Ok,this is the deal. You have to pick at least 5 different forwards. They also have to be signed for this upcoming season.

Thrashers--Kovalchuk
Bruins-----Savard
Sabres---Roy
Flames---Iginla
Hurricanes--Staal
Hawks------Toews
Avs------Stastny
Jackets---Nash
Stars-----Morrow
Wings---Zetterberg
Oilers----Hemsky
Panthers--Horton
Kings----Kopitar
Wild------Gaborik
Habs-----A.Kostitsyn
Predators--Arnott
Devils-----Parise
Isles-----Comrie
Rangers----Gomez
Senators---Spezza
Flyers------Richards
Coyotes----Jokinen
Penguins---Crosby
Blues-------Boyes
Sharks-----Thornton
Bolts-------Lecavalier
Leafs-----Antropov
Canucks---H.Sedin
Capitals---Ovechkin

Sabres- Thomas Vanek
Stars- Brad Richards
Rangers- Chris Drury
Oilers- Andrew Cogliano
Ducks- Corey Perry

Getzlaf vs Perry

Both are good. Getzlaf is a tad better though. Getzlaf led his team with a +32 compared to Perry's +12. Getzlaf also led the team with 82 points in 77 games compared to Perry's 54 points in 70 games. Getzlaf's point clip in the play-offs (.67). Perry's (.60). Getzlaf is better offensively and defensively.

Gomez vs Drury

Multiple Cup winners that both get it done in the play-offs and regular season. Gomez is a 70 point guy. Drury is a 60 point guy. Gomez's point clip in the play-offs (.71) vs Drury (.70). Gomez is 29 years old vs Drury 32. Gomez is more dynamic than Drury. Gomez also fit in the Big Apple better than Drury. Will he fit in better next year?
Gomez play-off line 10GP 4G-7A-11PTS
Drury's play-off line 10GP 3G-3A-6PTS
Gomez had more of an impact than Drury.

Morrow vs Richards

Morrow established himself in this years play-offs as a rising power-forward that throws the body with authority. Simply inspired the team to the Final Four with his physical play.
B.M Play-off line 18GP 9G-6A-15PTS
B.R play-off line 18GP 3G-12A-15PTS

Morrow is also responsible defensively. Richards while good is just not as good as Morrow is defensively.

Both Ducks deserve huge contracts. Perry is gonna score more goals, Getzlaf will get more assists. I'll take Perry, though, because he is a more clutch player than Getzlaf. He scored 4 GWG compared to Getzlaf's 2, and he may score 40 G this season, so that number may be in the range of 10.

Drury and Gomez are very similar. Gomez fit in a little better last season because he had played his whole career in that market, and he knew how to handle it better. This year, Drury will have the bigger impact. His leadership is incredible, and, without it, I don't know that the Avs win the Cup in 2001, even with the loaded roster they had. Gomez is good, Drury is special.

Career stats: Richards 500 points in 564 games, Morrow 374 points in 573 games. Morrow is the captain, but Richards brings a resume and respect to argue that he could wear the C on a number of teams. Both are tied in Cups, but BR has a Conn Smythe on his resume, and he is a more electric player that BM. I'll take Richards.

1st off. Drury played with Forsberg in Denver. (AKA one of the most complete players the NHL has ever known). I give him credit, but not that much as you do.

BR brings in a more impressive PAST RESUME yeah, but he's still a career minus player(-57) vs BM(+119). I want a player that doesnt get beat defensively. Thats very important in today's game. BM plays a more complete game. BR does not. BM is also entering his prime. BR's career is on the decline. His last 3 seasons point totals 91-70-62. Will he drop below the 50 point mark? Its looking that way. 62 points is very low for a 7.8 million per year player.

Cogliano vs Hemsky

Hemsky is the franchise player right now. Cogliano is the future. Cogliano needs more seasons to truly bloom. Its Hemsky's time right now. The Oil rely more on Hemsky at this point in time.

Roy vs Vanek

Roy is the team leader. He posted 32 goals and 49 assists for 81 points this season. Roy is also steadily increasing his production. His last 3 seasons 57-63-81. Is Vanek over the pressure of his contract yet? You know he struggled mightily last season.

I'll take a complete player in Getzlaf than Perry, who struggles at times defensively.

BR played on pretty bad defensive teams in TB, even with Boyle in the mix. They're goaltending hasn't been bery good since the Bulin Wall left, and the main weapons there were #4 and #26, who don't need any help to score.

Cogliano, who I am sad to say is 2 days younger than me, showed his clutch, big-game ability last season when he scored overtime goals in 3 straight games. He had an excellent rookie season, and, even at 19, is the guy the Oilers look to in the clutch.

Vanek has posted 104 goals, 18 of them GWG's, and +36 in just 3 seasons in the NHL. With the knowledge that their franchise goalie is in the fold, he can rest easy knowing that at least one piece of the puzzle will be there for a long time. Yes, he struggled last season, but he still poured in 36 goals for a weakened Buffalo squad. I'll take those as "struggling" numbers any day of the week.

Do you ever wait til the end of a TD before voting, jbf? We haven't even made any arguments for our positions yet.

He saw the word Flames on boston's side...and didn't see it on yours.

August 13, 2008  12:57 AM ET

I know. He does it every time. Kinda defeats the purpose of a TD to just vote based on which option you like better rather than base it upon the arguments.

August 13, 2008  01:10 AM ET

I am starting a private hockey group where we can have TDs that only group members can vote on.

August 13, 2008  01:27 AM ET

That's the way to do it. Is that the one with Roberts?

August 13, 2008  01:30 AM ET

Where is Roberts? He needs to answer to Internal Affairs for a grammatical infraction. None shall be exempt .....

August 13, 2008  01:31 AM ET

That's the way to do it. Is that the one with Roberts?
wtnelson | 08/13/08, 01:27 AM

Correct. We'll get the invites out very soon.

August 13, 2008  01:32 AM ET

Sorry for taking so long.

August 13, 2008  01:36 AM ET

Leaning way left. Vanek? Drury? Come on Wt, you know better.

Jbf, you know better than that. Tazered.

August 13, 2008  01:45 AM ET

Vertically.

August 13, 2008  01:47 AM ET

BGM, I thought that was how you spell it. The FN GPD will have an internal investigation about the use of the word "tazer".
