Best Baseball Catcher of all Time

My pick for best baseball catcher of all time is Ivan Rodriguez.

He won the MVP award in 1999 won 13 Gold Gloves 7 Silver Slugger and is a 14 All Star.

Of course there are many choices of the best catcher ever however I do believe he is the best catcher to ever play the game.

Pudge is a great player. And I won't pick on him for failing to earn an original nickname. But he's not the best.

My choice is Johnny Bench.

Rookie of the Year
Two-time MVP
14-time all star
10 consecutive Gold Gloves

Considered the best offensive catcher in history, Bench displayed tremendous defense as well. He's my pick for best all-around catcher.

Forfeited Turn

Maybe you were reviewing film on Pudge.

Anyhoo, Bench is a top-3 catcher all-time by most folks' standards.

I'll wait for round 3 to argue.

I actually had a feeling i was gonna get u out of this but I actually wanted to TD u cause u have great baseball information and smarts. Honor to TD against u fine sir

I like Fisk... would be hard to argue he was the best but dammit he was cool

Why dont these things fall in my lap. Honestly. Pudge vs. Bench. Well, hopefully the arguments are fulfilling.

Report Offensive Comment

Josh Gibson. In my opinion, but it's really hard to argue.

Report Offensive Comment

I think we all know Fasano is the coolest.

Report Offensive Comment

Josh Gibson. In my opinion, but it's really hard to argue.

The Negro Leagues are just so hard to quanitfy. I have no doubt he'd be in the discussion, but...

Yogi.

Yeah, yeah. I grew up on Bench, though.

Report Offensive Comment

Yeah, I know what you mean.

Report Offensive Comment

Yogi, then Bench, then either Fisk, Campy or Pudge.

This is ignoring Josh Gibson, that is. Too hard to argue for.

Report Offensive Comment

Bench - Yogi - 1a 1b

Pudge

Munson

Fisk
Dickey

Gibson - but hard stats are hard to find

Report Offensive Comment

Campy as well.

Report Offensive Comment

No Cochrane?

Report Offensive Comment

Too hard to judge players in the deadball/early era. He was a great hitter, though.

Report Offensive Comment

Cochrane had a relatively low range factor compared to the other guys in this discussion.

sorry Mr Porkins I have to put in the next argument a little bit later sorry again

Report Offensive Comment

Lol Moondizzle. I'm sure if Gibson was white it'd be a whole different story.

Report Offensive Comment

And what I mean by that is that then Gibson would have played his whole career in the MLB and would be much easier to argue for.

By the time he retires, Bengie Molina will be in discussion.
