He dominated the league his rookie year putting up Jordanesque numbers and showing everyone what he can do. He led the terrible Hornets into the playoffs his first year and probably would have again this year if he wasn't injured for parts of the year.

The problem with Chris Paul is that he is not the type of uptempo point guard which are infiltrating the league (Nash, Barbosa, Davis, Ellis, Ford) Also, he does have a small history of injuries and there is a new wave of point guard who will quickly surpass him in guys like Conely, Rose, Gordon. No slowish guard without a three to strech the D can succedd in the style of ball which is being played in the NBA. Not to mention, 17 ppg with a 437 fg % and 2.5 To a game are not "Jordanesuqe".

I do agree that the NBA is becoming a League where you can't be a point guard without being uptempo but Paul is uptempo. Nash isn't that fast and he's uptempo (mainly it's quickness for him). Also, I don't think Conley will make a very good pro. I'd probably take Derrick Rose instead. Look at the facts: Paul took them from 18-64 record (.281 win percentage) to 38-44 (.463) IN HIS ROOKIE YEAR. In that year he averaged 16.1 ppg, 7.8 apg to 2.35 turnovers, 5.1 rpg and 2.2 steals per game.

But that turn around, was not merely Paul, it also had a lot to do with Scott. Not to mention, Paul's shooting percentage has been low, always will be low because of his lack of an outside jump shot. But this year, he was surrounded by talent and couldn't put them on his frail shoulders. Point guards are supposed to supply stability, and making people around him better. He does nether, i would take Rose, Gordon Connelly and Collision all over Paul, that is the next generation.

Going back to your first argument you said that Paul is "slowish". In SI earlier this year it said "Paul can certainly push the ball up the floor, but he also has the most well-rounded game of anyone,,,he's an accomplished scorer, has change-of-pace ability, knows the game, and possesses a steady temperament and a relatively small ego."

A 44% field goal percentage isn't that bad. A player you mentioned, Collison, only shot 48% IN COLLEGE.

48 % is better than 44% and Collision is the type of player who will get open shots no matter where he goes, because of his speed and play making ability. Also, the slow it down Pac-10 can be comparable to the NBA defensively. Not to mention, I'm not saying he cant push tempo, he just doesn't have the ability to get into the lane and stretch the defense which would make him "jordanesque". The bottom line is that he will never become the "Next Great Point Guard".

I think Derron Williams of the Utah Jazz had a better year statistically and he's working with John Stockton, plus i think he helped pushed Utah to the top of the Northwest division

He didn't have that much of a better season and Paul was battling injuries. Paul is quick and fast. Look at SI. They thought he was fast. At the beginning of the year the named him one of the Young Quicksilver Guards.

The following is based on the stats from this year's regular season:
Scoring: Paul
Rebounding: Paul
Assists: Williams
Steals: Paul
FG%: Williams
FT%: Paul
3P%: Paul

There you go.

I'm not retarded. I know 48% is better than 44% but there's a difference between college and NBA. You can't compare Pac-10 defense with NBA. No way.
