Joe montana is the best QB of all time.
joe montana was the most accurate passer had great vision on the field
and could just win.
also has 4 super bowl rings in witch he was MVP like 3 times and never threw an interception in any of them.
Ombudsman Cooz said 07/07, 08:03 PM
There are so many factors to consider looking at the greatest QB of all time. Obviously, Montana's up there. Marino's freakish ability, but no rings. Bradshaw's four rings, but non-elite regular seasons. There's Aikman-Who-Had-Smith, and there's Peyton, who finally won one. Unitas is the loser of the Game That Saved the NFL.
If you combine all these things; regular season success, statistics, leadership, playoff success, and value to team, none are better overall than The Golden Boy, Tom Brady.
Three rings, two Super Bowl MVPs, his first came from absolutely nowhere. He engineered fourth quarter comebacks like he was working for NASA. He's cooler than soft-serve, and has a career 88.4 rating to go along with three rings and counting - none of which the Patriots could have won without him.
Montana had Walsh, the Father of the West Coast Offense. Aikman had Emmitt and a great line. The Steelers were all about defense. What does Brady have? A team built on chemistry, fundamentals, and HIS leadership. He is that franchise. No dynasty QB had this much responsibility, and did as much with as little as Brady. No one can top that.

you see tom is good and will be in the hall of fame but he still cant compete.
joe went to four superbowls and never threw an INT so that shows that he can win and can win under pressure.
and also tom brady is kinda recent and his career isnt over but he may become the best, who knows, but joe montana was the best and will be for a long time
Ombudsman Cooz said 07/08, 05:13 PM
If his career is "kinda recent," it's to his benefit in this argument that he's very close to mimicking Montana's post-season success. No doubt Montana did a fantastic job, especially against the Broncos in the Super Bowl, but I think the fact he had Hall of Fame players surrounding him gives more of an edge to Brady. Is Deion Branch going to Canton? Maybe as a spectator. Brady won multiple titles with some pretty mediocre skill position players. Not taking anything away from Montana, but the entire Patriots organization either won or lost on Brady's success in three Super Bowl championship years, and four AFC Championship game appearances. He had different offensive coordinators, different running backs, different wide receivers, none of these matched up to Bill Walsh (he ran the 49ers offense), Roger Craig and the Great Jerry Rice.
Brady did more with less than Montana did, and Brady could end up with the same amount of rings and Super Bowl MVP trophies as early as February 2008. Brady's stats are comparable, too.

hey im not very good at arguing but i going to say this, it may sound really retarted and chessy but it sounded better in my mind
Greatness comes over a long period of time.Joe montana played for a long time and has earned that greatness And when he dies he will go to greatness heaven with walter paytonn and joel seigal. but has tom brady really proved that he has earned that greatness. he may one day soon but Joe has earned that greatness. and tom hasnt just yet.
Ombudsman Cooz said 07/08, 07:46 PM
Simply because Brady's career isn't over does not show that Montana is better than he is. Because while Brady will certainly be a first-ballot HofFer, no one else on his offense will be.
Montana, on the other hand, is mentioned in the same breath with Jerry Rice, who is clearly the best WR in history. Brady hasn???t even had a receiver who is the fourth best in his conference in any one year he played. Montana was given the most innovative offense to date, and had elite players surrounding him, and a Hall of Fame offensive coach guiding him. Brady was given chicken sh*t, and he turned it into chicken salad.
You put Brady on the 49ers in the 80s, they win six. You put Montana on the Patriots in the 00s, you have another bust Notre Dame QB.

but Brady VS Joe hands down its Joe Montana on this one.

Report Offensive CommentI would like to go on the record now as saying I do not worship Tom Brady or the Patriots (you might have guessed by the name). However, nothing he mentions about Montana gives him an edge over Brady. Montana has four rings, true, but this is the best Patriots team Brady has had yet, so four is certainly not out of the question. Montana had Craig and Rathman, Brady had one last good year from Corey Dillon, Kevin Faulk and Antowain Smith. Rice vs. Branch? Jones vs. Watson?
Brady had a DEFENSIVE coach, Montana had perhaps the most innovative offensive mind ever associated with the game.
I just ask that you read the argument. This is the same guy who created this TD twice already.

Report Offensive Commentlet me start by saying I LOVE TOM BRADY, he is gorgeous and great.
But, I personally would but Peyton as the #1, he is more to his team then Tom is, saying that, Peyton couldn't hold a candle to Tom in certain categories, but when it comes to disecting the Defense, checking down, calling audibles, pretty much being a second offensive coordinator, I would think he is the better qb. like you said about joe vs tom, peyton had to do what he did with less, meaning NO defense.

Report Offensive CommentMontana was a product of the system he was in. He benefitted from playing under Bill Walsh in the West Coast Offense, in a time when nobody else ran, or understood how to defend and stop that offense. If Montana had played on any other team, nobody would put him in the rarified air of "one of the best" QB's ever, as a matter of fact- he probably would not be remembered at all....
mikesteelnation1 | 07/08/07, 06:01 PM
Report Offensive CommentAnd it's not like Walsh failed when he was in Cincinnati either. Belichick failed miserably in Cleveland. Obviously Brady was the difference in New England. Walsh made KEN ANDERSON into a good quarterback. There's no legendary, fancy scheme behind what Brady runs. Basically, he goes out there, dominates, hoists the trophy and sleeps with a super model. B@stard.
