Who will be MVP for the upcoming NBA season? There are a lot of choices out there, but I am going with King Lebron James.

He is the best player in the game, and he carries the Cleveland franchise, he is the total package, last year was Kobe's turn, but Lebron is a player still on the horizon of his career, and is widely already considered the best in the league.

Look for around 28 ppg, 14 rpg, around 7 apg, there is just no downfall to this kid, and the Cavs may be on of the East's biggest contenders, so what he does will mean more if they can be a top 2-3 seat instead of the 4th, I don't want to waste all.my stuff on the first argument.

I've got to go with Chris Paul, he was without a doubt the runner up last season in voteing and here's the main reason Why...

MVP voters like players on a top 3 team in the NBA, and let's face it The Cavilers are not gonna be in the top 3 team sin the NBA, but Chris Paul's Hornets without a doubt will be which i beleive will give CP3 the edge over Lebron when the stats are very even.

Last season CP3 lead the league in assist and steals and next season you can expect those stats to get even better.

And 10 RPG is way out of reach for Lebron, considering that he got less than half of that last season and will be playing much more of the Guard position this year than last year which mean less rebounds....

Thats who I thought you would go with, and to correct myself in my first argument, it should say 10 rpg instead of 14, and according to

http://www.nba.com/cavaliers/stats/

he had 7.8 Rebounds per game, so either your source or mine is wrong, and Lebron is the most popular, and arguably the best player in the games, the MVP means most valuable player to their respected team, and Cleveland is nothing without Lebron James, Chris Paul is a great player, but the Hornets are stacked, and most of their players are young, Lebron means more to the Cavs than CP3 does to the Hornets.

Lebron is still nowhere near at his peak, and last year he beat Kobe in almost every category, and he will only improve this year, and that will be scary for defenders to shut him down, I may be giving him too few points because according to my link above he had over 28 ppg last year, so it could be 30, that's all for this argument, good luck

Let me break down the three main Criteria people look for in there league MVP
1. plays for a top 3 team in the NBA
2. is a valuable part of his team
3. great stats

Look at the past winners of the award
2008- Kobe
2007- Dirk
2006- Nash
2005- Nash

Each one these played on a team that was in the top 3 in the NBA, while Lebron plays with a mediocre at best supporting cast which mean that there is no way that Lebron's Cavilers will end up in the top 3 teams in the NBA...

Let's look at stats...
Points- Paul 21.1, James 30
Rebounds- Paul 4, James 7.8
Assist- Paul 11.6 , James 7.0
Steals- Paul 2.7, James 1.8
FG%- 48.8%, 48.4%
FT%- 85.1%, 71.2%
3P%- 36.9%, 31.5%
Chris Paul beats Lebron in Major categories 5-2

So Paul had better stats than Lebron last season, so assuming there stats both increase around the same amount next season you can tell that Chris Paul has obviously better stats...

So Chris Paul Has better stats and plays for a better team, so he takes 2 of the 3 points of the criteria, so it's obvious that he is a better candidate....

You also got to see that CP3 has a better team around him, James is a one man show, and he may not be on a top 3 team, but they are a top 3 team in the East, and he has no fear, can challenge and beat everyone when he drives, he is the most feared player in the NBA, and he will improve.

For number two on your list, Lebron is Cleveland, he is the team, if Lebron doesn't play, the Cavs might as well not play, but CP3 has better depth, they have West, Stajovich(spell), Chandler, Chris Anderson, and the list goes on.

For number 3 on your criteria, he put up better numbers thatn Kobe this year, and he puts up great stats, like I said earlier, Most Valuable Player means most valuable to the team, and Lebron is more valuable to the Cavs than CP3 is to the Hornets, and that's a fact, for example, A-rod won with the Rangers, a last place team, because he was more valuable to his team than any other player, that's what the award is all about.

Yes I did say that CP3 had the better team around him, that's one of the three main criteria people look for in a great MVP candidate so he most likely gets the edge in that category...

But think about this, What is this team without Chris Paul, It's a bunch of role players with no real leader on there team, while Cleveland at least has a few veterans on there team to maybe make the playoffs in an extremely weak western conference...

Also I'm not sure of the exact stats, but I saw some stat the other night that showed that Cleveland was like 11-4 all-time when Lebron is injured, I just thought that was a worthy stat...

And also Lebron put up better stats then Kobe, but not by that much, Kobe was on a much better team, so he took that part of the Criteria and since it's LA he got an unfair edge on Lebron because everybody has a man-crush on the Lakers....

Paul has better all-around stats, he wins more alot to his team on and off of the court so it seems that he takes the 3 main points of the criteria over Lebron, so why can't he be MVP?

Happy Voting!!!!

14 rebounds??

June 27, 2008  10:13 PM ET

that was a typo, it should say 10, not a great typer, especially on the number pad

June 27, 2008  10:45 PM ET

I'm an idiot, those were playoff stats, god I need a rebound now

June 27, 2008  10:47 PM ET

actually this makes it better for me

http://www.nba.com/cavaliers/stats/2007/index.html

he got 7.9 rpg last year and 30 ppg, so I definatly underestimated the points

I dunno about 14 rpg for Lebron, but it's only a matter of time until he's MVP. I think a large portion of Chris Paul's candidacy came from the surprising season of the Hornets, and they won't surprise anyone next year.

June 28, 2008  12:41 AM ET

I'm sayin CP3's year is next year. The people around him are only that good because of his presence. LeBron makes some of his teammates better no doubt but not like CP3 does. And I think that how good the team is has a lot to do with it. The MVP's team has to be at least top 3 in their conference or there are questions about how valuable the player actually was. I love LeBron, he's my favorite player but I like the arguments on the right better.

June 28, 2008  03:54 AM ET

"the MVP means most valuable player to their respected team"

No it doesn't. It means the most valuable player in the league. Best player in the game. And it's largely a popularity contest, anyhow. Using your theory, Dewayne Wade was the MVP last year. Obviously HE was the most valuable player to his team since they absolutely SUCKED without him. ;-)

June 28, 2008  03:56 AM ET

Trying to predict a MVP candidate this time of year is a waste of time. Everyone who thought CP3 would be in the running this time last year, raise your hand...That's what I thought. Now he's a favorite to win it next year?

LEBRON

I go left

Close on the arguments tho but LEBRON IS FOR REAL

June 28, 2008  09:49 AM ET

I don't think Wade would have been MVP given that he missed half the season CCC.

Kobe

June 28, 2008  02:01 PM ET

Chris Paul just had his career year. Lebron is only a great teammate away from having enough pressure taken off he can snag an MVP easier.

June 28, 2008  09:30 PM ET

I agree that LeBron is one good team mate away from having multiple MVP years but then again the Cav's failed to get that player. Voting right... ====>>

Don't hate on me. I'm a Cav's Fan. I just don't understand or agree with their management team.
