1. No stealing my idea
2. No Pushing- pick a side and argue
3. If you don't LIKE the TD concept- then go start your own TDs and get the SMURF offa mine.
Will the W/L of the Minnesota improve or Decline
My Pick IMPROVE
The Ram said 07/23, 10:20 AM
18 hours and no one is up to this TD? Well, I won't hide from a challenge.
The Vikings will Decline.
How much better will the Vikings running game be in 2008 than it was in 2007? They had the number 1 rushing attack in the league and they STILL only got 8 wins.
They had the number 1 rushing defense in the league and still only got 8 wins.
They got every lucky break possible scoring 8 special teams and defensive touchdowns and still only got 8 wins.
Their entire O-Line and D-Line were healthy and almost every starter played 16 games (Their RG missed 4, LDE missed 1, and RDE missed 5), and they still only got 8 wins.
What does that say about the rest of their team?
How can they possibly improve in these areas over what they did in 2007? It took herculean efforts by these units just to drag the team to 8 wins.
They had the worst secondary in football, and drafted a rookie corner to fix it. Yeah, that'll work.
Their starting LT, Bryant McKinnie, is facing 4 felony charges for bashing a bouncer over the head with a metal pole. Left Tackle isn't important, is it?
Of course not! Because Dr. Z has them in the Super Bowl so they have to do great, right?

Ok, First I want to say this was intended for someone else, who ASKED me to challange them on it when I got to the NFC north.
and then RAN like a COWARD from it.
Oh Well.
On to RAM/David part 7!
First off the Offense
QB- Jackson has a Full Year in a new offense under his belt- plus has an improved Receiving threats out there. Jackson was also 8-4 as a starter. - They do have Gus Frerotte, who is as old as Stowe but a much better QB incase they need him.
RB- Peterson and Taylor both had a MASSIVE yards per carry average behind that line- A better management by the coaches should keep both healthy
WR- Berrian caught 71 passes for 951 yards in that wide open Bears offense- after years chasing Grossmans passes- Berrian is going to think he;s got Aikman back there at QB. and watch Rice there as well.
OL- Since he got out of the Love Boat scandal and did even have to pick up trash on his lawn- I am not worried about McKinnie missing any NFL time.
Like the Chargers this team started 1-3 and then went to 2-5 before getting hot. This season they build on that- they play the Colts week 2- If they win that . . .
Dr Z might get one right.
The Ram said 07/24, 03:30 PM
Tarvaris Jackson, at his best, is one of the worst starting QB's in the NFL. You can't hide from that. Should injuries hit any part of their line or their running backs (very real possibility), do you really trust a guy with 11 career TD's and a 69.0 passer rating to carry the team?
The addition of Berrian makes their receiving corps improve from god-awful to, what? Just plain old awful? And going from Griese/Grossman to Jackson is a DOWNGRADE both statistically and in reality. Jackson = Aikman? Please.
Their first 5 games are at Green Bay, Indy, Carolina, at Tennessee, and at Nawlins. At best they're looking at 2-3, more likely 1-4.
The Vikings are appealing to the masses because they fit all the cliche's of what a "good team" should do. But cliche's don't win games. #1 rush D is irrelevant if everyone can just throw at will on you. That they were #1 in both rush O and rush D in 2007 and STILL finished 8-8 should be enough proof of that. Any NFL team could play 11 men on the line of scrimmage and finish #1 in rush D...and lose every game by 100 points.
"they play the Colts week 2- If they win that"
Satan would need ear muffs and a parka.
NCshvDavid Throwndowns: 1000 said 07/24, 06:16 PM
I will be MORE than happy to trust my offense to a guy that is 8-4 in his first year as a starter - lets keep in mind that in his first year as a starter Steve Young went 5-5 as a starter
Now I am not saying TJ is going to be Young- but even hall of famers struggle the first year they get the reins
TJ tossed 9 TDs and 12 Picks
Rex Tossed 4TDs and 7 Picks
Brian went 10 Tds and 12 Picks
How exactly is this off base - considering Brian is at Year TEN and Rex is in year FIVE and NEITHER are getting better!
TJ is at the end of year ONE
So Yes I will say Berrian is going to have ANY hope for a DECENT QB - it will be in Minny MUCH more than in Chi-town
Lets also add that they added Jared Allen to a decent D and he is ONLY 26- entering the PRIME years as a speed rusher- Minny's D is not that complicated- and the fact that the Vikings have a MUCH better coach than they do in KC- is only going to help his acceration.
Indy in week 2
1. I said IF
2. Harrison and Manning may not be 100%
3. They are at HOME
4. Anything can happen - did you see the Super Bowl?
The Ram said 07/25, 08:37 AM
Jared Allen - I can't decide what is more likely:
1. After having a career best season in his contract year (coincidence?) and getting a dump truck full of money, he follows Shaun Alexander and 100 other NFL players by never giving an ounce of effort for the rest of his career.
2. He gets his FOURTH DUI and the MANDATORY year-long suspension that comes with it now that he's on the "Love Boat" team and finally has enough money to pipe Jack Daniels into his house instead of water.
As for McKinnie: "Love Boat" happened under Paul Tagliabue. 4-felony bouncer clubbing? Under Sheriff Goodell. Big difference.
While it is true that even HOF QB's stuggle early in their careers, guess what?
Sucky QB's that never amount to anything in the NFL struggle, too.
For every HOF QB YOU have that sucked then succeeded, I have 500 that sucked then sucked worse. Watch:
Tim Couch first season: 2447 yards, 15 TD's, 13 Int's, 73.2 QB rating.
Joey Harrington, David Carr, Akili Smith, Jim Druckenmiller, etc.
You stick with your "anything can happen" and "Jackson for Canton" fantasy land. I'll stay here in reality where the Vikings are a team with glaring, unaddressed flaws.

Report Offensive CommentLOL... they should be good this season, no doubt. Word from some minny vets were that TJ was looking better and more confident in the minicamps. They got to 8-8 despite his poor performance and the ubiquitous WR drops...I expect them to dominate with his increased performance.

Report Offensive CommentYou're probably going to have to get more specific A throwdowner named NCshvDavid. I believe its a consensus that the Vikings will improve, seeing as how they signed one of the best defensive players and upgraded their receiving corps (not to mention underachived last year.
Maybe pick how many wins better they will be?

Idjit, I was ASKED to CHALLANGE someone on this one- 30 teams, 30 TDs- and uh since there are 32 teams in the NFL- and I am doing a better w/l series
you would think ONE I am NOT doing is the Pats
any IDEA who the other one might be? Maybe a team that IS getting better by 99.9% of people? Huh? Maybe?
But some one ASKED for it, so they GOT it.
