49ers- 98 Playoff Game vs. Falcons
Rams- Super Bowl

Ok see there are a number of ones I can change but with limited space to argue them I will only change a couple. Here are the ones I will go ahead and change

Jets- Curtis Martin retiring
Dolphins- 99 division game playoff loss
Redskins- death of Sean Taylor
Falcons- 98 super bowl loss to the broncos
Cadinals- 98 division playoff game loss
49ers- death of Bill Walsh

I will wait for my 2nd and 3rd argument to argue why I made those changes

Ok, I guess this was my mistake for not techincally saying it, but I still cannot believe you didn't catch on to the theme that I was talking about just games, not anything that happened outside of the playing field. I mean 32/32 games is just a little more than coincindence.

But whatever, I can't really argue losing a game to somebody dying, and since I wanted this to be about games, I'll argue the games you picked

Dolphins: This was quite an odd choice for you to pick. The Dolphins went to 14-2 Jacksonville and got trounced 62-7. NO typo, 62-7. In 02 the Dolphins started 5-1, and after a slide were 9-5 entering the last 2 weeks. After dropping a close one to the Vikings the Fins headed to Foxboro for a win or go home game. Miami was up 24-13 with under 5 minutes to go, but they blew it, and the Pats won in O.T. 27-24

Cardinals: Yes I know there is a big difference between a regular season game and a playoff game, but on MNF two years ago the Cardinals suffered a loss nobody will ever forget. In the 98 playoff game the Cardinals were beat 41-20 against the 15-1 Vikings. On MNF the Cards were up 23-3 against the undefeated Bears, allowed 3 non offensive TDs and lost 24-23

You never said it had to be a game afterall you can lose a game, a player, a coach, and an owner. What picks you made is your choice you never narrowed it down to just games so that is your fault not mine.

Dolphins- why did I pick that game well for one any time you watch your team lose 62 to 7 it an excruciating game to watch. Add in the fact that it was a playoff game and then on top of that add in the fact that it was the last game ever for the most loved Dolphin of all time Dan Marino. I dont know about you but the Dolphins are my favorite AFC team and that was the hardest Dolphins game for me to watch.

Cardinals- It was a junk game that had no meaning heck most Cardinals fans probably didnt even watch it. The game I picked was a playoff game and on top of that it was the first season since 1982 that the Cardinals had made it to the playoffs heck it was the first year since 1984 they even had a winning record and is still the only one since. So I dont know the only playoff year since 82 so thats what 1 year in 26 years now? So honestly it hurts worse to see your team lose in the playoffs

We seem to have a difference of opinion on this. Yes that Dolphins game was hard to watch, for a Dolphin fan at least, but I was talking about losses that were absolute stomach punch game. Games in which you think your about to win, then suddenly, you lose in the most heartbreaking of fashion. I doubt any Dolphin fan lost much sleep over a 55 point loss

The Cardinals game, I know that it was a playoff game, but they were up against an incredible 15-1 Vikings squad in Minnesota, and they got their **** handed to them. The MNF game was huge, it was the first time the Cardinals were on national television in their brand spanking new stadium with their new QB, and to be up 20 points against an undefeated team and to lose they way they did, giving up three (THREE) non offensive touchdowns, and then to miss a field goal at the end is just brutal

For the Falcons, I considered the Super Bowl, but the reason I didn't pick it was because the Falcons were huge underdogs (by Vegas), and the game was a blow out. The Championship Game loss I thought hurt more because it was in the Michael Vick era, they were much less of an underdog, and they were in the game until the 4th quarter.

Lets start with Atlanta sure they may have been underdogs in Vegas but they were the 14 and 2 dirty birds to them they were not the dogs. Look at the playoff teams they had already beat going in to the Super bowl
Miami 10 and 6
Patriots 9 and 7
San Fran 12 and 4 (beat them in the regular season and playoffs)
Vikings 15 and 1
So why wouldnt they feel that they could beat a 14 and 2 Denver when Atlanta was 14 and 2 as well and already had 5 wins against playoff teams?

As for the Cardinals game the difference is a loss hurts more when more are on the line. In 06 the Cardinals were 5 and 11 they were 1 and 4 going in to that game. Really they knew they had no business even being in that game. The game I picked had meaning it was a playoff game and a number of guys had waited through many years of losing seasons to get to that point so to see it finally come crashing to an end hurts worse in the long run than 1 loss in a season of 11 of them.

Miami like I said it was Marino's last game he was the Dolphins and he went out on the bench. On top of that they were a playoff team that got beat by 55 points that ride their is a punch in the guy because of a thing called pride

I'll even it up Chosen1. I like your thinking here.

Concur with the Kansas City Chiefs one.

July 13, 2008  08:09 PM ET

Death of Bill Walsh. He had been retired. Sure its sad but no one lives for ever. His contributions were over by that point.

July 13, 2008  08:12 PM ET

Bucky I respect your opinion but I still would not change my pick. I think certain figures mean so much to certain franchises that the loss of them no matter how long after they may have retired it is still considered a tragic loss to that teams fans.

I mean take the Celtics for example I am sure that a large portion nof their fans took the death of Red as being a tragic loss for the Celtics

July 13, 2008  08:16 PM ET

no way for the Cardinals its def the MNF game. The div game was unexpected to begin with and we were just happy to get that far at that point

July 13, 2008  08:30 PM ET

I think the Super 41 loss to the Colts for the Bears was just the only thing you could have chosen. Yet they expected to be underdogs.

July 13, 2008  08:32 PM ET

honestly I know some cardinals fans and that game seemed to be just another game to them. I mean come on the Cardinals were what 1 and 4 going in to the game? They were expected to lose so nobody really had their hopes up it was just a meaningless game in one of many in Cardinals history. The one I picked though well I will explain in my coming arguments

July 13, 2008  08:32 PM ET

yes chosen1 i like your thinking by using the word "loss" in a different meaning. But Sean Taylor was a loss but it drove them to the playoffs. Will come back for arguemtns.

Reyes4MVP *Free brooms* | 07/13/08, 08:32 PM - I am from the Md and DC area and know first hand how bad the area took the death of Taylor it was taken worse than any loss that has happened in the entire time I have been living. Plus from a play standpoint it has a much longer reach impact than just one game

July 13, 2008  08:39 PM ET

Barry Sanders retirement was, and is, the biggest loss of the last 30+ years for Detroit football. The lions had, scince i became a fan, always had a team of respect, a team that played hard, regardless of their record or standing. Barry realized were the franchise was headed, and after he retired, the team has the worst record in pro football, and are trying to re-define their football heritage. Unfortunatley, most fans agree that as long as the team is owned by the Ford family, and Matt Millen is in charge, hope is very low.

Any superbowl loss should be up there

Do you know how pumped Baltimore was for that Colts game? We still have left over T-Shirts EVERYWHERE

July 13, 2008  09:45 PM ET

The Vikings 1998 game was just a nother choke

July 13, 2008  11:07 PM ET

Bengals should be 2005 season, the wild card loss to the Steelers at home over the regular season loss to the Broncos.

July 13, 2008  11:09 PM ET

Bucs should be the NFC chapionship that they lost to the Rams who went on to win the Super Bowl. That loss by I think 5 points hurts. 5 points from the Super Bowl.

July 13, 2008  11:11 PM ET

Chosen1 - you are exactly right about that Dolphins loss. The blowout was bad but the fact that it was Marino's final game makes it far worse.

July 13, 2008  11:23 PM ET

Death of Bill Walsh. He had been retired. Sure its sad but no one lives for ever. His contributions were over by that point.

buckybadger | 07/13/08, 08:09 PM

Sadly too many people think like you do in this area. If you are a fan of the game then the loss of Walsh resounds from any franchise. He is one of the greatest coaches ever. If he stayed there who knows what else the 49ers would have done. His one regret is that he left the game in his opinion too soon.

c note | 07/13/08, 11:11 PM - yea the Dolphins one to me one of my picks that I liked the most. He was the face of the Dolphins franchise and one of if not the greatest qb of all time so to watch him go out the way he did was terrible. I mean he went out on the bench and was pulled in his last game and they put Damon Huard in
