I'm going to say Tennessee. I know Georgia will most likely ranked #1, but Tennessee has had UGA's number lately, winning three of the last four games in this series. Usually Georgia is ranked higher than Tennessee when they get beat by the Vols(examples: last year UGA ranked 12, Tenn not ranked, 2006 UGA ranked 10, Tenn ranked 13, 2004 UGA ranked 3, Tenn ranked 17)

Many people think Tennessee will struggle this year with the loss of Erik Ainge, but I (and my grandfather) disagree. Tennessee will easily slide by Georgia and will only lose two games all year(Florida and Auburn).

What has happened in 3 of the last 4 games has little or no bearing on what will happen this season.

You freely admit you are losing your starting QB. By comparison, Georgia is losing very little from a team that was playing arguabley the best football in the country aby last years seasons end.

They are returning their QB Matthew Stafford and their RB, Knowshon Moreno, who rushed for 1,334 yards and is considered a Heisman candidate.

Georgia will most likely open the season at number one and maybe most important of all....

This team feels as if it was robbed of a chance to play for a National Championship last year. By the way they treated Hawaii, I don't think these kids are likely to forget the slight!

Lastly, this game is scheduled to be played in Georgia!

Ok, first off, Erik Ainge was WAY OVERRATED and I think Jonathan Crompton will be a lot better than him. Tennessee has a great list of RB's, including Arian Foster and Montario Hardesty, WR's, and perhaps the best SS in football, Eric Berry. They have depth at every position, which will help them throughout the year.

Tennessee HAS BEATEN GEORGIA IN ATHENS THE LAST TWO YEARS, and like most SEC games, home field advantage is not a big factor.

Georgia may be a great team and could contend for an National Title, but IT IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO GO UNDEFEATED IN THE SEC. Florida and LSU didn't the last two years, and neither will Georgia. I think this game will be one of Georgia's two losses this year.

"Ok, first off, Erik Ainge was WAY"
This has NOTHING to do with the up-coming season. Quarterback is the single most important position on the field. Georgia has an experienced QB to rely on and Tennessee does not.
I am not sure that I would put huge amounts of my own money at risk because "YOU" think Crompton will be better than Ainge. Even if he is, he will likely take a season to come into his own. It isn't a coach's dream to face the No.# 1 ranked team in the country with an inexperienced QB on the road!

Not only do you have a new QB but also a brand new Offensive Coordinator. Not an enviable combinantion.

Your arguments are full of what has occured in the past and "your" assessment of Tennessee talent which doesn't quite jive with the experts. I am neither a Dawgs or Vols fan and from from the outside, your opinions appear to be those of an excited fan. A fan can't be relied upon for an accurate assessment by definition!

The facts:
- Georgia is on everyone's list as #1 or #2.
- Georgia lost few of last years 11-2 team and return experience in all the skill positions.
- They smoked undefeated Hawaii in the Sugar Bowl!
- UGA is motivated by their BCS snub.

First off, I'm a UGA and Tennessee fan, so either way I'll be happy with the outcome. It is often said that history repeats itself, which I think in this case deals with Tennessee beating Georgia on the road. Crompton is a Jr this year, so its not like he doesn't know the offense or anything like that. He just lacks playing time, but I think he will be ready for this game seeing that it is the 6th game of the year. By this point in time Crompton should be used to everything and will be able to surprise a lot of people.

I would now like to make known two problems with your "facts.
#1: Hawaii was WAY OVERRATED. They played crappy teams all year, still almost got beat by a couple, but still made it to the Sugar Bowl. Everyone I knew that didn't like UGA thought Hawaii would kill the Dawgs, but Georgia beat the Warriors like they weren't even trying.

#2: Motivation doesn't mean a W in the win column. The Washington Redskins were motivated and determined to win after the death of Sean Taylor, but did they win the Super Bowl? Nope. Motivation is important, but it does not always result in a win.

"It is often said that history repeats itself"
This term refers to society's inability to learn from it's own mistakes and therefore doom itself to perpetual war, poverty and human suffering. In the context of sports, it is merely a cliche, incorrectly applied. By your reasoning, The Red Sox would still be without a Championship.

"Crompton is a Jr this year, so its not like he doesn't know the offense"
There is a new OC! It doesn't matter if he is a junior when the man calling the shots is new! Even were the offense exactly the same, knowing the offense and running it are entirely different.

Hawaii was over-rated and UGA did all it could given the circumstances. They proved it!

Motivation can not on it's own secure success, however combined with talent and hard-work it can help a team reach it's potential and maintain it's focus.

The issue with your arguments is that they are subjective. You may have an opinion but debate requires that you back those opinions with fact. Simply relying on short term trends doesn't hold water when college teams have constantly changing rosters. There is an ebb and flo as one team's stars graduate and another's mature.

Good Luck!

as a Vol, and SEC Fan I can tell you:

Fat Phil and March Sicht are the same coach, this year TN is losing players and they will overachieve, GA is starting the top team in the land and they will underachieve, As a Vol I hate the underachieving years as much as anyone but it is a fact, thats why the stats tend to show the lower/higher win/loss being backwards

JDAWG, what kind of answer is that from a Georgia fan, you brought shame to the true Dawgs fans like myself.

Vote goes to the Coach - Tennessee will be 8-4; not sure how the only two losses are going to come down to Auburn and Florida...you seem to forget how Georgia ended last season(agree-ing w/Coach)...you also seem to forget, or maybe never saw how 'Bama was putting things together.

ONCE AGAIN - the SEC will tear themselves apart - just as they did a year ago....that's what happens when you are in the toughest conference in the NCAA -

The BIGGEST rarity in sports history - "First off, I'm a UGA and Tennessee fan, "

July 21, 2008  12:42 PM ET

Tennessee is the biggest home game UGA has all season besides GT at the end of November. UGA has an off game before UT this year too, and we saw how well UGA performed last year against Florida with two weeks to prepare. Don't think for a second that the dawgs will forget losing at home the last two years and getting blown out the last two seasons by UT. This game'll be closer than most expect, but UGa will control the game.

July 21, 2008  12:43 PM ET

You're fighting an uphill battle JDawg just b/c UGA is ranked as high as #1. It's tough to pick any game against the dawgs besides the cocktail party.

I'm the type of fan who knows when his team may be in trouble. Besides, if Georgia wins, I can look at it and say "at least they won, and if they lose, i can say "at least I was right on that TD"

Well I've been raised that way because my grandparents are from Tennessee but I've lived in Georgia my whole life

July 21, 2008  12:54 PM ET

lol Good luck with your Dawgs! I'll be watching this game purely as a college football fan. My Tarheels haven't been very good on the gridiron in quite some time!!

July 21, 2008  02:55 PM ET

coach why do you keep telling dawg that what happened last year doesn't matter, and then turn around and list UGA's beating of hawaii as a reason they will beat UT, i thought history doesn't matter. UT returns most of their sec east winning squad, and since ainge is overrated he won't be that much of a loss. plus crompton was a highsvchool all amreica and looked good last year in the games he started in ainge's absence...oh wait history doesn't matter.

July 21, 2008  08:02 PM ET

The only reason that UGAs destruction of hawaii is pertinent is because virtually the same UGA squad is returning. However, trends that are longer are meaningless as those student athletes are gone.

July 21, 2008  08:48 PM ET

Georgia's overrated. They'll lose at least 3 games. LSU, Florida and one more...might as well be Tenn.

July 21, 2008  09:00 PM ET

ok so history only is revelant when it works out in your favor. the UGA squad that lost to UT is the same team that beat UH.

July 21, 2008  10:57 PM ET

----better argumets, better pick, what else sould you want?---------->
