Curt is/was depending on whether he threw is last pitch a very good pitcher.. However considereing the guys that are not in the hall and his stats he is not

Curt Schilling currently has 72 fewer wins than Tommy John, 71 fewer than Bert Blyleven.. He also has less wins than Joe Niekro who is not even in..

He has never lead the league in Era.. which not every hall of famer has but most are dominant and Schilling is not even been one of the top 10 pitchers during his career..
when i clicked compare stats these names popped up
Kevin Brown
Bob Welch
Orel Hershiser
Mike Mussina
Freddie Fitzsimmons
Milt Pappas
Dazzy Vanc
Jim Perry
not a group of Hall of Famers.. maybe mussina but he will have to pitch more if he wants to get to 300 wins but besides the point is there were a lot other guys who still have not gotten in that prove better then him..

If you want to say he was a big game pitcher i will give you that but during the postseason he has had guys that were better than him on his team
Ex. 2001 Schilling was 4-0 while his teammate randy Johnson was 5-1.. Johnson won 3 games in the Worls Series to Schillings 1

HOW IS HE NOT!!! he has won 2 world series in the last 4 years with the red sox's and has been one of the key pitchers on both of those teams. 7 years ago, shilling had 22 wins and 6 losses, the next year he put up 23 wins and 7 losses. Then 4 years ago he had 21 wins and 6 losses (the year the redsox won the world series). Then 2 years ago he had 15 wins and 7 losses at the age of 40!!! He may not have as many wins as other hall of famers, but he has 3,100 K's. But the most important stat is that he is 10-2 in the post season with a 2.23 ERA. He is one of the great postseason pitchers of all time. He should get into the hall of fame without the postseason #'s, but once you throw those in, he is easily a HOFer.

You name those great years then you show he only has 216 wins
he has only had more than 15 wins in a season 6 times
he has had under 10 wins in a season 6 times!!!!!!!
HALL OF FAMER????
you kidding me
Randy Johnson, Roger Clemens, Johan Santana, Mike Mussina, Tom Glavine, John SMotlz, Greg Maddux, Pedro Martinez , Mariano Rivera, Trevor Hoffman, Andy Pettite,
All of those guys are far superior than schilling and they pitched in the same era as him.. He was not dominant. Did not have any blowing away stats.
Never won a cy young

Ever heard of an injury.... possibly you have but i dont know cuz you are probably retarded, they make you play less cames and make you play not at your highest level. Schilling has had a few of those, that was probably why he did not win over 10 games in some seasons. Schilling is going to be in the hall of fame and you know it, he may not be the most dominating pitcher, but he always got the job done. Especially in the playoffs. 10-2 in the playoffs with a 2.2 era is amazing, and was always one of the key players to his teams sucess.

all you have said is the postseason thats all u got

He has had 4 losing seasons
over 3.5 10 times
No majoraward (MVP, CY YOung)
Postseason will not get u into the era
he shouldnt be in because Orel Hershiser, Jerry Cuzman, Jerry Roice,Bert Blyleven, Tommy John, Jamie Moyer (currently) all have more wins and some with double digits more and are not inning

If you want to say well he had moments then why isnt ORel in for his 55+ scoreless innings streak.. Curt was not superior to other pitchers during his time
5 real losing seasons.. has less k's than some that are in the hall

"Postseason will not get u into the era".... what is the era? And he probably does have less k's as other players that are in the hall of fame, everybody in the hall of fame has less k's than somebody(except for nolan ryan, most k's- 5,714) Shilling is currently 15th on the all-time strikeout leaderboard, and only needs a few more to pass Bob gibson for 14th all time. Shilling has never been the most dominating pitcher, but he has always been one of the bests, and always puts up big numbers. Plus, wins arent everything, he was on horrible teams for awhile (example- phillies) so even though he pitched well he did not get run support of defensive help.

CURT SHILLING DESERVES TO BE IN THE HALL OF FAME, AND WILL GET INTO THE HALL OF FAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Schilling is a HOFer. Hopefully his bloody sock will make it in too.

June 23, 2008  07:22 PM ET

Good argument, the only thing i dont like about it is how you have different stats compared from different pitchers....you cant just take one stat form this category and compare against this pitcher and another against this pitcher....it has to be a collective reading of his stats compared to the entire field of pitchers....while i dont think he is a HOFer.... it is only fair to give him an across the board comparision...

June 23, 2008  07:29 PM ET

i think he is a hall of famer, but im voting <----------- because of a better argument

June 23, 2008  07:29 PM ET

I vote for Schilling, but only after Jack Morris, who won 254 games, and 3 world series rings. Morris won more game in the 1980's than any other pitcher. Both Schilling and Morris dominated post-season play.

June 23, 2008  07:35 PM ET

so easily everyone forgets schillings bad years....

half the time he was pitching he had a losing season....yep 10 seasons of more LOSSES than wins....not to mention those years came in his prime too! the guy Has had NO CY Youngs, no ERA titles and less SO and wins than players who aren't even in the HOF....

if there was a Boston R.S HOF he's all over it, but MLB? nahhhh

June 23, 2008  08:02 PM ET

Wins and losses are the worst possible way to judge a pitcher's greatness. The Phillies teams he played for "in his prime" were atrociously bad.

Also, I didn't realize this until I looked at it, but the three Cy Young winners who finished ahead of him when he finished second had more or less all-time great seasons. You know, not like Brandon Webb last year.

June 23, 2008  08:22 PM ET

Hey Girardi, The Moose's career isn't even over yet.

June 23, 2008  08:22 PM ET

The baseball-reference thing mainly compares Wins and Losses, and then ERA and other stats. Trust me, Curt is Hall material.

June 23, 2008  08:27 PM ET

i said that pride

June 23, 2008  08:27 PM ET

I doubt you could find a half-dozen pitchers who pitched close to as many innings as Curt in the postseason and did as good as or better than him.

June 23, 2008  08:39 PM ET

I commented on another thread regarding Schilling.......
that he is IN FACT a likely steroid/HGH user....

Fact is that in 01 & 02 & 04..........his best seasons....
he was 34, 35 & 37 years old.

Power pitchers DO NOT get better with age- without some help.

And even if you don't beieve he was a user.....
he only had 4 seasons that are Hall worthy.
- GREAT post season pitcher-
but just misses the HOF

June 23, 2008  08:40 PM ET

sorry meant to say not in the hall on the last sentence of last argument sorry bout that error*********************************************************** ************

June 23, 2008  08:42 PM ET

"Ever heard of an injury.... possibly you have but i dont know cuz you are probably retarded."

Oh wow. Haha. Wow. It just gets better and better.

June 23, 2008  08:43 PM ET

I have to say Schilling will be a hall of famer, but most definitely not first ballot.

June 23, 2008  09:31 PM ET

Schilling will be in the Hall. 3 20 win seasons, 3 300-K seasons, and one of the best post-season resumes of any pitcher ever. The win total is not the only criteria, and we all know that wins are due more to the team than to the pitcher.

He has the best K:BB ratio of any active pitcher and has led the league 5 times. Led the league in Ks twice, les the league in complete games 4 times.

I hate the guy and think he's a jerk. But he'll make the Hall.

June 23, 2008  09:36 PM ET

better argument left... all right can do is yell and scream... cyberly. that really intimidates me...(sarcasm)

June 23, 2008  11:40 PM ET

wins have something to do with the pitcher porkins.. i ish i would've argued this with you because all the guy says is stuff people say below .. he compares schilling to bob gibson.. look at gibson's number and schillings are u kidding me
gibson vs schilling
251 wins 216
**2.91era 3.5
2 cy youngs 0
1 MVP 0
2 world series mvp 1 co-mvp
1968 1.12 ERA !!!!!!!!!!!! 1992 2.34

DONT COMPARE HIM TO ONE OF THE GREATES ALL TIME
