Joshua Cribbs-- You heard a lot about this guy over the past few years as a kick returner. Now I'm going to tell you why he should occasionally play QB. Joshua Cribbs played QB at Kent State University. During his time playing Quarterback at Kent State, Josh Cribbs racked up over 10,000 (10,839) total yards from scrimmage. He holds the Kent State records for most offensive yards (10,839), most completions (616), pass attempts (1,123), passing yards (7,169), and touchdowns scored (41), and points scored (246). In his 4 years at KSU, he threw for 55 Touchdowns, and ran for 38 touchdowns, which is the record for most rushing tds. He is the only player in NCAA history to lead his team in both passing and rushing yards in four different seasons (That's right not even Tim Tebow or Vince Young did that) and is 1 of only 4 QBs to rush and pass for 1,000 yards in at least 2 seasons, and he did it in 3 (the other 3 tp achieve this feat? Pat White, Vince Young, and Beau Morgan.) Also, he played against teams with two well known QBs. Ben Roethlisberger (Miami of Ohio) and Charlie Frye (University of Akron). More arguments to come.

"I mean like come in for maybe a few series per game"

Now if you had said a pass every couple games or something I would be for it maybe. However though a few series a game is just too much.

Look around the league and tell me how many teams you see who have a wr/kr playing quarterback for several series a game. Guys like Cribbs are best used for gadget plays. He is not a qb.

If you are going to play him at qb for a couple series each game you might as well as just go ahead and put him at full time qb. They are already paying Anderson and Quinn to be the quarterbacks

Think about it Randle El he passed for at least 40 tds in college and ran for 40 more yet you dont see them using him to play qb because he is not payed to be a qb

ok well you said you had more arguments to come..... if that was one of them well you couldve put a little more in to it

Just because a guy played qb in college does not mean he needs to play qb in the NFL. Cribbs is doing what he is best used for and that is return kicks and punts and occasionally catch or run the ball.

If Cribbs was really a guy that could lead a team from the qb position dont you think they wouldve tried it already? I mean afterall I am not sure if you have noticed but outside of last year the Browns really have not been winning a ton of games since he came in to the league in 2005.

If anything maybe they should try and work Cribbs in to the passing game more as a wr

eh oh well this was a serious waste of my time

You gave his college stats.... You still didnt tell me why you think his play would carry over to the NFL level especially since he hasnt played qb in years

You left me with nothing to argue so Im done

Please remember that it is OCCASIONALLY, NOT PERMANENTLY

what exactly do you mean when you say occasionally? Like how often and how many passes do you mean? Do you mean like start full games or what?

I mean like come in for maybe a few series per game.

no, and it doesn't even make sense, even though he played in college

Well with QB roulette going on right now Cribbs could be able to throw it up in the air and catch it himself and bring it all the way back for a TD. It could be possible...I have seen it in Madden, the most accurate and realistic game to date.

Well with Brady out and the options behind him, maybe not such a bad idea

Poor Chosen 1, he is losing even though left has 2 forfeited turns.
I have to vote right

November 28, 2008  01:20 PM ET
