My choice ......

Dwayne "The Rock: Johnson. His movie roles have included:

Get Smart
The Game Plan
Reno 911!: Miami
Gridiron Gang (
Spy Hunter: Nowhere to Run
Southland Tales
Be Cool
The Rundown
Walking Tall
The Scorpion King
The Mummy Returns

His movies have grossed over 400 million in sales. He is the most success pro football player who became and actor.

I'm pretty sure the Rock got to where he is today because of his previous job as an actor in the WWF, not quite in football. Hell I'm not even sure if he ever played pro ball.

There are so many other NFL players I could argue with you that have been in a dozen movies like the Rock, like Dan Marino, Michael Irvin, and Emmitt Smith in their grand total of one movie each, but I'm gonna choose......

Brett Favre. He's already off to a good start. He's not really coming back to play football for the Packers this fall, he's just saying he wants to come back to hype up his new career as an actor.

He was in those Wrangler Jean commercials recently, and I'd gladly take his unforgettable Oscar-snub of a performance he had in "There's Something About Mary" as opposed to all the horrific movies the Rock has been in.

The Rock actually did play pro ball. He played for the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League. The debate isn't over wheter or not it was football that helped him become an actor, but which person who played went on to become the most successful at acting.

SOmething about Mary? He didn't star in that he had a CAMEO. Dude the Rock's movies have made well over 400 mill, when Brett tops that come get back to me.

Something about Mary made $850 million at the box office alone, so in just one scene Favre has more than doubled the Rock.

And I'm quite certain the people that paid those 400 million dollars to see ANY of the Rock's movies either wanted an immediate refund, gouged their eyes out, or killed themselves within the first 20 minutes of the movie. Is it really acting if no one believes it?

Dude you have got to be joking, Dwayne has STARRRRED in movies, soley selling tickets off his name alone. Brett Farve made a single cameo, in which he played HIMSELF. You cannot be successful if your playing yourself, that's not even acting, that's showing up and well playing yourself.

Your Brett Farve pick is the weakest pick I may have ever seen run on a topic. Brett Farve ???????

Look, bottom line is you were obviously going for an extremely easy win. The Rock is clearly the most succesful pro football player turned actor. The sad thing is you think
A) I was being serious
B) That the Rock had actual competition for being the most "successful" actor

And onto your comment about Favre playing himself, the Rock plays the same exact role over and over, some macho guy who can kick some ****

The Rock played in the NFL?

July 20, 2008  09:07 PM ET

No, College Miami

July 20, 2008  09:08 PM ET

Uh, the Rock was never a professional football player. I think you have him confused with one of his movies where he PLAYED a profession football player. ;-)

July 20, 2008  09:09 PM ET

I take that back, he did play in the Canadian football league from 2 months before being cut. That's stretching it, though.

July 20, 2008  09:12 PM ET

Even though it is stretching it, the CFL is still a proffessional league, though I thought the Prodigy meant the NFL.

July 20, 2008  09:12 PM ET

The Rock is a pro football player turned actor like Billy Crystal is an actor turned professional baseball player.

July 20, 2008  09:13 PM ET

Yeah wow two months.. If you were talking about College Athlete you might have a way better chance...

Brett Favre? Greatest success as an actor?

How about OJ? Howie Long? Dick Butkus? Jim Brown? There are TONS of 'em who enjoyed far more success acting than Favre has to date.

July 20, 2008  09:16 PM ET

In Get Smart, the Rock was AWFUL. Entertaining, but not good acting at all.

July 20, 2008  09:18 PM ET

"Even though it is stretching it, the CFL is still a proffessional league, though I thought the Prodigy meant the NFL."

I'm not sure which is more of a stretch, calling two months in the CFL a professional football career or calling Brett Favre an actor...

"In Get Smart, the Rock was AWFUL."

Well, he's an AWFUL actor. Can't deny his success, though.

So what are you saying, that saying 4 lines in a movie isn't a successful acting career?

July 20, 2008  09:29 PM ET

he played in the CFL and he drew a paycheck from the Stampedes. So that makes him a pro player. I myself might have argued for Frank Dryer, or Alex Karraris

July 20, 2008  09:37 PM ET

Oh, you are correct. I thought it was best actor, not most successful. Stupid me...

July 20, 2008  09:38 PM ET

Ed O'Neill better known as Al Bundy. Play for the Steelers about as long as The Rock played in the Canadian league and is a better actor.

July 20, 2008  09:41 PM ET

Jim Brown.

July 20, 2008  09:46 PM ET

Favre did such an awful job in There's Something About Mary, I don't know if I can vote for him.

July 20, 2008  09:48 PM ET

"he played in the CFL and he drew a paycheck from the Stampedes. So that makes him a pro player."

Technically true, but WAY too much of a stretch for me to vote on.

Shaquille O'Neal

NYGiantsSBXLIICHAMPS personally as for the comment about seeing The Rocks movies and wanting the money back well I can say I am not one of those people. Movies of his I actually liked

The Game Plan
Gridiron Gang
Get Smart
The Rundown
Be Cool
and somewhat Walking Tall
