Pete Maravich -- He was the wilt of college when it came to scoring he set scoring record after record and just destroyed teams with his scoring. Highest ppg in college basketball history by far
Bill Walton -- He won national player of the year all 3 years he played. enough said
Lew Alcindor -- He won final four MVP all 3 years ??? averaged 27 and 15 while shooting over 60% from the field.
Bill Russell -- He led little known university of San Francisco to consecutive titles, winning 55 games in a row.
Oscar Robinson ??? 33 ppg, 15 rebounds and 7.5 assists. Those numbers are hard to top.

So, ESPN does a show called the "Greatest 25 Basketball Players of All Time".

Their top 5 (in no particular order):

Pete Maravich
Bill Walton
Lew Alcindor
Bill Russell
Oscar Robertson

Put a lot of research into this one?

Or does changing the word "Greatest" to "Top" make it original enough for you?

You could have at least changed one to make it your own.

I honestly did not even look at that. I actually did this same TD about a year ago (long before ESPN came up with their list) but i decided to redo it because not many people voted and hell, i was bored. You can take a look at the TD. It was very close, but since only 4 people commented i thought i would give it a try again. Here it is if you dont believe me. Call me unorginal when it comes to coming up with TD but i am not a cheater.

I'm not accusing you of cheating, but, as you said, it's purely unoriginal thought. Especially since it was a widely promoted show. It would kind of be like watching the "America's Game" series on the Super Bowls, then writing down their top five selections, then using that exact list to do a TD.

Except I did not watch the show or even think about it when making this TD. I came up with this list on my own. The fact that it is the same as ESPNs is no fault of mine.. I just proved to you that i came up with the players over a year ago. Its not unorginal at all because i came up with the idea and the list on my own.

And as the comments are showing it is a very debatable idea. So why dont you either chose a different player and argue him or forfeit. You ruined a perfectly good throwdown that could and would have been picked up by any number of people.

OK, if your list is so "unique", I Googled "Best College Basketball Players All Time 2007" (since you came up with this idea last year) and got this site as the 2nd choice:

http://americasbestonline.net/Cbasketball.htm

Here's their top five:

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar(Lew Alcindor)
Bill Walton
Bill Russell
Oscar Robertson
Pete Maravich

Again, I'm not saying you are cheating...it just seems pretty much a forgone conclusion doesn't it? Two sources, same results. What exactly is there to argue? What's next? "Michael Jordan is the Best NBA player ever"?

July 12, 2008  11:18 PM ET

maybe Michael Jordan??? i don't know.

July 12, 2008  11:27 PM ET

Christian Lanteer

July 12, 2008  11:43 PM ET

Maravich might have had flashy numbers but his teams never made it into the NCAA tournament. Patrick Ewing, David Thompson and Christian Laettner all had better careers in college.

July 12, 2008  11:47 PM ET

Angelos since this TD is most likely done, you wannd throwdown about that. Ill take Maravich against anyone of those players.

July 12, 2008  11:51 PM ET

Not really. I've just read a lot of stories about Maravich that don't paint him in a favorable light.

July 12, 2008  11:53 PM ET

ok thats cool i understand. Its tough as hell to argue against Maraivich on this site.

July 13, 2008  04:04 PM ET

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar???????????????????????????????????????????????????? ?????????

July 13, 2008  04:31 PM ET

Kareem is Lew Alcindor. He changed his name to Kareem after he became a Muslim.

July 13, 2008  09:58 PM ET

Pistol Pete was a scorer who could not be stopped he is a top 5

July 13, 2008  10:27 PM ET

This is retarded. I argued this before and won by one vote. Its definltey arguable. If you dont think so than dont take it. I stay by the fact that i came up with this list. But whether or not you believe mr shouldnt matter.I made a throwdown that is arguable. So argue and stop whining about where you think i got my list.

I **** hate when people accept TDs just to whine about something being unorginal. Just about all of the stuff we talk about is unorginal. ESPN SI fox sports all write articles and have tv shows arguing the exact stuff we do.

July 13, 2008  10:32 PM ET

It's not retarded, it's a no-brainer list. Why bother to duplicate a list that's already been done (at least twice)?

July 13, 2008  10:41 PM ET

how is a no brainer list, when 3 of the 6 people who commented listed other people and, when i did this before i only won by one. I am positive if someone accpted this and actually tried to argue it would be a great TD. You are simply assuming i found this list on the internet. Why dont you argue instead of whine about me possibly copying this list?
