C-Brian McCann
1B-Mark Texiera
2B-Dan Uggla .294 BA/23 HR/57 RBI/.372 OBP He has a better BA, more HR, less RBI, and the same OBP in less AB. He is better than Chase Utley this year, and he has been doing a lot to help out that Marlins team. He is a huge reason why the Marlins are doing so well.
SS-Hanley Ramirez
3B-Chipper Jones
LF-Pat Burrell
CF-Carlos Beltran
RF-Ryan Church
SP-Tim Hudson
SP-Johan Santana
SP-Jair Jurrjens
SP-Cole Hamels
SP-John Lannon 3.34 ERA/4-8/55 SO/28 BB/33 ER/34 R/87 hits Compared to John Maine, who pitched one less inning than Lannon, Lannon has a better ERA, worse record (team), less SO, less BB, less ER, less R, and more hits. Even though Lannon pitches for a crappy team and he doesn't get a lot of run support, he still gets guys out. He has given up 9 more hits than Maine has in only 1 more inning, but he has given up 6 LESS runs. That means that he doesn't let those batters who get on base, score. He gets outs. That is what you want for a pitcher.
CP-Brad Lidge
Differences:
Dan Uggla vs Chase Utley
John Lannon vs John Maine

Well, Utley has struck out a lot less than Uggla, 20 strickeouts are the difference, 86-46. Also, the difference are very small, Uggla has a better BA by .003 points .294 to .291, Uggla has 1 more HR, but as you said Utley has more RBI, 63-57. Utley has also had more AB which lowered his average. Utley also has 6 SB, compared to Uggla's 4, plus Uggla has be caught once, Utley hasn't been caught.
Yes, probaly Lannon would do better if he ws on a good team, not the Nats. Now, with Maine he is still doing good, he strikes out a lot of guys, he has a 7.77 K/9 ratio, while Lannon has a 5.56. Now Lannon is a little better than Maine BB/9, 3.78 for Maine and 2.83 for Lannon.. Maine is a little better in H/9 8.08 to 8.80 for Lannon. Maine is better in BAA .238- .255, so you said Lannan gets outs than why is their a better BAA??
Also, Lannan SLGA is worse .396 to Maine's .373, but their OBPA is even.
More to come in the next arguement
Dyhard:Homecoming Week said 06/24, 12:40 PM
With the RBI argument, Utley has played in more games and has gotten more at-bats, so that means that with the less at-bats Uggla has, Uggla has gotten very close to the same number of RBI's, so that means that he has had better production numbers.
Uggla has a good BA and has been doing very well and has good production numbers, which you want from your players.
Uggla also has really been helping out the Florida Marlins to get to the record that they have. He has been a huge part of their team.
Uggla is the better 2nd baseman this year.
Lannon has a better ERA, but a worse record because he plays for the Nationals, which aren't good this year.
Lannon doesn't need to strikeout players to get outs. He has baserunners, but he doesn't let them score.
Lannon doens't walk players, and if he does, they don't score. Maine has a problem with keeping players from scoring, unlike Lannon.
So Lannon gives up about 1 more hit per 9 innings, but he doesn't let those players score, like Maine does.
Lannon might have players get on, but when players are on, he gets outs. He can get out of innings without the opponents scoring with runners on base.
More to come

Well, lets see the Marlins are in second place behind who?? The Phils, Utley's team, so that shows Uggla hasn't helped his team so much that their behind Utley's Phils and also who started off hotter Utley did, he is in a minor slump and will bounce back.
Lannon is an average pitcher. Maines is better. With more strikeouts you get less runners on so that is better. There is not much more the explain but to show that Maine has better numbers and if he gave up less hits and walked less he would have a better ERA.

Well, let's see, were the Marlins suppose to be this good this year? With the loss of Dontrelle Willis and Miguel Cabrera, the Marlins were suppose to finish 4th or 5th in the division and weren't suppose to be this good, at this point in the season. Who has led this Marlin team to the record that they have? It has been Dan Uggla.
It doesn't really matter who started out hotter, it matters as who is more consistent and according to you, Uggla is more consistent, as you said that Utley is in a "minor slump".
What says that his slump is minor? It could be a big slump and last for a month. He hasn't been doing well at all in his recent games. In his last 10 games Utley is 4-38. That is a .105 BA. That isn't good at all.
Dan Uggla is the better second baseman.
Lannon is an average pitcher but Maine isn't? Look at Maine's career numbers, Maine is an average pitcher.
Maine gives up LESS hits and strikeouts or more, but ALLOWS MORE RUNS than Lannon does. That is the one thing you want in a pitcher, a pitcher that DOESN'T give up runs.
Maine already gives up less hits than Lannon, but Maine still has a worse ERA.
Lannon is a better pitcher than Maine.
