1. Ohio State Buckeyes
2. Wisconson Badgers
3. Penn State Nittany Lions

I was debating on Illinois or Penn State but the Illini are a scary team to play no matter what team you field against them. With the loss of Mendenhall to the NFL teams might be able to put a little more focus on QB Juice Williams, but if someone can step up then this could wind up being another big season for Zook and company. They have a great defense this year with a ton of speed which will help a lot.

Penn State's defense is weak this year they don't have that top linebacker in the nation becuase Sean Lee suffered a season ending ACL tear in spring workouts. The secondary must improve as it got burnt way too much at the end of last year.

Penn State's offense returns 7 starters but are going to have to rely on Daryll Clark who will take over from departed senior Anthony Morelli.

Let's be honest. Juice isn't as good as he looked last year. He looked much better than he was because the defenses only had to focus on Mendenhall, and he may be the biggest loss for a single team in the country. The only real threat that Arrelious Benn is the only real threat that they have. And when he isn't returning it, he will have to trust in Williams to get him the ball. Which you can't do.

Penn State will have a better defense than Illinois. In fact, it should be second best behind Ohio State. Sure, they lost Lee, which is huge, but they still have a ton of talent. They are loaded at the linebacker spot, and people always seem to step up. The defensive backfield wasn't that bad last year, it just didn't look as good as it was because Justin King had such a disappointing year. And the defensive line will be amazing.

The offense could be scary. Clark is a huge improvement over Morelli, and he should have started last year. Even if he doesn't do well(which he looks damn good), Pat Devlin has a ton of talent to step in. The o-line is loaded, and they have a talented corp of senior receivers. And the duo of Evan Royster and Stephfon Green could be simply amazing.

No Juice is a good QB he is an all purpose QB. If he can't do it McGee will which is a better passer but not a better runner. Every year Juice improves I was at his first ever game and since then he has improved dramatically. He has a great WR core this year with Benn and a guy that has stepped up in Cumberland. Someone who is not talked about is Fayson the NO. 3 receiver in the country in 2005.

No way is Penn States defense better than Illinois. Illinois has much experience on the D-line and the linebackers are very fast this year and the DB's will be good. Last year they couldn't win the big games how are they going to this year?

The best their record will be 5-3 more likely going to be 4-4.
Illinois has a good chance of being 6-2 maybe 5-3.

Let's just say both teams win every game other than Wisconson and Ohio State. The head to head game is in Happy Valley. Who do you think will win that? Penn State is one of the toughest places to play in the country, currently the biggest with Michigan Stadium under construction.

Again, both defenses will be good. But how is Illinois' defense more talented than Penn State's? They have a top five defensive linemen in football with Josh Gaines, and the rest of that line is loaded with talent. Anthony Scirotto could be the best safety in the conference, and AJ Wallace and Lydell Sargeant will be a pretty good duo. And the linebackers are ALWAYS loaded with talent.

Penn State's offense is more talented. Clark doesn't have the starting experience, but he showed just how good he will be by torching A&M in his very limited playing time in the Alamo Bowl. Derrick Williams and Deion Bulter are a great one-two at WR, but they have a lot beyond those two, even at TE. Royster may be the third best starter this year in conference, behind Beanie and Hill. And Green showed in the spring game that he has the talent to become the most electric back in the game RIGHT NOW.

vote for PSU

I hate to vote in favor of Penn State, but I must. Lee's loss hurts them, but if there's one spot where they have the depth to overcome such an injury, it's LB.

The real question mark is their offensive backfield...but given the schedules and the lack of a proven ground game in Champaign, I have to give PSU a very slight edge...
