I will say...Patrick Kerney of the Seatlle Seahawks.

I think Kerney will because he is always in the race for it no matter which team he plays for. He is quick and gets to the QB fast and is very good at doing it.

I will take Jared Allen who had 15.5 sacks last year in Kansas City........This year he is on a defensive line that featuresRay Edwards, Kevin Williams and Pat Williams.......

He is going to be the defensive player of the year for the Vikings........


Well, Kerney had 14.5 sacks last year, 1 less than Allen.

I don't think Allen will becuasr when he plays on the Vikings their whole defensive line gets to the QB quick while in KC he was the best DL while with the Vikings all of them are equally talented and he will wind up with less sacks.


While, Kerney is one of the best no matter which team he has played for. He has been the best DE on the Falcons and Seahawks. He is quick, he is a veteran so he knows a lot of teams strategy from playing them. He is a smart player.

Allen is a young player and isn't as familar with the teams as much as Kerney is.

This is why I think Kerney will lead


Kearney plays opposite Darry Tapp who also gets to the QB pretty quick as evident by his 7 sacks......

So Kearney is smart and Allen isnt????

Kearney is also 31 and Allen is just 26

Ray Edwards is nowhere near Allen's talent level but he still had 4 sacks despite a 4 game suspension last year.......

Basically with Pat and Kevin Williams at the DT position teams wont be able to double team like when Allen was in Kansas City.......And that will lead to a monster year, like 18-20 sacks........

Call me crazy, but I think that Jared Allen will wind up with fewer sacks next year (I'll say 11-12).

Note: this DOESN'T mean that I think the quality of his play will be worse...in fact, I think he will be superb. However, a few things are working against him. First, if I remember correctly, the Vikings tend to use their weakside linebacker as a pass rusher fairly often, and this will mean that Allen will be sucking up all of the LT to facilitate the OLB's blitz. Second, he's in a division with 3 very good left tackles, as opposed to the AFC West last season where LT was embarassingly bad outside of SD. Finally, he's not going to take anyone by surprise this year...I think teams will take their chances w/ the Williams brothers inside and double team Jared (or put a TE out there to help) on every play.

If the Cowboys used him solely as a pass rusher like the Chargers do with Merriman he'd have a very good shot at it. Ware does a lot more in that defense though. He doesn't just rush the passer on every down.

I agree with CCC if the Cowboys used Ware like the Giants used to do LT. He could probably make a run at the single season record. As it is though I think cowace makes a good point in that his performance could stay the same or get better, but the numbers not reflect that. I'm not sure what he meant by Allen sucking up the whole LT I guess the LT's in the NFC North can split in two and block multiple people or something, but with Allen they will stay just one to block him.
