The New York Knicks were boo-jammed prior to the draft, picking 6th when we all know there is a league-wide conspiracy to buck the Dolans. They had no choice but to pick the Italian guy, Dinner Calimari.
Think about this though: Had the Knicks stayed on their toes, they could have snagged Davis, Arenas, Smith, Okafor, and Deng to re-invent the franchise for years to come. If you were to assemble this team, it is clear that the Knicks would make the playoffs.
Salary cap shmalary cap. We all know the Knicks will pay for a winner. Hey - they have been trying that for years. If sign & trades were necessary, you can bet that Fester Adams (Donnie Walsh) would get 'er done!
Imagine a Mike D'Antoni offense utilizing the talents (and batsh!t insanity of Arenas) of the men listed above. Luol Deng? Sounds like a dental procedure! And he'd bring dental pain to the opponents. Hardcore.
Plus, there are 5 players here. You need 5 men on the court, and that would qualify the Knicks for the playoffs if they just played them alot and stuff.
Why am I NOT the GM of the Knicks!

I dont know what alternate universe you are living but Arenas and Davis in same backcourt is a chemistry experience gone way wrong........
Smith, Deng and Okafor might be able to co-exist but you would have major problems with that back court......
Part of the reason Davis left NYC was because of the emergence of Monta Ellis and with Harrington, Jackson and Biedrins in the front court.......Davis went to LA because Brand is a selfless and team player......Brand rebounds and plays defene while getting his offense on unscripted (that arent called for him) offensive plays.......
Davis will have the opportunity to run the show.......

A chemistry experience? I know my chemistry. Who says they have to be on the court at the same time? Since they would occupy the same position, they cant possibly exist in the same person, and thats physics.
Physics + logic = Truth. Truth > Chemistry Project.
You didnt mention how talented this team could be. You just went on to describe the reasons they left their old teams. You should opt out of this TD like your name is Baron Davis. And then go to the clippers.
Might be able to co-exist? If you combine the rebounding ability of Okafor with whatever the hell Deng actually does, you have yourself a powerful duo up front.
Davis will get the opportunity to run the show. But what about D'Antoni's show?
Dinner Calamari would have been the 6th man. Can you imagine that? Subbing for that squad? The fundamentally sound Italian Stallion could easily handle such a role.
Honestly, I dont know where your head is at. Baron Davis has more playmaking in his beard than the Knicks do right now. Gilbert Arenas? Anyone?

Its easy to play Fantasy GM and say woulda, coulda, shoulda.........Believe me I know........Sure its a talented squad and looks great on paper........ON PAPER, but sometimes things dont work out that way in REAL LIFE.......
I know they made the playoffs and all but do you remember the Los Angeles Lakers Reloaded with Malone and Payton to Shaq and Kobe???? Everybody thought they would win a title easily????
Didnt work out that way, huh???
Calimari is just like a lot of other Euro players, soft, soft, soft.......

Report Offensive CommentSad thing is even with that lineup the Knicks would probably miss the playoffs. It's still the Knicks. There is enough karma out here to ruin that lineup. Gilbert would probably break a knee cap. Baron Davis would probably spend more time in the clubs then on the court. Emeka would probably crack the first time he gets booed. Luol and Smith would play but they alone wouldn't be enough.
Scenarios...scenarios.

Report Offensive Commenti think if you had arenas playing the 2 gaurd with davis it could work... highly unlikely any team signs all those players in one offseason but the TD says if they had... and im leaning to believe IF THEY HAD they probably would make the playoffs.

Report Offensive CommentThis proposed Knicks team would be fun to watch. If you thought the Suns and Warriors when up and down, this team would be even faster. The only problem would be NO low post scoring which is needed in the playoffs.

Davis left for a long term deal (MONEY) not because Ellis was pushing him for his spot. If Davis is healthy it ain't even close.

Perhaps you should try decaffeinated . You're assuming all these players could be had. Do you realize what that would do to the salary cap. The Knicks need to cut salary--not inflate it.

Report Offensive CommentWonder what the knicks would do if they had a clean slate ..... They would throw money to whoever to build around LBJ when it becomes a FA. Guess what between NJ and NY things are going to be freed up to go after him
