NCAA Football

Pick first, Argue 2nd and 3rd (hahahah Ram)

I will take the Highest Level Truly Crowned NCAA Football Defending National Champion Appy State, on the road, knocking off defending BCS Champion LSU

I pick Utah over Michigan.

Athletic Parody being the theme of NCAA football in recent years, we have witnessed the gap in Talent between the haves and have not???s severely decline. We know that on any given Saturday anyone can beat anyone. It is a game of game plan and execution.

So we look at execution:

LSU has given up both playing QBs from last yr with Perriloux and Flynn. They don???t really even have anyone to list as the potential starter at this point. They lost their best back (Hester) and their best WR (Doucet). They will replace 2 offensive lineman and 7 defensive starters. Execution???

Appy State returns the top ???college QB (not QB all around but top college QB)??? in the nation with Edwards along with essentially the entire squad that put together their 2nd Title in a row last Winter. This is a veteran team who knows how to win in big game situations (3 time defending Natl Champs in an actual playoff format, won in the Big House).

I like Appy to flat out perform a very inexperienced LSU squad.

For the record, I dont think anyone beating Michigan is an upset, I dont think there is a player in the Big10 with the speed to play QB in his offense (joke).

There is no way Les Miles will let LSU lose that game. Everyone saw what happened last year and LSU will not overlook Appalachian State. Appalachian State also lost the guy that caught 2 TD passes to the NFL.

Also Appalachian State wasn't that great last year. They went 5-2 in their conference, losing to Wofford and Georgia Southern. If you knew those colleges existed, give yourself a pat on the back.

Appalachian State is losing their starting running back and their top 2 WRs. LSU lost guys, but they have a lot more talent to replace them with than App St. does. I expect a breakout year form Keiland Williams.

Regarding Utah vs. Michigan, you may not think of it as an upset, but I assure you the general consensus will regard this as an upset. I don't think the people of Ann Arbor expect to lose this one. Especially when it's at home.

Michigan doesn't have the personnel to run Rodriguez's system. They will struggle this season, especially early on. I'm taking the Utes

Actually Appy lost their top WR to the Draft and that is basically it. He is replaced by a 6???3??? Freshmen who is highly touted as the ???future??? next D2 star to make it. They did lose their top tailback in Richardson but he was no stud. Just a solid back in a solid system. He will be replaced by another talented athlete.

Now if it was whether the coaches allowed it to happen or not then we would have 119 12-0 D1 teams, that dosent seem logical at all does it? Logic? Logic is declaring that a 3 time defending D2 national champion who returns the best ???college QB??? in the nation defeats a team that has to replace virtually all of its starting offensive skill players along with 7 defensive starters. That to me is Logic.

Will or wont Michigan beat Utah? I assume they will though I wont predict either way. Can Rich find a QB? If not Can Rich adjust to the QB???s he has such as Meyer did with leak who ran like a 5???2??? 342lb diabetic woman? Who knows.

However I think it is more likely that D2 Appy state beats LSU (returning BCS champ) thanit is that Utah (D1 and coming off 9-4 season) beats Michigan (D1 and coming of a 9-4 season).

My point is that both of these are upsets. LSU will win so it won't be an upset. I think Utah will win which would be an upset. So that upset, though not as big, will actually happen making it a bigger upset.

You're not giving Kevin Richardson, the running back App State lost, enough credit. Over his last 3 seasons at App State, he had 5,639 yards from scrimmage and 73 touchdowns. I'd call him a little more than a solid back.

You're overrating Armanti Edwards a little. I agree he's a great college QB, but I'd rather have Matthew Stafford or Curtis Painter.

Neither going to happen, that is like saying Villanova over West Virginia. One with a chance UCLA over Tenn

July 9, 2008  01:44 PM ET

how is UCLA over TN in California really an upset????? And as a Vol fan I can tell you, TN is a real title contender b/c weve got arguable the best linebacking core and secondary I have ever seen for this upcoming season, we wont give much up this year and thats what makes the SEC heads and shoulders above the rest
