How Come?

How come were not supposed to bring race into the discussion of sport? It seems ludicris to me that we are supposed to stay away from this topic. Let's look at some things that are about as close to fact as you can get in sport:
White Running Backs don't work anymore. Since the 80's can someone please name me a true white RB (NFL)that people feared or was more then barley effective. Yet we can't say that.
Modern White WR's are few and far between and still don't stack up to African American WR's.
Ditto for Corner Backs. Yet we can't say that
American Asians (so far) can't play RB. and I am Asian

We can't say that yes there was a thing called slavery (as deplorable as that is) we can't say that slave owners bred their slaves to be the biggest and strongest they could be, maximizing their investment. Sick? Yes however that is what occured.

So why can't we, it's America we should be able to talk about the issue of race in sports without being called racists names, or inciting a riot. I see nothing wrong with bringing race into the discussion if it is applicable.

Don't get me wrong there are some instances where race doesn't belong, but why shouldn't we talk about it.

Oh boy, this is a tough one, but one that I'm willing to at least address.

First and foremost, let's simply dispel and dispense with the myth of the slavery/breeding notion. Anyone with even a rudimentary notion of genetics knows the impossibility of this falsehood. It is misconceived at best, and yes, racist, at worst.

To suggest there are no white RB's (sorry Mike Alstott), or that an Asian can't be a back ( good thing Hines Ward is a WR), or that a white man can't play in the secondary (um, YOU go tell John Lynch), is nothing more than using a false theory of logical reasoning.

It wasn't all that long ago that it was big news for a QB to be African-American. Thankfully, those days are long gone. It was just two years ago that the media trumpeted that there were two black coaches in the Super Bowl.

Seriously, enough already. I'm not trying to incite anything here either, to me it is, and should be a non-issue.

Let me shred your points real quick

First and foremost breeding works. As sick as their programs were the **** germans have mounds and mounds of data to support this. Certain traits i.e. physical prowess can be breed. And I agree its sick but its true. Ever wonder why smart people generally speaking have smart parents. because (and science has proved this) its a trait that can be passed on. L

Alstott was a Full Back, so sorry he don't count
Hines Ward is mixed and as you state a WR so he has no relevance to my argument.

John Lynch is a Safety not a true CB, just because he plays in the secondary doesn't make him a corner.

I never said people cannot rise above the hands they were dealt. Your examples about Black Head coaches winning a SB only validates my point that we should be allowed to discuss it. It was a ground breaking moment in sport. Hence we should recognize those two for being AA and going to the SB, not just being another coach to go. Or maybe we should just say MLK jr was just another human who fought for rights.

Genetic breeding is a proven scientifc fact:
http://www.biofact.com/cloning/

-sigh-
I don't need a biology lesson to know breeding works, just not in your example. From an approach that is purely from the science of genetics, the gene pool sample you describe was quite simply too small. There were not enough generations produced during the (relatively) short period of slavery. Regardless of your assertions, and those of the Germans (?!?), your theory just does not hold water. No need to quote the amazing authority of some half-baked web site, just read a Biology 101 textbook.

As to the players I noted, I wasn't trying to provide examples to dispute your theory, I was merely pointing out that you were narrow-casting your examples merely to support your half-baked theory.

Seriously now, there are football players, black, white, and asian. What difference does it make what position they play? Fullback, not a Running Back??? Please. Stop reading the BS you see on the internet.

It does make a difference. Certain GENES can be bred. Certain GENES can be changed depending on environment. Don't come at me like I don't know what I am talking about here, cause that would be a serious miscalculation on your part. OK fine since you threw that website under the bus how about these ones:
http://www.biopoliticaltimes.org/article.php?id=2037
http://www.aboutintelligence.co.uk/genetic-engineering-boost-intelligence.html

FB in modern football is not a RB. PERIOD. Different roles different posistions. This ain't the golden age of football anymore.

It makes a difference (the posistions played) Y? because premier posistions get more money from the team and from endorsements. When's the last time you saw a Olinemen get 31 mill for 2 years?

It is relevent, everyone knows its relevant, however no one can say it cause if you do you are a racist.

Also I think its important to note that in the future we will all be one color (beige) and we will all have the same genes. That's where we are headed, however until then this discussion should be allowed to occur in an intellegent fashion.

Unless of course you can't handle the discussion without getting firey

Dude, if anyone is getting fiery here it is you not me. Let me refute ALL of your last posts:

Again and slower. Genetic traits can indeed be bred and or changed over TIME. It doesn't happen overnight, outside the lab, a couple hundred years and a dozen generations is NOT going to do the trick.

The first website you posted has three contributors: a lawyer, a social scientist and a political scientist. Not a geneticist or even a biologist there. That's not science, that's propaganda. I didn't bother with the second, since you obviously didn't either.

Mike Alstott had over 7,000 yards and more than 70 TD's in a career that went to 2006. He was an RB in THIS age. PERIOD.

Joe Thomas - $43 mil
Faneca - 40mil
Walter Jones - 52.5 mil (oops he's black, does he count?)
should I go on? There's more...

I'm not saying you can't talk about it, you are...but as to relevance? Why? What is remotely relevant about what race a person might be with regard to the position they play? I'm serious...exactly what knowledge or insight do you gain that makes this "relevant"? Especially since your "science" in the area is wrong.

yes, yes

in truth I was joking, I find myself on the left side of this fence

July 1, 2008  02:18 PM ET

to dispute the fact that the slavery environment altered the gene pool to produce better athletes at this point is simply being stupid, its not racist at all, every race and origion of species has been altered by outside influences and internal environment since the beginning of time, our past is what makes us who we are, slavery is a part of the past, the breeding and genetic effects cant be reasonably disputed in any way

July 1, 2008  02:18 PM ET

I hate this new PC america. You can't say anything without people getting pissed at you as a racist. I have said nothing that in my mind is racist. Maybe a little stereotyping but certainly not racist.

The race card is a gurantee that a conversation will end, good or bad.

July 1, 2008  02:27 PM ET

but why? shouldnt we as americans want to hear all opinions, yes even the ones we despise. I mean that is what this country is supposed to be about.

July 1, 2008  02:29 PM ET

I am a stand for the first ammendment, and everything that comes with it. Do I agree people should burn flags, hell no but should they be allowed to express themselves. YUP. Would I use the N word. Nope, however if people choose to that's their choice. We can try to educate people, to make them not ignorant, but they should have the right to say it.

July 1, 2008  02:31 PM ET

as a true broncos fan, john lynch was the worst player starting in a NFL secondary in the year 2007

TRUE THAT FRANK-HES OVERRATED CAUSE HES WHITE..........HE GOT BURNT A LOT SO HES DARKER NOW-LOL

July 1, 2008  02:46 PM ET

Good arguments, I have noticed how o-lineman and QBs consists of more white people, and positions such as WR, RB, Cb, are mainy minority. No im not racist either.

July 1, 2008  02:52 PM ET

How come we dont even talk no more
And you dont even call no more
We dont barely keep in touch at all
And I dont even feel the same love when we hug no more
And I heard it through the grape vine we even beefin' now
After all the years we been down
Aint no way no how, this **** can't be true
We family aint a damn thing changed, unless it's you!

July 1, 2008  02:53 PM ET

Leaning right...yet again. You first lost me when you said a fullback is not a running back (which besides being wrong, is way off the point being made). Then I read through each argument and saw T-fo was just doing a better job of arguing.
