1. No stealing my idea
2. No Pushing- pick a side and argue
3. If you don't LIKE the TD concept- then go start your own TDs and get the SMURF offa mine.

Will the W/L of the BROWNS improve or Decline

My Pick DECLINE

Actually, I love the idea. Not sure why we don't do all 32 teams. But OK.

as for the Browns, I don't see how they've done anything in the offseason to do anything but IMPROVE. I'll give you three reasons for that improvement in my three arguments.

Lets start with their biggest offensive pickup, Dante Stallworth. He's a sure bet in this offense to be a big target of Anderson. He was about a 1000 yarder in his last year in New Orleans, and well on his way to 1000 yards before an injury with Philly. And NOBODY was going to outshine Randy Moss in New England. Stallworth signed with a rising team this year, and will certainly shine big himself.

Donte is the reason they are going to improve on 10-6?

Really?

at the age of 27 he is on his FOURTH team!

The Saints found him expendable because of the rise of a ROUND SEVEN PICK who OUTWORKED HIM IN PRACTICE

the Eagles dumped him beacuse he might be going to Rehab (and they said no,no,no) and for nagging injuries PLUS lousy route running.

The Pats signed him to an incintive laden contract- and then let him go since he could not get off the BENCH

and THIS guy is going to put you over the hump? Mike Williams not availible?

You do know that he averages 46 catches a year and has 13 Tds TOTAL in 6 years?

oh and According to NFL.com

70 catches for 945 yards THREE years ago in New Orleans

maybe my math is a bit off but 725 yards in 12 games is NOT a pace for 1K yards either - but anyway

and I was on my way to being 10 Foot tall but stopped growing

Not to mention the fact the sched is upgraded to the NFC East and AFC South

Dallas, Giants, Colts, Jags, Broncos PLUS the Steelers and Ravens twice

and they lose 5 or Less?

Perhaps you simply misread what I said. Or you could have just intentionally ignored it to make your point. I was pretty clear that I was going to give you THREE reasons, the first of which was the addition of Donte. And with everything you said, he certainly improves their offense. As for his teams, you do realize that Randy Moss And Wes Welker were on the Patriots last year, don't you? But adding him to an offense that loves to throw the ball is a very good thing.

And didn't they play the Ravens twice last year too? Oh, that's right, they beat the Ravens twice. Just wondering why you brought that up.

Reason #2 will be the improvement on defense. Shawn Rogers and Corey Williams will do wonders are improving a very shaky defensive line in 2007. Add to that fact that they fired the defensive coordinator, and you'll see a much more difficult team to score against in 2008. They were about mid-pack last year in points given up per game. Shoring up the defensive line will certainly improve that. Especially against running teams like the Jags, Broncos (I can't stop laughing at the fact you think this is a tough game), Steelers and Ravens.

Ok sorry If I used my arguement to destory your arguement - in the furture I will spend my time guessing on the other two instead of disputing the reason you presented.

"Add to that fact that they fired the defensive coordinator, and you'll see a much more difficult team to score against in 2008"

Really? So If I fire my GM does that make my draft better? I know I will fire my mechanic so my car will start.

Romeo is a DEF coach- he calls the shots there. No one else

I have NO idea what Shawn Rogers will do for the Browns D- But SHAUN Rogers went to TWO PRO BOWLS then got BUSTED for the NFL NFL's substance abuse policy then got uh fat and then was DUMPED by the LIONS

sorry, thats like getting dumped By Amy Winehouse for being a crackhead

So, on to guess your third reason

QB Play? From who? DA turned in a GREAT season- but lets keep in mind that the Browns KNEW he was going to be great- so much so they traded a TON for Brady and started CLEO LEMON week 1 last year. So its not like he a the top QB in his draft class.

no wait - that would be the guy behind him

OL?

McKinney- hurt
Tucker- hurt
Bentley- hurt
Thomas - All PRO

Nice TD

Well, I guess if you just keep making up facts, then there's just no way to defeat you in an argument. Its one of the beauties I've noticed about you and your throwdown abilities.

1. Romeo DOES NOT call the defensive shots. That is a solid fact. But like I said, you made up the fact that he does, so I guess there's no disputing your made up information.

2. The Patriots had no idea Brady, a career backup, would be as great as he is, until he proved. it. Brees was through in San Diego with a shoulder injury, then became all world in New Orleans. Its a story we hear year after year. Heck, Brett Favre was a backup in Atlanta who they gladly got rid of, only to go on to a Hall of Fame career. Anderson proved he was no fluke when he did it game after game last year. And he'll do it again this year.

3. Shaun Rogers WAS fat, and DID have a drug violation. But all reports are that this year he's right back in shape and should cruise to another Pro Bowl. Amazing that you think only in terms of something that happened before, and can't imagine a future.

And yes, firing a failure of a defensive coordinator and hiring one that is better is improvement.

July 21, 2008  01:57 PM ET

wow I would really do this but I can't say they will improve I mean they are abotu a ten win team...nice idea though

July 21, 2008  02:01 PM ET

Why thank you Prodigy!!!

July 21, 2008  02:16 PM ET

I thought about saying: the same, and then I looked at the schedule

July 21, 2008  02:26 PM ET

I'm thinking he only did 30 because the Pats can only go down (no push), and MIA won't go 1-15 or worse 2 years in a row. Nice TD idea.

July 21, 2008  02:48 PM ET

6-10, maybe 7-9........Anderson may have been a surprise and might take a step back

July 21, 2008  03:03 PM ET

NoBrowns Improve and win the North next year they go lets say 11-5 12-4

July 21, 2008  03:13 PM ET

Donte Stallworth is not that good. Decline by a small amount or stay the same, IMO. They enjoyed a certain stealth ability, as nobody really believed they'd be any good. Now they are on the radar and people will be putting their all into gameplanning them.

July 21, 2008  03:27 PM ET

David

When you get ready to do the Bucs, challenge Gruden............

July 21, 2008  03:35 PM ET

No, challenge me..

July 21, 2008  03:43 PM ET

I'm thinking he only did 30 because the Pats can only go down (no push), and MIA won't go 1-15 or worse 2 years in a row. Nice TD idea.

GIFF |

--- Actually Its the Pats and Panthers

I don;t want to have to argue with the LEGIONS of people here that will not belieive that the Mighty Panthers will NOT only win the SuperBowl with a MASSIVE 21-0 record (the NFL will give them a 2 win bonus for being awesome

The NHL will ALSO give them the stanley cup so they don;t invade Canada

July 21, 2008  03:52 PM ET

I dunno they did make some nice adjustments to the D line, and although Stallworth isnt great, he makes for a nice distraction with that speed of his. Personally i doubt they win more then 10 at the same time i think 10 is attainable. I think they will have a very similar record to last season.

Not my TD, but at the moment, arent the Colts pretty full of injuries or players recovering from injuries?
Who's really expecting the Giants to be good this year honestly? (not that there isnt a chance)
Ravens are in rebuilding stages, that leaves DAL, JAX, and DEN.

Any who, good idea for TD

July 21, 2008  03:58 PM ET

lol forgot PIT oh well good times

July 21, 2008  04:01 PM ET

Gruden Again said 07/21, 03:39 PM
"Perhaps you simply misread what I said. Or you could have just intentionally ignored it to make your point. I was pretty clear that I was going to give you THREE reasons, the first of which was the addition of Donte."

He just argued what you gave him in your first argument. And he did so very effectively.

July 21, 2008  04:12 PM ET

The Browns tough schedule will make it hard to win 10 games this year, let alone 11. I think they win 10 and make it as a wild card.

July 21, 2008  04:19 PM ET

Hey, I got a vote. I'm happy.

And actually Ram, he did not argue what I gave him. I said I was going to give him three distinct reasons, and he replied "Donte Stallworth is THE reason they are going to improve". As I said, he ignored what I wrote. He didn't argue it effectively.

Especially given the fact that Stallworth is an improvement for the Browns. I mean honestly, how could a receiver not get off the bench with the Patriots and still have 700 yards playing with one of the best receivers in the game today and Wes Welker? Seems to me he fit in quite well there. Effective argument my tail.

July 21, 2008  04:26 PM ET

Ah well. Since it is clear that Gruden votes based on whatever it is he thinks heading into the TD and not the arguments presented, I'll just vote for the TD Pimp since I think they'll decline.

Arguments shmarguments.

July 22, 2008  02:35 AM ET

It was Charlie Frye, not Cleo Lemon

July 22, 2008  03:05 AM ET

This TD was very mean spirited.

July 22, 2008  03:20 AM ET

"sorry, thats like getting dumped By Amy Winehouse for being a crackhead"

Funniest thing I've read in days...

July 22, 2008  03:24 AM ET

"Romeo DOES NOT call the defensive shots. That is a solid fact. But like I said, you made up the fact that he does, so I guess there's no disputing your made up information. "

Curious. If it's a "solid fact" then why not back up such a solid fact rather than just say you can't dispute his "made up information"?

"Solid Facts" are solid because they are verifiable. Yet you couldn't verify it. That leads me to believe the claim of "solid fact" was made up information...what a conundrum.
