The Prodigy is Hawaiian for #1 said 07/15, 10:22 PM
You all saw what happened with Jessie Taylor on TUF. Dana says he doesn't want fighters to ruin the rep of his company. Well Dana her's the quandry , one of your biggest draws/stars just evaded police in a pursuit. Rampage can't be that smart the truck had a huge picture of himself on the side. So will Dana boot Rampage?
I say Rampage will get suspended and after some sort of "anger management" he is allowed to return, Dana doesn't mind giving second chances but he needs to show that they are doing something to punish athletes that act like this. Think I am wrong, then well throwdown!!!!!

I usually avoid these MMA TD's but have to chime in here.
This idiot will likely be charged and convicted with several serious charges - based on the links you provided, and any basic knowledge of the law he will likely be up on felony charges.
This isn't "Rush Hour 7", it is the real deal.
"Anger Management"? "Suspended"? How about this jackass is going to do some time?
If Dana wants to protect the rep of his company, this asscracker needs to be shown the door.
The U.S. penal system will take care of punishing this idiot. Whatever the UFC decides to do is the least of his worries right now.
The Prodigy is Hawaiian for #1 said 07/16, 10:12 AM
Obviously you avoid these TD's for a reason, check this out Dana White and the UFC upheld a suspension of Sean Sherk even though the Commission that suspended him originally let him come back.
Fact: Rampage is a HUGE draw for the UFC
Fact: Dana is trying to show the world he doesn't want his athletes acting like idiots
Fact: Something similar has happened before and Dana asked the fighter to sit.
Will he do jail time? Honestly I doubt it, at least not long jail time.
Will he get suspended? Almost certainly
Will he return? You can bet your arse on it

There have been comparisons made below to the OJ/White Bronco chase years ago. Keep one thing in mind. The OJ chase was done at about 30 miles an hour. People were standing on the sidewalks waving and taking pictures.
Here's what Mr. Rampage has ALREADY been charged with:
Hit and Run Driving (at least two counts)
Reckless Driving
FELONY evading
That last one is the biggie. Felonies do not get you community service in the soup kitchen.
Then there are the facts that are still being put together. It has already come out that he was driving the wrong way and on the SIDEWALK near pedestrians. That could open up another whole can of felony charges including Reckless endangerment and attempted manslaughter.
You state that Dana "is trying to show the world he doesn't want his athletes acting like idiots". Point noted. Rampage is an idiot. This is only the latest incident of his out of control behavior. His next fight will be inthe prison yard...he'll have a lot more at stake in that one.
If Dana is truly concerned with image, I doubt he would promote a soon to be convicted FELON.
The Prodigy is Hawaiian for #1 said 07/16, 11:04 AM
So what side are you on. Cause there was only two sides in this debate, either he stays (which I said he will after his suspension) or he goes. I am assuming your saying Dana will never take him back, and that he will never fight in the Octagon again. If that's the case then I am sorry your wrong.
Sherk got booted for ROIDS. FOR CHEATING , that's a major deal, is it as bad as driving on sidewalks, to some maybe. However Dana took him back.
Also I will point out that the NFL has been bringing convicted felons back for a while now, some work out and have no further problems, some do not. American's love to give people second chances, and since this is the first major incident Rampage has been invloved in, I see no reason that Dana won't bring him back after his punishment is done. After all people paid mad loot to see Tyson fight after he got out of jail, and heck Kimbo was a street fighter, which is ileagal. Yet he still sells tickets.
Dana will protect his brand by showing he is doing "something" by suspending Rampage but he will fight in the UFC again.
T-fo is Medium Pimpin' said 07/16, 11:30 AM
I'm not the one who hasn't come down on a side, you are.
You keep stating that Dana White wants to upgrade the image, but then you contend he will let a felon off with a short suspension. Which is it?
MMA has finally, and only just now, crossed over to major network television. That means a much stricter image control. Why do you think Goodell cracks dowln on NFL players? The big bucks are from the TV contracts.
If Dana is trying to upgrade the image, I realize MMA purists would like the streetfighting underground roots to remain. If the sport were out of the mainstream, that would be fine. The "criminal element" could even be used to an advantage.
You talk about Tyson getting paid, but at what cost to boxing as a sport? Boxing has been sent to the back of the pack of professional sports - largely because of the promotion of guys like Tyson and other shams.
With MMA at a crossroads of popularity, where it is poised to make the big leap to main stream America, the last thing it needs to hurt its rep is to champion an idiot like "Rampage".
By the time he gets out, the sport will have advanced to the point that they won't want him hurting their image.

There's no way Dana going to let him go, he's to much of a money maker. But what was Rampage thinking? I wonder if he was drunk but I did not see a DUI charge

He isn't going to jail. If California didn't put OJ in jail for his million mile pursuit back in 94 neither is Rampage. He will get community service, pay a huge fine, and a couple years probation. That being said even with the TUF incident envolving Jessie Taylor. He is fighting on an upcoming UFC card so Dana really didn't do to much to punish the guy. Just set him back a couple of months, and he hasn't made any real money for the company. Rampage may have to pay a fine to UFC, but that is about it.

Suspended? Not a chance. It's not like UFC is a real sport with governing bodies who actually care about anything other than profit. It's today WWF or, at least, todays kickboxing. While I doubt T-FO's assertion that he does any real time simply because of where it happened, this isn't going to result in any sort of "suspension", either. Still I gotta vote right, no way they turn their back on a "star" no matter what.

Huh? Since OJ wasn't DRIVING the Bronco that night, he would go to jail for that, now would he?

I read the topic for this TD before reading the news itself, so I was like "uh, what?"
He has to be suspended, at least for some months. But he'll eventually come back to the UFC; too much star power.

What exactly did I say to provoke a "wow"?
You seriously think he won't do time?

i agree with prod, he will have a short suspension and be back in a few months. he is still considered a top fighter in the world.. and the one thing everyone keeps missing is that he is still under contract to fight in the ufc. he has not been in trouble before, therefore probably wont end up serving any time. probation, hefty fines, and some community service.

because a. tito is a moron and b. Chuck lost his belt, he got beat and it wasn't scripted like the outcome of WWE..and Chuck is still a top ten 205 pounder if you want to TD on that then lets roll

its not scripted but the fighter selection is done as a business, opponents were specifically selected for marketing and beatability purposes
besides that, Rampage is done, hell never fight UFC again, hell be in his 40's before he even fights in those crap leages like kimbo again

dude, he led police on a high speed chase, crossing the medians, running signs/lights on a rim, people were running for their lives, he is going to the state pin, and ive watched a few episodes of lock up and ill guarantee san quentin will make a wimp out of him pretty quickly, he is done, career over, when hes out of prison he can fight kimbo but thats going to be the extent of it
