Yeah, I think they should. I know they rushed Milledge and gomez, but the way the outfield is, with Church on the DL b/c of migraines and concussions, and Alou getting hurt every time he plays, they should bring him up. He would do no worse then Trot Nixon, and Nick Evans. I know he's only hitting .270 in Binghamton, but it would not be the worse move the front office ever made.

Let me just say that I'm a Met fan, and I've been keeping my eye on Martinez for a long time now. I've even advocated a call-up, but here is why now is not the time:
1. As you said, he's not exactly tearing it up in the minor leagues. 4 HR and 21 RBI is something he needs to work on. He's a solid runner, and has only tallied 3 stolen bases. He is still only 19 years old. He needs to put in more work on reading pitchers, hitting to all fields, and most importantly: Staying healthy. He's had a couple of injuries that held him back.
2. The Mets are in the thick of a division race, even though it's only July. We can only expect that this will get more intense. Calling up a rookie who is still honing his skills (again, he's 19) would be a detriment to him and the club.
3. The Mets need to obtain a corner outfielder. They can live with a Tatis-Chavez platoon in right or left field because there is offense elsewhere.
4. They need a veteran outfielder. The reason the Church move was so solid, despite giving up Milledge, is because he is an established hitter and above-average fielder. Calling up a kid is not a smooth move.
September call-up maybe. But why fix it now?

I do agree, but, I mean Chavez doesn't hit that well, and if we can't get Nady or someone else, do you want to play Anderson and bad defence, or F- Mart.

You agree? But?
Chavez, obviously, is not the every-day answer in the corners. Mark Nady off your list. He will cost us F-Mart if you have heard the rhetoric out of Pitt these days.
I never said Anderson should be out there. But despite what I said above, Chavez has improved leaps and bounds offensively.
A corner outfielder from a team looking for a strict salary dump is the best answer. If F-Mart is not performing that well in the minors as we said, how is he an upgrade over what we have now?
Dont fix what isnt broke. I'm not fooled by the 9 game streak. I'm aware improvement is needed in numerous spots on this team. But right now, bringing up Martinez is the wrong idea. He isnt tearing it up down there and Mets officials know he isn't prepared to be thrown to the wolves.
Chavez will serve as a part time starter and defensive replacement. Picking up an adequate bat off the market is the better move here.

That is not only 100% true, it is also a fighteningly huge understatement. The Mets front office has made some baseball's biggest blunders over the years.

Haha, compared to a few other moves they have made, he's entirely accurate. Putting a sniper on the roof of Shea would probably be a better move in the end.

I'm throwing this out there now. I'm traveling where internet access is extremely limited. This guy took too long. We'll see.

Vote to moondizzle. Fernando has been injury prone the last two seasons and he's still developing in the outfield. He's only 19. Lets give him some more time in the minors before calling him up. Maybe the Mets move him to Triple A New Orleans and see how he does.
