Direct From News and Rumors

The NBA has blown up the contracts of ALL NBA players and landed ALL players in a HUGE draft.

Who is the First Pick (keep in mind Age DOES play a factor here)

My First OVERALL PICK?
LeBron James

as the SECOND Pick

My Team would select. . . . .

Chris Paul.

Trot picks Chris Paul first so you can't....No trot wouldn't do that he is a fun loving community guy

First Pick
Kobe

Second
Garnett

This Round

Kobe vs LeBron James

I am not about to claim that Lebron is the equal of Kobe right now

But lets look at the stat lines

Year 5.

32.5 PPG 8.0 RPG 8.0 APG 2.9 SPG 0.8BPG
30.0 PPG 6.9 RPG 7.2 APG 1.8 SPG 1.1BPG

Pretty close? I mean Lebron is not that far away in development so far is he- well withing striking range across the board.

Oh that is not Lebron vs Kobe there-

That is LEBRON VS JORDAN

Kobe line at year 5 is

25.8PPG 5.9RPG 5.0APG 0.6BPG 1.7SPG
vs
30.0 PPG 6.9 RPG 7.2 APG 1.8 SPG 1.1BPG

At this stage of his career LEBRON IS AHEAD OF KOBE.

but we are talking about the now.

Kobe has logged over 37K minutes on his frame- and has played over 1000 games already!

He may only be 30 coming up this year- but I wand you to find me another 30 year old that has taken the pounding he has the past 12 years -other than Iverson- I can;t think of anyone

and yes Kobe had a ring by year 5- he also had SHAQ as well,

Kobe Supporting Cast is WAY better than anyone Lebron has seen in TOTAL beside him

Z, Boozer,James, Hughes,Davis vs those '03 Lakers -even the 00 Lakers

STILL Kobe kills him

Look at the Big 3 Pierce(30) KG(32) Allen(32) all had phenomenal seasons and won a Title...Pierce and Kg have been taken HUGE beatings since they entered the league

Kobe(29) started all 82 games this year logging in 38.9 minutes having a FG% of .459 and a 3P% .361 hit .840% of FT avg 1.8 steals 6.3 baords and 5.4 assists and averaged 29 points

LBJ(23) started 74 games playing 40.4 minutes with a FG% of .484 a 3P% of .315 hit .712% of FT avg 1.8 steals 7.9 boards and 7.2 assists and averaged 30 pts

before Pau Gasoft came in Kobe had to be the only person on the team who could play thefore making him have less assists he made more 3 pointers and and got to the line more LBJ stopped going to line becuase he didn't like getting the contact down low so he would kick it out hence the more assists and as far as steals and rebounds go or lack there of (see 2008 NBA playoffs) no defense and Kobe won the MVP this season

LBJ is a little bit better defensively and more of a team guy but Kobe's way of being a team guy is taking control to all of his abilities a making the plays and is going to take more of a beating than LBJ will ever because LeBron doesn't like the contact

Your Words

Pierce and Kg have been taken HUGE beatings since they entered the league

My point

If you start a draft- as stated-

KG might not even be considered a first round PICK! True he is the champion- but he is an OLDER champion

I love KG - but he will be 33 this year- that is the same age as Duncan.

Duncan has 4 rings- KG has 1 how is KG your pick over Duncan?

Chris Paul is well on his way- if not already - the best PG in the NBA- and true some players can superseed the need to a great PG- but by and large the successful teams are lead by great PG

Look at David West pre-CP3 and post
Look at Tyson Chandler Pre-Cp3 and Post

Chris Paul drives that team- and he keeps getting better- KG has a TON of miles on him and may not last 3 more years in the NBA

in 3 years CP3 might be picking up yet another MVP trophy

tough to compare 2 completely different positions....so a little defense

your words

Kobe Supporting Cast is WAY better than anyone Lebron has seen in TOTAL beside him

As you stated about supporting cast....where was KGs in Minnesota...he had none zerbs? cassell? nothing worth writing home about...look at Duncan's Robinson, Parker, Ginobs, Barry...he even beat Kobe and Shaq

CP3 is great but he needs another good season or two to prove his worth as best PG over Nash,Baron, or A.I.

I wouldn't call Rondo a great or even a good point guard yet...he's decent not quite good though and he led the Celtics to a title this year

The only way KG doesn't last 3 more seasons is if he wins 2 more titles, his body is not showing any signs of aging this guys still comes out with the same intensity and level of play as he did in high school

July 17, 2008  09:14 AM ET

Not so sure about Trot's picks. Those two have a lot of mileage.

July 17, 2008  09:17 AM ET

Mileage yes.... Greatness... yes.... they're still great players no where close to over the hill yet....mileage can also be a great thing with the whole experience thing

July 17, 2008  09:18 AM ET

Garnett? You're building a franchise for now and the future, he's getting pretty old.

July 17, 2008  09:18 AM ET

The mileage isn't too bad.....they were driven by a little old lady that took care really good care of them and only drove them on Sundays to church.

July 17, 2008  09:21 AM ET

if i'm not mistaken Nixon is nothing without the sox has the league MVP and a close second to MVP those 2 have easily another 5-8 years in them

July 17, 2008  09:29 AM ET

so pdino, are you going to come back and change your vote once the arguments are made, if NC does a better job?

July 17, 2008  09:34 AM ET

or do you always vote on non-arguments (basically just choosing names) never to return?

July 17, 2008  09:35 AM ET

after they pick a starting 5 that says they won't beat NC i will change but kobe and kg just played in the finals LBJ and CP3 were eliminated by them

July 17, 2008  09:36 AM ET

just checking....

July 17, 2008  09:50 AM ET

Age DOES play a factor! With that in mind, David probably get my vote...........later on.

July 17, 2008  10:59 AM ET

Nice TD.... Good Luck

July 17, 2008  11:00 AM ET

And too you

July 17, 2008  11:04 AM ET

As far as building a franchise, I'd have to go with the younger guys. I vote <-------------

July 17, 2008  11:05 AM ET

Yeah, I love the Jordan shot in the 1st arguement Dave. And how can you pick KG over Duncan if you are gonna pick that old in the first place, Trot?

July 17, 2008  11:25 AM ET

Even if they are old they're still leaders who can STILL play they only category in career totals that Duncan leads KG in is FG% and blocks everything else KG owns in and while KG is up there Kobe isn't that old and they teach younger players like a Beasley or Alexander how to develop into the players they are today

July 17, 2008  11:34 AM ET

i would also take Chris Paul and Lebron James with the top 2 picks.

July 17, 2008  11:47 AM ET

You should have taken an offensive lineman. It all starts with line play. Vote right.
