The Clevelad Cavaliers proposed a trade to the New Jersey Nets.

Nets Get:
Wally Sczerbiak

Cavs Get:
Vince Carter

This would be a huge deal for the Cavs if it goes through. They would no doubt be a team to beat among the NBA

Starting 5:

PG: Delonte West
SG: Vince Carter
SF: LeBron James
PF: Ben Wallace
C: Z (No idea how to spell his name)

Bench: Boobie Gibson, Darnell Jackson, Sasha Kaun, Damon Jones, Lance Allred, Devin Brown, Dwayne Jones, Sasha Pavlovic, Joe Smith, E Snow,

That is a very contending team who made it to the Finals two years ago and to the 2nd round this year before getting beat by the Camps.

IF this trade goes through and the Cavs do end up with Vincanity... Watch out because the Cavaliers will be a team to beat... Not only in the East, but I belive in the NBA.

If Cleveland pulls through on this deal, it might help them a little bit, but I still can't see them getting a higher seed than 3rd or 2nd and I would still highly doubt that they would make the playoffs.

Vince Carter may have a big name to get the fans excited but he is not as clutch as he used to be, his scoring has dropped, he doesn't come up in big moments and he is getting older.

Even with Carter, all they pretty much would have is LeBron James. Carter might help win five games or something like that.

Losing Wally Sczerbiak is kind of big. He was a clutch performer last year that did wel lin the playoffs.

You have to remember the teams in the West like the San Antonio Spurs, New Orleans Hornets, Utah Jazz, and the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Cavs won't even be the best in the East. Does their roster look any better than any of these?

BOS

C - Kendrick Perkins
PF - Kevin Garnett
SF - Paul Pierce
SG - Ray Allen
PG - Rajon Rondo

ORL

C - Dwight Howard
PF - Rashard Lewis
SF Hedo Turkoglu
SG - Maurice Evans
PG - Jameer Nelson

DET

C - Rasheed Wallace
PF - Jason Maxiell
SF - Tayshaun Prince
SG - Rip Hamilton
PG - Chauncey Billups/Rod Stuckey

I think they will be ahead of the PIstons definetly...

If Dumars is going to trade Billups...which seems like is going to happen... The Pistons will be losing their best player. Billups is the cornerstone for that team and he keeps them going... With him gone they will not be nearly as good.

Yes Carter is getting older and isnt the same... But He is what the Cavs need. He had a little over 21 PPG last year and has just been under the radar ever since he went to NJ.

Carter would be that missing piece that would give the Cavs the boost they need. LeBron has been wanting a guy like this for a while now and I see them working very well together.

Now Wally. Yes he was DECENT last year. He only averaged 10 PPG. Losing him is definetly not going to hurt the Cavs in the future...

Vince is what they need to be serious contenders in the East. Also they will be more gelled as a team once Wallace and West get used to the Cavs offense...

First of all, I meant that they will not make the FINALS, I am sure they will make the playoffs, but not the finals.

Billups is likely to go but the Pistons also might recieve somebody in return like Carmelo Anthony, Allen Iverson, Marcus Camby or Tracy McGrady. This will surely help them.

Carter has bad chemistry with practically everyone. Why didn't the Nets make the playoffs last year? The talent was there . . . the Nets didn't make the playoffs last year because Carter started mouthing off about everybody and completely ruined any chemistry there might have been. If they would have gotten Carter, there wouldn't have been much chemisry.

Gaining Carter will ruin the Cavs future. They would still probably get a 4th or a 5th seed and Carter will start declining - Carter won't be as good as last year (which wasn't that good, terrible in the clutch) he is one year older . . .

San Antonio has won every other year for a few years . . . New Orleans is a young team that should be better and the Lakers will be a Finals contender, Utah, Denver, Golden State and Houston are still good . . .

In the East, Boston, Detroit, Orlando, Toronto, and Miami (maybe) could all be beTter than the Cavs this season, not to mention some teams that got stronger in the draft. Cleveland wouldn???t see much of an improvement and would not make the Finals.

Forfeited Turn

I just went on ESPN, the Nets rejected this offer without a doubt.

There isn't really anything to argue with my opponent foreiting his turn.

The trade didn't happen, I don't know wh ywe are arguing this but . . .

The Cleveland Cavaliers will probably get a 3rd or 4th seed and get knocked out in the second or third round - they won't win the championship.

im not sure the nets would do that

June 28, 2008  09:55 PM ET

How are you going to argue this one other than using the fact that Carter is a team killer, i am interested to see how Detroit Steel goes

June 28, 2008  09:56 PM ET

After next year the Nets may do that as Wally contract nears expiration and Carter will have another year on the decline. However, I still don't think that the Nets do the trade because they are trying to woo Lebron, and sending a star to his team is not going to encourage him to leave it.

June 28, 2008  09:58 PM ET

thebasketballguru, we are not arguing whether this trade should go through or not, we are arguing how good the Cavs will be with him

June 28, 2008  09:59 PM ET

I know

June 28, 2008  10:00 PM ET

I am using the fact that he is a team killer making them worse

June 28, 2008  10:05 PM ET

This deal was already scrapped but, hey lets dream a while.

June 28, 2008  10:08 PM ET

I honestly don't know why they don't let Gibson off the bench. Let him get some experience. The kid can play. Yeash!!!!!!!

Oh yeah the Nets thought about this deal for like 4-5 minutes and then said no without even hanging up. There was one call. Done and gone or so the report wen't.

Guy on right say Cavs dont make playoffs next year. WHAT?

EASY vote left

June 28, 2008  10:20 PM ET

Why thank you Brett Favre

June 28, 2008  10:27 PM ET

When did she ever say that the Cavs wouldn't make the playoffs next year?

June 28, 2008  10:31 PM ET

"and I would still highly doubt that they would make the playoffs. "

June 28, 2008  10:40 PM ET

Why on gods green earth would the Nets make this trade?

Cap space. But still, between the trade of Richard Jefferson and this, is Thorn trying to start a massive riot in New Jersey???

June 28, 2008  11:11 PM ET

"Guy on right say Cavs dont make playoffs next year. WHAT?"

That is a girl.

June 29, 2008  12:10 PM ET

Sorry, I meant championship

June 30, 2008  09:56 PM ET

Why is Trade Arroyo getting votes? Because he started getting mad because he was losing than forfeited a turn?
