1st Base: Albert Pujols, has been great whole career at hitting and at feilding. 2nd Base: Chase Utley,an allstar every year and will be for years, very clutch. SS: A-rod, his original position, a future HOFer and puts up great #s every year. 3rd Base: David Wright, all around player will compete for MVP this year still young. Catcher: Jason Varitek, still can hit well but is still amazing at managing pitchers. Pitcher: Brandon Webb, won 16 games and cy young in 06, won 18 in 07 and 12 in 08. will argue OFs in 2nd out of room.

I'm not quite sure where yo are going with this. Some of your selections look like the average all star fan's ballot. I think you have gone with name recognition or past performance over the real leaders by position. Here's what I've come up with:
1B - Pujols, pretty much a given
2B - Utley
SS - HANLEY RAMIREZ
3B - A-ROD (with consideration to Chipper)
C - BRIAN McCANN
SP - JAKE PEAVY
So:
Ramirez vs. A-Rod...Dude this is a walkover. A-Rod hasn't played SS in five years. He's a 3B, face it.
A-Rod vs. Wright - Wright is indeed a fine player, but not as good as A-Rod in his assigned position of 3B.
McCann vs. Varitek - C,mon, Varitek is a fan fave for the Sox, but he's a career .264 hitter and is batting only .216 this season. I'm going with the hot power of McCann getting the slight edge over Mauer.
Peavy vs. Webb - since 2003 Peavy has been better:
Peavy 3.13 ERA 75-49 record 1080 K's
Webb 3.22 ERA 77-59 record 974 K's
Peavy also has had sub-3.00 ERA in 4 of 5 years. Webb has only done it once!

RF:Manny Ramirez, can hit as good as any one today and has great hustle in the outfeild. CF: Carlos Beltran a gold glove cantidate and silver slugger cantidate every year for center field. LF: Vlady, it was tough between him and ordonez but he is less injury prone then maggs so with his arm and crazy swings that make contact i choose vlad. A-rods true position is ss u face it he would play ss if it wasnt for jeter. so with that a-rod is better then hanley. Mccann c'mon varitek might be not as well of a hitter as tek but catchers most important job is to call pitches and block the plate and tek still does that the best, you said peavy well this year peavy is 5-5 with a 2.90 era and has 80 SO's. webb is12-4 with a 3.21 era and 94 SO's. I take webb regardless

So A-Rod is the starting SS because that's where he played 5 years ago, and Webb is better than Peavy based on the first three months of this season. Which is it going to be? Career stats or best performance this year? If that's the case, I wouldn't go with Peavy OR Webb this year.
I'm trying to stay within at least the last few years of data here. My outfield:
LF - MATT HOLIDAY
CF - ICHIRO
RF - Vlad
Holiday vs. Manny - Again with the legend at the position. I'll take the young stud in Holliday. Manny's fun to watch, but hustle in the OF? Would that be when he took a rest behind the scoreboard, or when he high fived the fan?
Ichiro vs. Beltran - Beltran may be a GG, but Ichiro has won twice as many, and is a pure hitting machine.
Varitek may be a fine catcher, but you have to be batting above the Mendoza line to be considered the absolute best at the position.
and finally, A-Rod is a third baseman. If you were doing an all-time team, where would you put Ruth - at pitcher? Cmon.
