List first, then argue 2nd and 3rd.
1. Tim Tebow
2. Knowshon Moreno
3. Pat White
4. Chase Daniel
5. Sam Bradford

Yes, I realize that this is different from my blog, but I have changed my mind.
1. Tebow
2. Chris "Beanie" Wells
3. White
4. Moreno
5. Daniel

Moreno vs Wells
First off, last year Moreno had to share time with Thomas Brown, the talented senior running back, while "Beanie" had the whole backfield to himself. In that way, Wells has more yards and attempts.
Their average yards per rush are about equal:
Moreno- 5.4
Wells- 5.9
Moreno has one less touchdown than Wells, and he had to share time with Brown! Moreno(14), Wells(15)
Moreno has had the longest run of the two.
Moreno- 80
Wells- 65
Both are explosive and strong backs, but I give the edge to Moreno because of another factor. He is a much better receiver.
Yards per catch:
Moreno- 12.7
Wells- 4.2
Wells had 5 receptions for 21 yards, while Moreno had 20 for 253 yards! Knowshon is also a great pass blocker. I debated heavily on Bradford and Wells, but decided to go with Bradford at 5.
3,121 yards, 36 TDs, 176.5 RAT. 69.5 completion percentage all for the FRESHMAN last year! With a full year of starter experience under his belt, he is prepared for anything. To me those are remarkable stats. Out of room...Will continue.

Moreno does not have the edge because he is a better receiver out of the backfield. In fact, Wells just isn't a receiving back. Not everyone can be Brian Westbrook.
Yards per carry is a better indicator when you get more carries, because it is harder to keep it up the more you run. Brown was there to take the pressure off of Moreno. Even if they weren't in at the same time, you could never know what was going to happen. Moreno had a much better quarterback running the offense in Stafford, and that does help out a running back, whether you believe it or not.
Moreno didn't even share it that much, considering Brown was injured for a portion of the year.
Wells had all of the pressure on him, and he still did an amazing job of producing. He was Ohio State's offense. Moreno was one of really three people sharing the pressure last year on the Georgia offense. It wasn't all on him, and he still wasn't as good.
I must say that I am a fan of Bradford, but stats aren't everything. He is going to be a top five quarterback, but not a top five Heisman candidate. The only real shot he has is Oklahoma being in the title hunt, which will be hard after losing Kelly and his top back.
Undefeated: Phelps is beast said 06/25, 11:17 AM
There is no telling what kind of numbers Moreno would have put up if Brown had not been at UGA. Yards per carry is a good indicator, but the numbers are so close it really does not make for a good argument.
You don't think Oklahoma will be in the title hunt? I believe the Sooners will get there, and that will only help his chances. I don't see anyone but Missouri giving Oklahoma a run for their money in the Big 12. He is a better quarterback than Chase Daniel, but Daniel has a little more talent on the offensive side, with Maclin as his best receiver to help his Heisman chances.
Even if Moreno didn't share much due to Brown's injury, the fact is they shared time. Now the reigns have been handed over to Moreno with full time. I am excited to see what he will do this year in the SEC. Last year, he brought back memories of another UGA great who electrified as a freshman- Herschel Walker.
The way your argument is stated, you seem as if you think Moreno had no pressure on him. He is a running back in the SEC! If that isn't pressure, I don't know what is.
Bigdleech: 27=better than 36! said 06/25, 01:06 PM
Look, Oklahoma should hover around tenth, but they are not the best team in the Big 12. That title will belong to Missouri, and Texas Tech may end up being number two with their electric offense. Oklahoma lost a lot to early entries in the draft, as well as Patrick. Missouri still has their second best player on the team. Maclin may have been the second most talented freshman in the nation last year(behind Crabtree).
YPC can be a good indicator, as I stated, but it is a better indicator when you have more runs. Therefore, the higher YPC with more carries helps Beanie.
Where do I say that he didn't have pressure on him? He did have some on him, just not as much as Wells had. As I pointed out, Georgia had other weapons for defenses to look out for, while Ohio State relied completely on Wells. They had decent receivers, but Boeckman ultimately is not much better than an average quarterback. Stafford may be the number one pick in the draft next year.
Beanie Wells is still the most talented running back in the nation. Even if you want to put Moreno above him(which he shouldn't be), you have to at least have Wells on the list. A lot of people see him as the Heisman favorite.

Couldn't decide who would be fourth, Daniel or Moreno.

Report Offensive CommentWith all due respect to Knowshon, Wells is still the nation's best RB at this point. And while I think bradofrd is going have his name tossed around, he won't be in the Top 5 as a sophomore. Leaning right, but I'll wait for arguments.

Report Offensive CommentTebow is the obvious favorite. His numbers probably will take a dip with Florida's improved running game with Moody. Pat White would be second on my list because he plays in a weaker conference and should put up big numbers as the primary guy on his team much like Tebow did last year. Moreno will be hurt by the fact that Florida will beat them and win the SEC so Wells would be third on mu list. Moreno and then Chase Daniels last.

Report Offensive CommentSorry Undefeated but Bigdleech has you here. Chris Wells is definitely Heisman considerable. Ohio State is traditionally a team that relies on their running back and this big bruiser is going to rack up some yards.
Vote right.
