i say the broklyn stadium brooklyn has not had a pro team since tthe dodgers and it would be great for the community it would give new yorkers a sense of pride in its community and prob. employ locals although th cowboys stadium will be nice and hold the super bowl it is unnessary its a project that costs billions jones only real reason for buliding the stadium was because he wanted a stadium better than houstons

It would give New Yorkers would give a sense of pride in the community? As if New York doesn't have enough teams to cheer for in the city.

-> New York Yankees, New York Mets
-> New York Giants, New York Jets
-> New York Knicks, New Jersey Nets
-> New York Islanders

I've been to New York and I have family in Brooklyn. Most of the people there support them anyways. New York has a larger fan base of the Nets then the state itself! Brooklyn is a suburban city of the greater New York city. The impact of the Nets moving into Brooklyn would only be felt locally.

If you look at Dallas and what Jerry Jones is building its a completely different scenario. He has stated this himself that this is legacy. This is what he wants to be remembered for. Can you imagine a guy as successful as him with 3 SB wins, and a multi-billionare businessman saying something like that?

The guy is very ambitious. Here is a quote from Jerry Jones when being interviewed by ESPN "the Cowboys' owner told me that he thought the new stadium would, in time, be as recognizable as the White House".

if you read the challange which stadium will have a better affect on the community the brooklyn stadium or the cowboys stadi

that is locally and what is the reason for a team to bulid a new stadium when the current one is just fine??

and yes the broklyn stadium is for the communty it has a gym only for the local community
living quarters for the community and it will be able to out on more than one event at a time
jerry jones stadiium can not do either yes it will have higher sponsors and host the super bowl but those dont have lasting effects on the community

the broklyn bulding provides a place for young locals to go and keep themseleves from unproductive activites i would really like to see a group of kids try to play touch football at the new cowboys stadium

I'm not sure entirely sure where your going with this new argument that you confounded from nowhere. In the National Football League teams across the country are costumed into upgrading their stadiums to keep pace with newer and larger stadiums being built.

It provides economical and social impact throughout the community. This stadium will increase its capacity from 65,000 to over 100,000. The first group of people of the community that will feel this is the small businesses.

In fact you are wrong. Jerry Jones has always supported children playing in at Texas Stadium. If you have done your homework you would realize that Texas Stadium as always been the place the High School championship football. Jerry Jones plans on having that done after this new stadium is being reworked.

Will the High School championships for basketball be held at this new facility? Chances are highly unlikely.

Just to clarify something. Do you honestly believe that the owner of the Nets is not building this Atlantic Yards project of this not for pure profit? Your absolutely out of your mind if you think otherwise. This is a business all about money in case you didn't know.

"its a project that costs billions jones only real reason for buliding the stadium was because he wanted a stadium better than houstons"

Houston has nothing to do with it. Jones isn't competing with Houston, he's competing with the entire world with this project.

And why on earth would the stadium in Brooklyn instill a sense of pride in community and hire local employees but the Arlington stadium wouldn't accomplish the same exact things?

Hell right.

Ah if they would increase the cap of characters allowed, I would have been able to include that into my argument. But alas the cap is stuck :(.

I will say Dallas b/c the stadium in Dallas didn't eliminate a park that was filled w/ baseball fields, soccer field and a full track for the neighborhood kids like the New Yankee Stadium did.

The new yankee stadium has displaced an invaluable park for the children of that community not to mention a possible rod carew who just so happen to grow up in the neighborhood next to yankee stadium and learned to play ball at the park where the new Yankee stadium now stands and therefore eliminated a historic place of enjoyment for the children of New York.

The Islanders? I think you meant the Rangers, KingAbe.

The Islanders are up in Uniondale - in Nassau Country.

ESPN "the Cowboys' owner told me that he thought the new stadium would, in time, be as recognizable as the White House".

That's just an insane amount of ego talking there. Hey everybody, look at me and my new building.

Even as an Eagles fan I can admit that the Cowboys stadium is going to be amazing... good thing I live 5 minutes away from it...

October 7, 2008  11:53 AM ET

New York, its already a dump filled with ignorant and arrogant "tough guys", they need all the help they can get over there.

Philly fan in Dallas, HOORAH!

Are you guys serious?! Do you think Jerry is building this stadium with the city of Dallas in mind?! He's doing it with himself in mind.

If you detached Brooklyn from the rest of NYC, it would be the fourth-largest city in America. Yet it has no pro sports teams or any other real attractions (except maybe Coney Island). Brooklyn and the Nets have both been ignored for decades, and their union will bring mutual attention. Plus, I think Brooklyn is more in need of urban renewal than Dallas.

Yes I did. Thank you for the correction. I'm not sure what I was thinking at the time.

Jealousy has nothing to do with it. To compare your football team's stadium to one of the symbols of the this country and what it represents is beyond BS! Compare it to or claim it is better than other stadiums in the world, fine. But let's keep things in perspective shall we.
