have a solid future guard in Thabo Sefolosha.
The weak part on this team is the big men. They already have a small forward in Luol Deng, though Beasley would be a solid starting pf, or he could even backup Deng at small forward or Nocioni/Gooden at pf. Beasley would be the future of this team. The Bulls will select him over guys like Mayo and Rose becuase they are not in desperate need of a starting point guard, unlike team like the Heat or T'wolves. Kirk Hinrich was named captain of this team and has averaged nearly 16 ppg and 6.5 a over the last 4 years. Beasley can also shoot the 3 and drive, making him an incredibly versatile forward allowing him to spread the floor for shooters like Hinrich, Ben Gordon, Deng, Nocioni, or Larry Hughes
Bulls Lineup:
PG Hinrich
SG Ben Gordon
SF Luol Deng
PF Michael Beasley or Nocioni
C Drew Gooden

I'm going with the home boy Derrick Rose. Both of these guys obviously have the potential to go first overall, but, I think Derrick Rose has more potential to become a great player. Plus, he the Bulls know that Rose really wants to play for them. That may mean a lower pay check for the Bulls to give. Anyway, if they take Rose, most likely they'll trade Hinrich. That can be one way to get a big man in return. Trust me, there are some teams that would have definite interest in him. Another way for them to get a big man is to draft one in the second round, or even trade the second rounder and Kirk to get back in the first. And just to put it out there, does the name Thabo Sefolosha sound like a good basketball player name?

The Bulls will not trade Kirk Hinrich. He is the "leader" and captain of this team and still has good years ahead of him. If they traded Kirk and drafted Rose, they would lose leadership from the pg as well as a player with league experience. Looking to Michael Beasley, he is a leader. He pretty much single handedly led his team to the NCCAs. I think that Beasley is a better fit for the Bulls. Mayo/Rose would be better suited playing the pg for the heat or T'Wolves. By the way..who is the point guard on those two teams? Yeah I don't know either.

The way the Bulls have been heading, if they don't pick the right player, they're going to be in a huge whole. If I'm the Bulls, I pick athleticism and ability over a captain. Derrick Rose will have a better career than Kirk. Rose will also have a better career if he goes to the Bulls than if Beasley were to go to Chicago. Basically what we're doing now is seeing who we'd take between Rose, Beasley, AND Heinrich. Heinrich, no doubt has the captain inside him, but if you would seriously take him over Rose, who will have better years and even more years than Kirk, your team is in trouble. Getting back to Beasley-Rose comparisons: Rose, like I said has more athleticism and ability than Beasley. Beasley does not have the the athleticism to go up against other PF's in the league, while Derrick Rose can with other PG's. The only concern with Rose's game is his outside shot. But one PG who also had that problem was Chris Paul and look how he's doing.

Im not saying that Hinrich will be a better player than Rose..he won't. But he needs to keep this team stable. Remember, the Bulls won 50 games 2 seasons ago with Hinrich leading them and without guys like Larry Hughes and Drew Gooden. Hinrich has proved he can lead the team, though if the Bulls have an off-year like last year changes will be made, though I do not see that happening if they draft Beasley.
Beasley absolutely has the athleticsim to go up against other forwards in this league. Look at Kevin Durant..the guy is a bean pole and people thought his strength/athletiscm would be a liability in his first season and it wasn't. Beasley if similar to durant, in that both of them play the forward position and can shoot the lights out as well as drive the land and post up. But, Beasley has great size at 6'8" and 240 pounds, giving him great size for the forward position in the NBA. With his size and NBA-ready body, Beasley will be a great frontcourt addition to the Bulls lineup

Wow, leading the Bulls without Hughes and Gooden. Cause Hughes never gets hurt or cries like a baby when he doesn't get what he wants. So far we've compared Beasley to Durant and Rose to Chris Paul. In my opinion, most people would pick Paul in his prime over Durant in his prime. Now both are a good pick, but, the NBA is starting to become a PG's league with guys like Paul, Deron Williams, Rajon Rondo, etc.

Like I said earlier, the Bulls need to get better right away because if they do the wrong thing, they'll end up with the most ping pong balls next year. The best thing for them to do would be to get Rose and trade Heinrich for an already proven forward. The Bulls won't miss Kirk that much if they can get a better replacement. You don't always need that one leader. If the team can come together as one, the don't need that one leader. Just look at the Celtics. They had one leader for a long time, Paul Pierce, and never got to the Finals.. They bring in more superstars and they win the Finals in their first year. The Bulls can accomplish this by getting the better talent in Rose.

Mmmm. this is my first TD in a while.

I used to think it was Beasley, but now i think its Rose. Rose is who the Bulls need

June 21, 2008  12:52 AM ET

I agree that Beasley is a better fit in the Bulls offense and he will stretch out the floor for the Bulls shooters lineup

The question is...does anyone really care? This is a HORRIBLE year to hold the #1 overall selection.

I'm leaning to vote left with 'Beasley' but i'll hold off for final arguments.

They'll take Rose. He game is more well rounded, IMO. Beasley is a scorer and really that is his main threat. Watched alot of his games, living in Kansas and though I think he will be a good player in the NBA, I just think he'll be more of a scoring threat....not a leader. Rose has the ability to to be a great player who elevates those around him. Beasley doesn't have that. Maybe in time he'll mature, but........

Why is OJ Mayo even included in this throwdown?

June 21, 2008  10:40 AM ET

Your out of your mind if you think that gordon and Hinrich are solid guards... its got to be Rose, all the way.

June 21, 2008  11:20 AM ET

Beasley but ----------------------------------------------------->

Better arguments

June 21, 2008  12:10 PM ET

Hinrich isnt the reason his team imploded

June 21, 2008  12:16 PM ET

I think Rose, and it makes sense for the Bulls, and LYNCH is right. It would be a good way to get a bigger amn in on the team.

June 21, 2008  12:16 PM ET

oops, man on the team.

June 22, 2008  01:08 AM ET

ive always thought rose would go #1 but i do think that beasley is a better option for the team. this was similar to my first throwdown. the bulls need more help at the 4 spot than at the guard positions. but because i am almost positive rose will go 1, i have to agree with the right
