Direct From News and Rumors

The NBA has blown up the contracts of ALL NBA players and landed ALL players in a HUGE draft.

Who is the First Pick (keep in mind Age DOES play a factor here)

My First OVERALL PICK?

Da King

James.

Prince James? You want Prince James?

Let me introduce you to the big man of the future AKA Superman AKA Dwight Howard.

What has this beast done in his first four years in the NBA?

PPG: 16.5
RPG: 12.2
BPG: 1.8
FG%: 56.7

Last year he posted career numbers:

PPG: 20.7
RPG: 14.2
BPG: 2.2

He gives you EVERYTHING you want in a big man. Rebounding, shot blocking and scoring.

Why would I choose Dwight Howard over a bigtime scorer like Prince James, though?

Because RIGHT NOW Dwight Howard is the MOST complete big man in the NBA, and big men are essential to winning teams. If I was an NBA franchise and I wanted to win, I wouldn't hesistate in choosing Howard.

The fact of the matter is, Howard is only 22, but he still provides a beast in the post for any team who wishes to get him.

Look at the last couple Championship winners, and their big men:

2008: KG
2007: Duncan
2006: Shaq
2005: Duncan
2004: Big Ben
2003: Duncan
2002: Shaq
2001: Shaq
2000: Shaq
1999: David Robinson/Duncan

Must I go on? Each championship team since 2000 has had great big men who had great years that year.

Big men WIN, and that's what every franchise wants to do.

"Because RIGHT NOW Dwight Howard is the MOST complete big man in the NBA, and big men are essential to winning teams."

And how far did Dwight go THIS year?
lost round 2 to Detroit in 5- and it wasn;t THAT close?

and how far did Lebron go?
Lost round 2 in a GAME SEVEN to the CHAMPIONS?

-- and uh who has the better surrounding cast?
-- Who has been to the FINALS with the Pu-pu platter of a backup band?

H. Turkoglu and Lewis vs Ben Wallace and Big Z?

BIG shift to Orlando.

True - you always look at PG/C when you want to build a team- only certain players (MJ,Kobe,Duncan) are difference makers at the other 3 positions-

and LeBron James is a difference maker.

one thing you also fail to mention in your stat line.

Early Shaq & Duncan NEVER seemed to disappear in games- Howard does ( Detroit series exhibit A)

**speaking of Detroit if you think Big Ben was the reason for that title- I'm going to be sending you another TD VERY soon- if Dennis and/or Goat 2.0 don;t beat me too it.**

Dwight Howard is a MONSTER - but not a 100 game MONSTER

James IS right NOW the first pick in this Draft.

"Who has been to the FINALS with the Pu-pu platter of a backup band?"

I know LeBron did manage to get to the Finals with hardly a decent supporting cast, and besides the fact that his team didn't do **** against the Spurs, who did they face going into the Finals? A Washington team that was .500, a Nets team that was .500 and a Detroit team that got EXTREMELY cocky with a 2-0 lead? Not much competition.

About Big Ben...look at my response in the comments.

LeBron is NOT MJ, NOT Kobe and definitely NOT Duncan. Don't EVER put LeBron in MJ's category at THIS stage in his career. I'll TD you on that before Denis an/or GOAT jump on it.

Dwight Howard will easily be a 25 PPG/15 RPG player for the next 6 years+, and a big man that dominating almost ALWAYS wins...

Dwight is one year younger than LeBron, yet he is going to be the next best big man in the NBA.

Like I said before, big men are usually essential to winning team, and each winner in the past 9 YEARS has had a big man who's been huge to their success, I don't understand what the difference will be with Dwight Howard.

LeBron is a great player, but Dwight can take your team to the next level with his PRESENCE.

Lebron 21, 27, 31, 27, 30

Pretty Good scoring right?

But Lebron is not simply JUST a scorer

Rebounds- 7 per game last year
Assists -7 per game last year (EIGHTH in the NBA)

Several people complain that Lebron is not a defensive presence-

Yet he was SIXTH in the NBA in steals per game last year. True he will NEVER be MJ on Defense-
heck he may never be Pippen on D- but SIXTH in the NBA from the Small Forward?

True the Cavs got Blown away by the Spurs in the Finals

But Howard was watching from home

At least King James WAS THERE

As for your MJ vs KJ comment

32.5 PPG 8.0 RPG 8.0 APG 2.9 SPG 0.8BPG
30.0 PPG 6.9 RPG 7.2 APG 1.8 SPG 1.1BPG

No he is not Jordan, But he is CLOSE stat-wise.

and he has PROVEN he is a game Changer ALREADY

End of Year 4 of the King James Era was a FINALS tip
End of Year 4 of the Howard run goes home round 2 to an Also ran.

Screw all the stats, comparisons, etc. and let's take a look at what a team actually WANTS:

To win.

How have the past 9 CHAMPIONSHIP teams done that? With big men in the middle, who are post presences and crash boards.

Now, if what you want is a scorer who'll bring in fans, than choose LeBron James. BUT, if you want to WIN, choose Dwight Howard.

He is the big man of the future, and although he may have been doubted last offseason he destroyed ALL doubts with his absolutely DOMINATING performance all last season.

He also is very durable for a big man. In his 4 seasons he's played 82 games every season, and averages 36 MPG for his career. Now you have a post presence that shows up EVERY NIGHT.

Give Howard time, he will definitely be a winner in this league, the same can hardly be said for LeBron if he chooses the big contract over a winning team in 2010 (and I think he will because he's said that he wants to be the first athlete billionare).

Also, I would never hire someone who tell his MOMMA to sit her a/ss down. That's low LeBron, very LOW.

Dwight Howard should be the #1 pick in a draft with all active NBA players in the pool of players to choose from.

No it was not all about Ben Wallace, but he DID win DPOY, and he the next year they struggled when they had no one to guard Duncan.

July 16, 2008  07:55 PM ET

How can you say LeBron gives 110% when he plays so lackadaisically on defense?

Who DON:T struggle with Duncan??

(every other year)

LeBron has the ability to carry a team on his back like Iverson did in 2001 and like Kobe post-Shaq pre-Pau. Howard doesn't.

I have one question, you take the Lakers role players against the Cavs role players (so subtract Bron and Kobe). Is it even a close game? Hell NO, the Lakers crush them. BUT LeBron took the Celtics to 7 and carried them in that game to at least make it interesting. Kobe got straight bltch slapped by the Celtics, they went 6 and went home with their tail between their legs. Bron is the better PLAYER and for the record I like neither of them.
