The best deal I've heard so far is The Braves trading Teixeira for Kevin Youkilis and Craig Hansen. Youkilis would be a great player in Atlanta, replacing Teixeira at first baseman and playing hard every game. The Braves need someone who can play long-term, and I think Kevin Youkilis would be a great fit. Concerning Hansen, the Braves need middle relievers that are good, and hopefully Hansen could fill that void.

There's a problem with what you're saying.
"Red Sox General Manager Theo Epstein said there is nothing to this rumor."
Peter Gammons made this out to be a trade rumor. However, the Braves never made the offer of Mark Teixeira for Kevin Youkilis and Craig Hansen.
There's another problem with that. Youkilis is a much better hitter for average. Teixeira will most likely drive in more runs, but is driving in just over five more runs going to be a big upgrade for the Red Sox? No. Not when Youkilis hits nearly .30 to .40 points better in terms of average.
Again, the problem with this is that this rumor isn't even true. Youkilis and Hansen would not be traded for Teixeira. It's a downgrade for the Red Sox.
Personally, I don't feel he will be traded. The Braves are now listening to offers for Francoeur and Ohman. They would not trade Mark and one of those guys too.
The price will need to be lowered. Teixeira is having a poor season in terms of average. The Braves are not going anywhere if they don't keep Mark. They're out of it already. Trading Tex will not give them a better chance next year.
Like Nady, Bay, and others, the asking price will need to be lowered.

The TD was "Best deal mentioned so far for Atlanta concerning Mark Teixeira", not "Will Teixeira Be Traded?" The deal mentioned can be just a rumor, like the one I picked.
The Braves would be stupid not to trade Teixeira. They know he's leaving after this year, so they have to at least get something out of him. I think that the Red Sox would be stupid to get Teixeira and give up Youkilis and Hansen, but it's the best deal for the Braves dealing with Teixeira involved that I've heard so far.

How can we be basing this off a rumor that isn't even true at all? Or doesn't even make any sense? Youkilis is better, period. Epstein said the Braves never offered them Teixeira for Youk and Hansen.
If there was maybe some little truth to it, then you could say it, but there wasn't.
The Angels or Dodgers are the closest to getting him, I'd say. However, the Braves want Joe Saunders or Ervin Santana and that isn't happening.

Since we're basing this off complete rumor, not truth..
Mark Teixeira to the Diamondbacks for Conor Jackson and other prospects.
The Diamondbacks are a mess. They're two games over .500 yet they lead the National League West. They need to add a bat to that lineup. The pitching with Webb and Haren is very good. They have a solid rotation.
If they trade for Teixeira, they'll add that final missing piece and it will bring them to the division title in the NL West.

Report Offensive CommentThat deal makes absolutely no sense for Boston. Why would they give up Youk for two months of Tex and give up a pitcher in the process? Particularly since Youkilis is having a better year than Teixeira to begin with. Some of the rumors that get tossed out there this time of year are just absurd...this is one of them.

Report Offensive CommentSilly topic.
I can come out here and say any team's 2 top players or prospects for Tex will be a good deal. I think something that should be understood here is that the trade should actually WORK.
Youk is a gold glover at first and hits for a high average. That AND he's beloved in Boston. I dont have any idea why you would bring in a rental player (unless you're giving him $20 million per!) like that.

Report Offensive CommentI'd rather have Youk than Teixera, and so would Theo who believes in Moneyball. He's not gonna let go of the "Greek God of Walks."

Report Offensive CommentI've been watching Tex down here in ATL this year and I really don't see the talent. He is a pile-it-on type of player at the plate, and his glove is like 14K gold....not 24. the rest is lead.
His average is pretty bad when you take into account how much money he's rumored to be slated to get in a FA deal...The braves need to ditch him ASAP before he tanks out and they can't get anything for him.
The big thing, and this has been pointed out by many analysts, is that their aren't really any contenders that need a 1st baseman right now, except for the angels and they have the best record in the AL.
Boston won a WS with Youklis and Poppy at 1st so I don't see any reason to change that.
but again, the only times that Tex shows up at the plate are the days when the rest of the team shows up. He doesn't dig the team out of a malaise by any stretch of the imagination like Chipper does.
