You have the same picks as me.. The Honorable Mentions were just for kicks but I guess I didnt specify that? Whatever though its cool.

Kinsler vs Quentin
AVG- .335 vs .274
H- 127 vs 87
R- 81 vs 59
SB- 23 vs 5
OBP- .392 vs .376
SLG- .549 vs .522
OPS- .941 vs .898
2B- 80 vs 43
3B- 4 vs 1
BB- 136 vs 76
Y! Rank- 2 vs 19
This one is clearly one-sided; advantage- me

Sizemore vs Morneau
HR- 22 vs 13
R- 56 vs 51
SB- 21 vs 0
BB- 51 vs 35
SLG- .538 vs .494
OPS- .911 vs .872
Y! Rank- 9 vs 33
Fairly even I suppose. I would take Grady but..; advantage- no one

Halladay vs Rivera
This one is almost impossible to argue. Here's a few points though. There has only been NINE closers to ever win the Cy Young Award in its 51 year history. There has not been a closer to win the Award in 16 years win Dennis Eckersley won it. I, personally, (unless un-human season) do not think that the Award should go to someone who only pitches a max of 50 innings.

Oh, my bad. I would have changed more if I had known.

First off, Kinsler doesn't have 80 2B's, he has 22.

Quentin- 21 HR's, 65 RBI's
Kinsler- 14 HR's, 53 RBI's

Then, consider that Kinsler has made 16 errors; Quentin has 5. But there is more to it than stats. Quentin is leading a team in first place, one of the biggest surprises in the AL. Kinsler's team is in third. Quentin has been much more valuable.

You didn't mention A LOT of stats.

Morneau- .322 BA, 67 RBI, .384 OBP
Sizemore- .272 BA, 52 RBI, .375 OBP

Sizemore's team is 37-53 and in LAST PLACE. Morneau's team is 50-41 and is in the playoff race. Cleveland was in the World Series last year, and is in LAST. Minnesota was supposed to be awful, and Morneau is leading them to a great start. An MVP shouldn't be on a last place team.

Rivera has been DOMINANT this year. He is 23/23 in saves with 50 K's in just 42 IP. He has a WHIP of just .64 and a 1.06 ERA, Halladay has a WHIP of 1.04 and an ERA of 2.88.

Jones- .375 BA, 50 RBI, .472 OBP, .618 SLG
Ramirez- .303 BA, 44 RBI, .383 OBP, .554 SLG

Jones is hitting an amazing .375. He has 75 LESS AB'S, and is still close in every category! Jones also has struck out 41 LESS TIMES!

Forfeited Turn

Forfeited Turn

July 10, 2008  02:29 PM ET

Sorry it took a little bit; some stuff came up.

July 10, 2008  03:13 PM ET

Carlos Zambrano??

July 10, 2008  03:18 PM ET

That's a good pick, too. But I think Lincecum has been better:

Lincecum- 10-2, 2.66 ERA, 126 K
Zambrano- 10-3, 2.84 ERA, 78 K

Plus he plays for the Giants.

July 10, 2008  03:34 PM ET

Sizemore>Justin Morneaou but Justin beats Kinsler and Quentin beats both Kinsler and Sisemore

Rivera>Halladay

Hanley>Chipper

Tim> Hamels

Haren>Webb

right has a slight edge but I willwait for argumnents

July 10, 2008  03:41 PM ET

Once again, everyone is out voting against me with no reasons. I could care less whether you vote for or against me, but PLEASE PEOPLE, SAY WHY YOU VOTE!!!

Secondly, this is about more than stats; so keep that in mind.

July 10, 2008  03:48 PM ET

I am leaning right... but I'm gonna wait for arguments

July 10, 2008  03:58 PM ET

********************** CONTINUED ***********************

Ramirez vs Jones
HR- 22 vs 18
R- 77 vs 54
H- 112 vs 106
SB- 22 vs 2
2B- 19 vs 14
3B- 4 vs 1
Y! Rank- 3 vs 8
This is very similar to the Grady and Morneau thing.. it's close. Hanley is MUCH better all around and, other than Chipper's average, Jones' stats are not impressive at all. advantage- me

Haren vs Lincecum
You win this one. Period.

Hamels vs Webb
ERA- 3.15 vs 3.29
WHIP- 0.99 vs 1.20
K- 118 vs 104
IP- 135 vs 124
Y! Rank- 16 vs 43
Webb has struggled lately, giving up 14 ER in his past 5 games and Hamels is just heating up. Other than Webb's rediculous win total from April and May, Hamels really has pitched better. advantage- me

July 10, 2008  04:28 PM ET

Save it for the TD StLDieHard...

July 10, 2008  04:28 PM ET

That needs to be one of your arguments not in the comments

July 10, 2008  04:29 PM ET

No love for David Murphy as rookie of the year... he has some pretty good stats.

July 10, 2008  04:35 PM ET

I looked at him, but I wasn't sure if he was a rookie or not. Plus, you know how everyone loves the Red Sox...

July 11, 2008  05:35 PM ET

philly, i ran out of room

July 11, 2008  05:54 PM ET

Sorry for the forfeited arguement.. I was busy.

*************************************

My bad about the 80 2Bs.. I accidently looked at career doubles lol. He actually has 31. He is part of why his team is still in contention, he is more all around than Carlos (who only hits HRs). Kinsler is one of the, or is the, most all-around player in the MLB! Quentin is batting .274 compared to Ian Kinsler's .335 that just might win him the batting championship. You bring up errors.. Kinsler plays 2B, the postion that actually gets the most balls hit to.

"Cleveland was in the World Series last year, and is in LAST."
Woah.. Boston won the WS last year so how could Cleveland possibly have played in it? Confused on that one. Cleveland has been so screwed on injuries this year, Superman is one of the only ones that has hung in there. He, not only, is second in HRs and is complete on the offensive end, he is GREAT on defense and has made some amazing plays out there.

Please do not compare the ERAs and WHIPs between a closer and a starter. Did you realize that Halladay has pitched in 100 more innings than Rivera. You are 110% right, Rivera has had a mind boggling year but I dont see the reason that a guy that pitches in 1 inning per appearence and only when the team is winning by no more than 3 runs deserves the award. What would his stats be if he pitched 250 innings per year??

Jones' average has really dipped here lately and Hanley has really heated up. I think he would , by far, have the advantage over Chipper in an MVP race. Hanley is keeping his team afloat (1.5 games out of first) while Chipper is watching his team's pervious division dominance DIMINISH.

July 11, 2008  06:03 PM ET

Come on, guys. A closer cannot win the Cy Young Award. That really makes no sense to me.

Kinsler over Quentin
Sizemore over Morneau
Halladay over Rivera
Han-man over Chipper
Lincecum over Haren
Hamels over Webb (this one is CLOSE)

July 11, 2008  06:07 PM ET

I have a serious man-crush with Kinsler.. vote to diehard

July 12, 2008  07:14 PM ET

Well, too bad when having a life comes in the way :)

July 12, 2008  07:14 PM ET

Secondly, great to know that people are voting on arguments.

July 12, 2008  07:35 PM ET

STL Die Hard...They have the forfeited turn and the 1200 character limit for reasons...So you DON'T get an advantage...

Judging by the arguments IN the argument area, vote------->

July 12, 2008  09:45 PM ET

philly, i ran out of room

StLDieHard

I don't care if you run out of room... there is a limit for a reason. Anything arguments that you put in the comments should NOT count, it is not fair. And then you did it again...

July 12, 2008  09:46 PM ET

I have a serious man-crush with Kinsler.. vote to diehard

hello fannation

I too have a serious man-crush on Ian, I just watched him extend his hit streak to 24 on his 32nd double this year. But I am voting on arguments, vote right
