NFL Nation Tourney Round 1: Out of all 2007 division winners, who will have the worst record this year?
Lifer: Metallica Sucks! said 07/06, 02:43 PM
This TD is on who will have the worst record...and to me, this is an easy one.
The team that I feel will have the worst record of all division winners last year will be the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
For starters, they had the worst record of all division winners last year, going just 9-7. There were 7 teams in the AFC alone with a better record!
Now this season? Their QB (Jeff Garcia) is a spry 38 years old, and his top 2 targets are Joey Galloway (36) and Ike Hilliard (32, and not talented).
Not that Garcia is the only playmaker who's old. Derrick Brooks, the best player on the team for awhile, is 35. Ronde Barber is 33. Chris Hovan is 30.
Not that it's only old guys. What about high draft busts? Michael Clayton is one. Cadillac Williams is nearing bust status, and can't stay healthy.
What about the young fellas? Phillip Buchanon has had 2 full seasons over a 7-year career. Earnest Graham? He was good, but 4.0 ypc? Tampa will need more especially considering how worn down the passing attack will be.
Of the 10 teams Tampa will have to play outside their division, 4 of them were division winners last year (Cowboys, Chargers, Packers, Seahawks).
Out of room, more to come.

I will say the Green Bay Packers:
They are going to fall apart without Farve. Adrian Peterson and the Vikings are going to do a lot better this year.
Well, with the Bucs, the division they are in is horrible, they have no competetion when they play their division.
While, with my pick, the Packers will have a bad passing game this year becuase I don't think Rodgers will do that good and they will have to depend on their runniung game.
The Vikings are a good team and will win a lot more game this year and win the NFC North.

The Green Bay Packers, huh? Sorry, I briefly considered them, but I'm not going to take a team that finished 5 games above the next closest team. The Packers had the youngest team in the NFL last year, and with the departure of Favre it is even younger now.
You say Aaron Rodgers will do bad? Care to back it up? He's been on the bench a few years behind arguably the best QB of our generation, and the one game he played the majority of this year was a high pressure game against the Dallas Cowboys, cold off the bench...and he did great (18-26, 201 yds, 1 TD, 0 INT). And the Pack even have Brian Brohm.
The Bucs division is horrible, you say? I'll give you the Falcons, but all the Saints needed last year was a healthier run game and a better start and they probably would have won the NFC South. The Panthers were missing their QB for 13 games last year, and split time between a 42-year old, an undrafted rookie, and DAVID CARR!
Packers will have a bad passing game? Tell that to Donald Driver, Greg Jennings, James Jones, Donald Lee, Jordy Nelson and Jermichael Finley. I can wait.
Now, want to talk about the Vikes' passing game? I don't either. THEY will have to depend on the run game..

Yes, they are a young team and that is why they will do bad this year, without the veteran presence of Farve the passing game is going to be hurt even with the good WR. Now, we don't know how Rodgers is going to do as a starter and under the pressure as a starter instead of a backup watching Farve. Yes, the Vikings will have to depend on their running game, just as the Packers will.
Lifer: Metallica Sucks! said 07/06, 07:45 PM
Who's the veteran presence for the Vikings in their passing game? Don't say Bernard Berrian, or else I'll just pull out Donald Driver. Aaron Rodgers remains a (promising) mystery. Tarvaris Jackson has already proven himself to be, well, BAD. Peterson relied last year a lot on Chester Taylor, and yet he still managed to get injured. How will he do this year, when he has to shoulder even more of the load?
And AP lost his Pro Bowl FB, Tony Richardson. Somehow I get the feeling that AP will have to rely a lot more on himself and less on his Pro Bowl counterparts to get the job done this year.
But we're not arguing about WHO will win their division, are we? We are arguing about which team is going to do worse next year, the Packers or the Bucs.
The Bucs have no good QBs, except for a guy old enough to be a grandfather. Their WRs are old and worn down. Their run game is weak and unproven. Their playmakers on D are old. The Packers may be young, but Tampa is downright elderly. Their best players that aren't "old" are probably Cato June and Earnest Graham..Barrett Ruud...and, uh, BJ Askew? No, wait, I said good...

Well, yes the Bucs have bad players, but without Farve the Packers are going to do horrible and the Bucs will do just a little better. If Cadilac Williams can stay healthy they have a chance and with Joey Galloway are their only good offensive players.
I think the Packers won;t do good and the Bucs will do just better.

IND ? What did they do this off-season, every year they keep decreasing, I think Jags divsion champs this year, so Colts might not have a good season.

Better arguements and the fact that I don't fully believe in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers results in a vote to LIFER.
