Missouri 11-1 (7-1)

Nebraska 8-4 (5-3)
Kansas State 7-5 (4-4)
Kansas 5-7 (4-4)

Big 12 Championship: Oklahoma beats Missouri

Here we go again where my collage football smarts get put to the test

South

1. Oklahoma
2. Texas
3. Texas Tech
4. Texas A&M
5. Oklahoma State
6. Baylor

North

1. Missouri
2. Kansas
3. Colorado
4. Nebraska
5. Kansas State
6. Iowa State

Big 12 Championship: Agree

Ok I'm going to argue the differences here: I have Oklahoma State 4t, you have Texas A&M 4th. Mike Sherman is taking over the Aggies football team, so they will be in a rebuilding process, while Oklahoma State has 34 lettermen returning including QB Zac Robinson. You Have Kansas 2nd, I have Kansas 5th. Kansas had a dream season last year, finishing 12-1, but they snuck by a couple of games, barely holding on to win (ex: kansas state game). I think Kansas's luck will hurt them this year, and I have them ending up with a losing record. I have Colorado second because Dan Hawkins is in his third year here now, so I think the program will get on a streak and impress some people. I think that Cody Hawkins (Dan's son) will be a surprise player this year. So really the only major difference in our picks is Kansas because if you move Kansas down to 5th on your picks then they are the exact same on the North.

Dont all good teams win close games. Look at LSU last year, they beat Auburn by 6, Florida by 4, and Tennessee by a fourth quarter touchdown, so all good teams win close games and Kansas will continue to because there best qb, rb, and wr are all back and ready to make a run at the Big 12 championship.

Even though Talib has left Justin Thorton had five picks last year and is still going to be the playmaking safety he was last year alongside Harper who will take Talibs place and make a name for himself in the secondary. The final factor is Jon Mortensen who is one of the best linebackers in all of collage football. All this and more will make Kansas finish second in the big 12 with the potential to be there playing for the conference championship

Colorado will have a good season but no way way are they better then Kansas. The Buffalos starting offensive line has two sophomores and one freshman with almost no experience which doesnt help Hawkins find the open man or Sumler find the hole because there will be less time for them to make decisions

The Aggies have 45 letterman returning compared to Oklahoma States 34, plus Mike Sherman whos a great coach its a win win

Good Luck

Sherman was a great NFL coach, but so far we don't know how he will do as a college football head coach. When I made the comment about Kansas I meant that they did not dominate games and that luck was a part of their success, just like luck is for all football teams that win. I just think that this year luck will not be on the Jayhawks side. Looking at Kansas's schedule, I say that they win the first two games, lose to USF, beat Sam Houston St and Iowa St, Lose the next three games(Colorado, at Oklahoma, Texas Tech), beat Kansas State and then lose their last three games (at Nebraska, Texas, Missouri), leaving them with a 5-7 record. I just have a feeling that Colorado will surprise everyone and finish second in the north. Just like there are upsets in games, there are always surprise teams that upset the big schools and squeak into a big bowl game off the radar. Colorado will be one of those teams this year.

Why wouldnt luck be on the Jayhawks side, they have all there main players back on offense and on defense they have just as many quality starters as last so why wouldnt luck be on there side, the USF game should be a highly contested battle going down to the last few minutes so its not an automatic lose. Plus theres little chance Colorado will beat them because unlike Kansas they have a bunch of unproven sophomores starting at qb, rb, tackle, guard, wr, dt,de, and safety. The odds are stacked against Colorado and theres little chance thill beat Kansas. Just like last, people dont belive in Kansas and just like last they will be fighting for the title

Mike Sherman was a great NFL coach and theres no reason why he wont find the same success in collage. Sherman takes over an Aggie team that went 7-6 last year and 4-4 n conference play. Plus they also have a solid qb in McGee who had a qb rating of 117, threw for 12 tds and ran for another 899 yards for 5 tds. McGee is a great player and the difference between beating Oklahoma state and finishing ahead of them which he will do and show that the Aggies are an up and coming top 25 team

You don't have to put the records of each team, but i already had it written down so I did

What one loss will it be to?

July 11, 2008  11:31 AM ET

Oklahoma

July 11, 2008  12:13 PM ET

Keep on dreaming Husker Pride. This is Pelini's first year, and most of the time coaches in their first year struggle. But in this case, 8-4 is not struggling

July 11, 2008  12:16 PM ET

Dam I ran out of room, guess the Aggies will just have to wait

"I think Kansas's luck will hurt them this year"

What's that supposed to mean?

July 11, 2008  12:23 PM ET

Pelini is in his first year yes as head coach, but the guy is in my opp. the best def. coach in ncaa football, look at what he did in his first year at NU 5 years ago if you can remember that far back. Plus what he did at LSU. Plus we are returning almost the whole off. which was very good last year.

The Pitt Panther Strikes Again

I meant that they will have bad luck. I guess I should have said Kansas will have bad luck this year

Okaaay... where do I start.

One: were going to establish you are on shrooms correct?
Two: your offense was good against BAD teams last year. Heres a run down of that "vaunted" NU offense last year.
Missouri: 6 points
Ok ST: 14 points
Tx A&M: 14 points

^ Not too good....

Third: Granted, Bo Pelini is a very good defenisve coordinator but umm theirs not that much a defensive coordinator can do when no one on the team can tackle, get off a block, cover receivers... etc. In a few years... maybe but lets just take a look at the highlights of last season for your defense:
Given up 17 to Wake Forest: not bad
Texas: 28 points, once again not bad
Nevada: 10 points; im not sure how this happened because the wolf pack have a good offense?
Iowa St: 17 points
.....
looking
....
no cant find anything.... OH! here we go....

every other game was above thirty and only two of those were in the thirties, yeah your D gave up 40 points or more in 6 games last year to teams like Colorado and Ball State. Not very impressive. Plus, the 76 to Kansas and the 65 to CU. Come on, you really think a first year head coach and "the best defensive coordinator in the country" is gonna be able to fix THAT?!

Even if he curbs it how are they gonna fair against Missouri, Ok St, TT, OU, some of the top Offenses in the country are in the Big 12 and one of em is in North... and i forgot K St if Josh Freeman shows up to the game.

July 11, 2008  12:50 PM ET

By the way, who do you have Missouri's one loss being?

July 11, 2008  12:57 PM ET

Texas Tech very well could take the South this year. Their defense has improved and there is no doubt the offense will rack up points. Other than Oklahoma which Tech will play there, I might put my bets on Tech in most of the games they play this year.
