i think he would go to the nets, because his good friend Jay-Z owns the nets.

I think he's going to go to the Knicks, because I like tacos.

Anyway, in all seriousness, let's clarify a few things. Jay-Z doesn't own the Nets. He is a minority - let me emphasize - minority shareholder with the team.

Second - they still play in New Jersey. The project underway in Brooklyn is in complete chaos, and while reports indicate the Nets will be in Brooklyn, its not a done deal. The proposed plans could be dropped at any time due to community & funding issues.

Third - Despite recent struggles and embarrassing situations, the Knicks are also in the process of getting down under the cap to accomodate Lebron. They still play in that place we call the Garden. And despite the views of haters from the outside, its safe to say that the Garden still has an allure to it for basketball and hockey figures alike.

Fourth - in the title - were you going to specify a year? If his contract were up now, his options would be quite limited. Maybe a few teams would be able to handle his contract amount. But its a moot point you didn't explain, and he will be a free agent in 2010 if my memory serves correct.

Anyway, RUBBER BAND, HOT DOG, TACO, LOUD NOISES!

yeh but what if you were lebron? and you had to decide on which team to go to Knicks or Nets? if you were smart and had any common sense you would pick the nets, because the last time the knicks were any good was when patrick ewing was playing for them, and they still didnt get a ring!

He can't go anywhere until 2010. You have no idea which team will be where in the standings. That said, historically, the Knicks have alot more going for them. Playing in the Garden is no small deal. I don't see the last time the Nets got a ring. And the last time they came close, they had a completely different roster. So what does that mean?

I am smart, with common sense. The move to Brooklyn is no sure deal, and Jay-Z is a non-factor. Both teams will likely be bad for awhile. The Knicks have Manhattan, the Garden, and history on their side.

Let me tell you a bedtime story. A leper, we will call him Roy, was tied to a dead elephant in Botswana. He was tied to the elephant by a mystical creature who called himself Manning. Manning liked hot dogs, a peculiar taste for such a magnificent being. After years of losing teeth and accumulating points of prowess, Roy broke free of his chains and swam across the Atlantic. It is there where he met the descendants of Manning, who won back to back Super Bowl MVP's. In repayment of the debt of their ancestor, they invigorated the leper with magical powers. He went on to become a billionaire. He will buy the Knicks, and sign Lebron.

zzzzzzzzZZZZzzzzzzzzzzz............................................

Thats fantastic. I love the 26th letter in the alphabet. Thats why I listen to ZZ Top.

Lebron goes to the Knicks.

The Nets are the Nets.

The world is a happy place.

Yawn...thanks for watching. I'm here on Tuesdays. Try the veal.

Very persuasive final sentance in that first argument, Moon. That's going to be very tough to beat.

tacos... you are going to have to come up with a much stronger arguement then say Jay-Z.... he's a Fookin musician, He is not going to get Lebron a ring... the nets are making sure they have the room to persue james but i assure you james will take which ever team that has the combination of potential and money... Jay-Z may be his friend but i find it hard to believe he is going to play in NJ just because Jay-Z says please.

July 8, 2008  12:45 PM ET

Ha

If Nets == Jay-Z
Then LeBron == Nets
Endif

Nope, never mind, that logic doesn't stick!

July 8, 2008  12:50 PM ET

No, Moon, no!!! Dont crush all my hopes and dreams by refuting the statement of LBJ going to the Nets! That is the only thing I have left in life, since I'm losing everything

July 8, 2008  12:53 PM ET

The Nets will certainly be in the running with all of the cap space they have cleared to make a run at him (or another big free agent). But if they get him, it won't be because of Jay-Z.

July 8, 2008  12:56 PM ET

Tacos are better than hot dogs, and Moon failed to include elephants.

Prowess dictates I must go left.

Hmm... IHOP is too fancy for me... even dennys hides me and my friends in that BACK CORNER booth no one can see

Monn is exactly right. Right now there are not a lot of teams that could offer him the max deal. Maybe the Nets and Knicks pull the trigger and go over the cap but it is hard to say since he could just as likely go to the Warriors who have a lot more cap space now that Davis is gone.

I'd prefer Waffle House but IHOP's does make a mean southwestern omelet.

July 8, 2008  01:28 PM ET

Moondizzle, you are the so accurate with your info. A minority shareholder doesn't hold much weight when it comes to roster decisions...lol....I believe he owns like 2% or something in that area. To answer the question, LeBron will stay in Cleveland.

July 8, 2008  01:29 PM ET

ignore "the"* in my first sentence, my bad.
