Most important player on DL

Whos the most important player on the DL as of 7/23/08, pick first argue second and third

Ill go with

Alfonso Soriano


I will say David Ortiz


Just so everyone knows this is a SFAHW Tourney Round 2 td!


I chose Soriano because he means more to the Cubs then Papi means to the Soxs

In 21 games Soriano missed this year the Cubs went 10-11 while Boston hasent stumbled without Ortiz

Heres there stats for this year

Soriano - .283 average, 15 homeruns, 40 rbi's, 7 stolen bases

Ortiz - .252 average, 13 homeruns, 43 rbi's

Sorianio is the table setter for the Cubs, he bats leadoff and when he gets on the Cubs offense clicks and they win. He hits homeruns and drives in a lot of rbis as a leadoff hitter while hitting for a good average and getting his share of stolen bases. Soriano is a good defender and has a nice arm with a fielding percentage of .987 and can throw out a fair share of runners

Ortiz has been struggling this year and hasent gotten on base much. Sean Casey has done a great job filling in for him hitting .362 with 10 rbis, 12 runs and even a stolen base. Then Moss and a few others have also helped carry the load for Ortiz and theve been doing just fine while the Cubs havent found a leadoff hitter to replace Soriano

Well, I think Ortiz is more important because opposing pitchers fear that lineup with Orti/Ramirez. Ortiz brings the Sox more power and bring in runs while Soriano leads off and only gets on base for the hitters below him. Ortiz is one of those hitters. Now opposing pitchers can pitch arounf the number three hitter of the Sox and hope to get Manny to ground into a DP.

And Soriano is off the DL, look at my article, and the comment the Cubs fan made below!

No, you didn't. Soriano was activated today, and is playing tonight. He went 1 for 5 so far, and knocked in a run.
